Biker Ruined (The Lost Souls MC Series Book 8) by Ellie R Hunter (40)

Cas

Leo is sleeping in his seat, my wife’s hand is in mine and the rain beats against the windows as I drove my family home. The storm has been brewing all day and mother nature has chosen now to unleash the elements.

Lightening lights up the whole sky and the thunder booms and crackles far and wide.

“We needed today,” she murmurs quietly, and I agree with her.

Oak wouldn’t have found peace and nor would we until we said a proper goodbye. I miss the fucker but I managed to find a form of closure this afternoon. There won’t be a day that passes where he isn’t in my thoughts.

Turning onto our road, the drive is bumpy and the rain isn’t going to help the potholes I’ve yet to fill. I stop as close as I can to the house and Alannah leans over and wakes Leo up. She pulls him through to the front and I take my jacket off and cover him with it to shield him from the rain.

“Wait for me to open your door,” I say, bracing myself before the rain.

I climb out and run around the car, the rain is pouring and I’m soaked by the time I open her door. Helping her out, we make a run for it and exhale when we’re on the porch.

I make quick work of unlocking the door and usher them across the threshold.

“I’m going to put this one to bed and take a quick shower.”

“Okay, babe. I’ll make us a drink,” I say, taking my jacket back and pressing my lips to Leo’s head, “Night, son.”

While Alannah is busy upstairs, I take my boots off and make my way around the house turning on lights and end up at the drinks cabinet.

I pour Alannah and myself a large whiskey and smile, this drink will forever remind me of Oak.

Peeling my tee off, I head into the kitchen and throw it in the laundry basket. Turning around, I’m about to go and get our drinks and hopefully join Alannah in the shower when I’m faced with Kyle.

“What the fuck…?”

Before I can get angry, before I can finish my sentence and before I can demand answers, he swings his arm and he cracks me over the head with a piece of pipe.

It knocks me sideways and I fall to the floor with a thud. I’m seeing everything in threes and I struggle to get up.

Another blow hits me and I black out. I don’t how long I was out for but it was long enough for him to drag me back into the living room and bound my feet. My wrists are tied behind my back and my head feels like it’s splitting in two.

My vision is a lot better and Kyle is hovering over me, dressed in all black.

“I should’ve killed you when I had the chance,” I hiss.

The ties cut into my wrists the more I struggle and the sting of the pain bites into my anger.

“You didn’t though, did you,” he mocks, “How the tables have turned,” he laughs and leaves the room.

The prick is heading for the stairs and every step he takes, the closer he gets to Alannah and Leo.

“Alannah!” I roar.

I trust she’ll hear the desperate urgency in my tone and not come to see what’s happening. We’ve talked many times about scenarios like this and I trust her to remember them. I hear a door slam and her run across Leo’s room above me. Trying again, I try loosening the ties but it’s no use.

“Kyle!” I yell, until my lungs burn.

A door crashes open and Leo’s screams are a knife to my heart. Without my boots on, I shuffle onto my side and pull myself up into a sitting position using the side of the couch as leverage. My plan was to sit up and bring my tied hands under my ass and back out to my front, but Alannah’s ear-piercing scream has me frozen. Everything happens fast I don’t think many seconds have passed when a series of thumps and bumps are crashing down the stairs. I’m frozen no longer and shuffle to the door and my heart stops when I see Alannah laid at the bottom of the stairs, eyes closed, not moving and Kyle walking down after her.

“You’re dead, so fuckin’ dead,” I vow through heavy breaths, my chest constricting every breath I try to take.

I should keep my eyes on Kyle but I’m concentrating on Alannah’s chest, the waiting to see if her chest rises and falls is killing me. My wife is unconscious and my son is wailing alone upstairs, this cunt is going to die more painfully than his brothers did.

Loosening the ties isn’t working as I thrash each hand against each other trying to get free. I roar in frustration, I have never been trapped like this.

“Now, now,” Kyle mocks stepping over Alannah, “Now she’s quiet, we can talk.”

He walks towards me and pulls me like a bitch by my hair until Alannah is out of my sight.

“There is nothing to talk about,” I growl.

“There’s plenty, like, how I’m going to kill your wife and make you watch.”

“I should’ve made you watch as I killed your brothers, you would’ve known what’s coming for you.”

He laughs and I hate myself for underestimating him. He pulls out his phone, hits the screen a couple of times and presses it to his ears.

It doesn’t ring for long when I can hear Melissa’s voice faintly answer.

“Are you with him?” he asks.

I don’t hear her answer for a beat and then I hear a low “Yes.”

“Lose him and come to Cas’s house. Once I’m done here, we’re leaving.”

Her voice becomes hushed and I can’t make anything out, but she must agree because he hangs up and shoves the phone back in his pocket.

I want to know how she knows where I live, but I’m not giving him the satisfaction of asking and him holding the answer over me.

I’m a fucking prisoner in my own home but I still have my pride left.

“Danny warned me weeks ago that you would come for me if you couldn’t catch him,” he says, dragging a chair across the room and sits in front of me.

“I was disappointed it took you so long, but then, there your brothers were pretending to be from my brother’s club thinking they were getting the better of me, when all along I knew what was happening.”

I don’t say a word and allow him to run his mouth.

“I knew all along he would come for me once you made the call, he was letting you believe that he wouldn’t so he could attack while you were still out looking for him. But, our Lissa, the ever the protective sister went and stabbed him in the back and handed him to you.”

I don’t move, I don’t say anything, I’m not giving him anything and it’s getting to him. The tick in his jaw is working overtime and all I can think of, is how I want to slice it out and feed it to him.

“I’m surprised you don’t have anything to say.”

“You know you will die for this so I don’t need to keep repeating myself, I don’t care about your little plans against us, I care how you’re going to bleed and suffer for it.”

“You’re not getting it, are you?” he spits, starting to lose his cockiness, “You’re not getting away with taking my brothers from me.”

I’m about to say, I have brothers and they will come but then Oak flashes through my mind and how we didn’t get to him in time, plus, my brothers have no clue what’s happening as they drink at the club.

“So, what happened after we had all three of you? I mean, Melissa fucked your plans, yet here we are.”

I can feel the blood seeping into my palms as I slowly and slyly still try to free my wrists from the ties.

“Leaving us alone in the basement wasn’t a good move, see, Danny knew you didn’t have the stomach to kill someone who hadn’t wronged you and he was right. He and Cayden knew they were dead and had no chance of making it out alive, so I vowed to take their place and take you out. He told me to play along and feed you a pack of lies and then to try and get a prospect patch to get closer to you all. I couldn’t believe how smoothly it went, you believed everything I told you.”

“How does Melissa fit into all this, because I didn’t think she’d be the type of woman who would fuck a guy just to stick around.”

This gets a reaction from him and I keep it in mind that Melissa is both his and was Danny weakness.

“Well, she’s let that prick get inside her head…”

“She let him get inside her pussy too,” I laugh and he tenses.

“She will choose me every time, Dex fucked up admitting he used her, she’s been torn whether to believe him ever since.”

“We shall see, I hear a car coming up the drive. You better let her in.”

He disappears into the hall and I shuffle across the carpet and see Alannah is still out cold but this time I see her chest rise and I let out a relieved sigh. Looking over my shoulder, my wrists and hands are covered in blood and they are numb. I don’t stop and bend over to try and bite my way through the ties around my ankles.

“Oh my god, Kyle. What have you done? I can’t believe you followed through with this.”

Melissa sounds genuine as he lets her in and I shuffle back to where I was before he left the room.

“She’s still alive so stop freaking out,” he tells her, pushing her into the living room.

Her eyes land on me and I can’t tell if she’s going to be helpful or an enemy. She’s been distant with Dex the last few days and now I know why, she’s known about his plans all along.

“Welcome to my home, untie me and I can make you a drink or put a bullet in your head. I’m a good host so I’ll let you choose,” I grunt sarcastically.

I don’t like anyone getting the better of me, but this family is royally a pain in my ass.

“Don’t you talk to her,” Kyle spits at me and turns to his sister, “You don’t have to play Dex anymore, after this, we’ll get as far from here as possible and you’ll never have to hear his lies again.”

“Kyle, the club will hunt us down. Look how far they went for their brother, how far do you think they’ll go if you kill their president,” she says, trying to get through to him.

She isn’t doing it for my benefit, she’s doing it because she learned real quick how we work and she’s looking out for him.

“They’ll never find us…”

He pauses as we all hear Alannah come around and he darts out the room. Melissa quickly comes over and sharply inhales when she sees my bloodied wrists.

“I must admit, it makes a change to see you tied up but if you give me your word you’ll let us go and never come after us, I won’t let him kill you and we’ll leave and never return.”

I have to bite my tongue from saying what I really want to say and instead, I say, “You both leave now and I’ll gladly forget this ever happened.”

I don’t know if she believes me, she narrows her eyes and I watch her mental debate whizz through her mind.

“All deals are off though if he harms my wife again, I will fuckin’ eat him alive,” I growl.

She darts up to go see what’s keeping Kyle and then backtracks when Kyle shoves Alannah through the door.

She looks dazed and she’s holding her ribs, taking in rapid breaths. Motherfucker.

Her eyes widen when she sees me and then her neck nearly snaps when she looks up at the ceiling with our son still crying above us.

As much as it pains me to hear Leo cry, it’s killing my wife. The boy can never cry for long usually before she’s tending to him to see what’s wrong. Most of the time he just wants her attention and she gives in to him.

She goes to tend to him but Kyle steps in her way and blocks the door.

“You won’t stop me from going to my son,” she warns him.

She goes to take another step and he pulls his gun on her.

“What a big man you are,” she mocks him, “You’re seriously going to shoot a mother wanting to go to her crying son?”

“What don’t you two get, I’m not here to play happy families. He killed my brothers, I don’t give a fuck if your kid is upset or not. My mother will never see two of her sons again, I don’t give a shit about yours.”

“You’re wrong,” she says, “She’s never going to see any of her sons again. If my husband doesn’t kill you, I will.”

I can always trust my wife to stand up and not let anyone push her down and if I were Kyle, I wouldn’t stand in between a mother and her son. Especially my wife and her son.

Only, Kyle finds her amusing and laughs.

“What do you know about killing?”

“More than you, so pull the trigger or step aside because I’m going to my son.”

He wavers and she knows she has him. He’s all show and no guts. He doesn’t have the stomach to kill anyone.

“Lis, go with her,” he says, keeping his eyes on Lana and pulls another gun out of his back pocket.

He hands it to his sister and says, “Take this, if she tries anything, shoot her and if that kid don’t shut up, shoot him too.”

Even his sister is shocked, but she takes the gun and follows Alannah out of the room.

“I’ll be surprised if you see her alive again, there are sixteen guns hidden around upstairs and my wife know where they all are and how to use them all. Melissa won’t stand a chance against her, does she know to release the safety first?” I chuckle, feeling more confident as each second passes.

Movement from the window catches my eye and I briefly sag in relief.

“How about you tell me how you want to kill me then I’ll show you how you’re going to die,” I continue.

A shadow moves across the next window and I keep Kyle looking at me so whoever the fuck it is has the element of surprise.
