Rise in Arms: Book 4 in the Blood Brothers MC Series by J.A. Collard (26)

I must be out of my goddamn mind. I had a gorgeous and naked woman in my room, and what do I do? I refuse her offer to fuck her and take her out for a ride on my bike instead of my cock. I’m losing it, for sure.

A niggling feeling sits in my guts because I know why I did it—Charity is different, she’s special, and I don’t want to treat her like a whore. She deserves to be treated like a lady, deserves to be spoilt, and I know I can’t give her a life of wining and dining that I’m sure she could find out there in a heartbeat, but I’ll try my hardest to make her happy, because fuck me, she’s everything I never knew I wanted, and I’m not letting anyone take that away from me.

We ride through the streets, the rain we had earlier causing the cold wind to feel like ice on my face. When Charity came out of the clubhouse dressed in a short dress, I went back inside and grabbed my leather jacket for her. The light denim one she’d had on wasn’t going to keep the sting of the cold off her skin.

We pull up to my favorite place, it’s where I go to think when I have something on my mind. It’s a park not too far from the clubhouse, there’s a lake with ducks, and kids playing with kites as their parents watch them from nearby. People having picnics, or just workers having their lunchbreak outside, there’s just something about the place that makes things peaceful enough to sit and think about shit.

I turn the bike off and kick the stand down. Charity’s arms release from around my waist, and I pull my helmet off and hang it off the handlebars. Rising up out of my seat and stepping off, I help Charity with her helmet, and wince when I see her cheek is now turning a light shade of blue. Cursing under my breath, I gently move my hand to her cheek, running featherlight strokes along there. “I hate that she did this to you because of me,” I murmur, unable to look away from the damage Honey did to her porcelain skin.

Charity cups my hand, and her eyes look into mine. “It’s fine, I promise.”

I let out a deep breath. “I’m so sorry I left you alone, I should have had someone keep an eye out.”

“What on earth for?” she says, clearly confused. “I don’t need babysitting, Kane. I can look after myself, if you haven’t noticed.”

Oh, I noticed all right. I smirk and lean down, placing a kiss where my hand was just sitting, then straighten, looking around at the park. It’s not as busy as it usually is, probably because the weather hasn’t been that great. Placing my hand out once again to help Charity off my bike, she finally accepts it and raises her body up and off, looking at our surroundings as she steadies herself. “Where are we?”

My gaze follows a trail of grass that leads down to the river, where a couple are just about to head out on small canoes. “Just somewhere I like to come now and then.”

Putting her hands on her hips, she looks around, smiling. “I like it.”

Grabbing a basket that Daisy prepared for us, I hold Charity’s hand in mine and we walk side by side down to a grassy patch under some trees. I place the basket down on the ground and open it, taking out a small rug for us to sit on. Charity’s eyes light up when she notices me shaking it out, and I lay it on the ground for her. “Sit.” I gesture to the plaid rug, and she collapses on it with a big smile. That smile is something I would love to see on her more often.

“Sit with me.” She pats a spot beside her.

I crouch down and sit next to her then drag the basket in between us, removing orange juice, a couple of sandwiches, and some fruit. “Hungry?”

“Famished actually,” she responds, her focus now solely on the food.

“Good, because there’s a lot here.” I hand her a chicken-and-mayonnaise sandwich, and she accepts it eagerly, removing the cling wrap from around it.

“I can’t believe you did all this,” she says softly, pulling back from taking a bite. She pauses on what she’s about to say next and looks at me intently, then leans in close and places a soft kiss on my lips. “Thank you, Kane, this is the nicest thing anyone has ever done for me.”

“I doubt that.”

“It’s true. With Blake it was always about him, what was in it for him, before anyone else.” She sighs and plays with the discarded cling wrap from her sandwich.

I take a bite out of my own sandwich and look out across the water, giving her some time with her thoughts. “I know what you’re thinking,” she says, finally taking a small bite.

I snap my head toward her. “And what’s that?”

“Wondering how I ended up with Blake Reynolds.”

Finishing off my sandwich, I throw the wrapping in the basket and open some juice, offering it to her first. She takes a small sip, then I finish off the rest.

“Well?” she says after a moment.

“Well, what?”

“Aren’t you? You know, wondering?”

I wipe my mouth with the back of my hand and place my legs out in front of me, leaning back on both hands. I look at her, and have to admit that I have been wondering how she ended up with an asshole like Blake—but do I really want to know the details of how she fell for him? Nope, can’t say hearing about her wanting another man is something I need details on.

“I get it, Char, you wanted him, he wanted you. That’s all there is to it.” She smirks. “What’s so funny?” I ask, sitting back on my hands again.

“You’re jealous.”

“Jealous? Me?” I point a finger at my chest.

“Aren’t they the exact words you said to me?”

“Touchè.” I smile at Charity, really liking this playful side of her. “Okay, so how did you meet?”

She nibbles on her sandwich some more then crosses her legs as she looks out at the river. “I saw him fight one night.”

I raise an eyebrow. “You went to a fight club?”

She snaps her head toward me, ripping her gaze away from the couple canoeing across the lake. “Yes, why?” She looks offended at my question.

“I don’t know, I just wouldn’t have thought you’d be the type.”

“Well if your sister is, then so am I.”

“What the fuck!” I growl, unable to believe the bombshell she just dropped on me. “Hazel went too? What the fuck is she thinking, going into a place like that? I’m gonna—”

“Calm down,” she says, giggling. Giggling!

“What’s so funny.” I really can’t see anything funny about my sister putting herself in fucking danger like that. Those places are not suited to someone like her, at all.

“Oh, Kane, you’re so protective of her, let her breathe a little.”

I sigh and rub the back of my neck. “I just need her to look after herself. It killed me leaving her back home and coming out here to New York to be part of the club, but she wanted this degree, so I let her lead the life she wanted.”

Charity gets up onto her knees and crawls over to me, then sits between my thighs, her back to my chest. I wrap my arms around her waist and rest my chin on her head, feeling a sense of belonging. “She’s so lucky to have you, Kane.”

“Nah,” I say, shaking my head, “it’s the other way around. She didn’t have it easy as a child, no father, and a junkie of a mother. I did what I could to look after her, but she wouldn’t come and live with me. She loved my mother, even though all my mother wanted her for was to use her.”

“Well”—she looks over her shoulder at me—“she’s a strong and independent woman now, and I know you have something to do with that, so be proud.”

I lean down and kiss her sweet lips, her hand moving up behind my neck, bringing me in closer and holding me captive to her delicious mouth. Our kiss is slow and gentle, but when she slides her tongue along the seam of my lips, something clicks inside of me and I grasp her face in my hands, kissing her deeply.

Moans come out of her mouth, and I feel myself getting hard just from the sound of them as they seemingly travel down my throat. If I could I’d fuck her right here and now, but I don’t need eyes on us when I take her for the first time.

I pull back and look into her beautiful blue eyes, outlined by thick dark lashes. “How are you feeling?”

A small frown appears on her face. “What do you mean, Kane?”

“I don’t know,” I say, looking away, then back at her. “I just… don’t want to hurt the baby, that’s all.”

A wide smile forms on her lips, and she turns in my arms to look directly at me. “Is this the reason why you’re taking your sweet-ass time to make love to me?”

I let out a choked laugh. “Firstly, making love? I don’t make love, babe—I fuck. Secondly, are you seriously complainin’ that I haven’t fucked you yet? I thought I’d take it slow… isn’t that what your kind of girl likes? You know, get to know each other and shit first?”

She laughs out loud and shakes her head, glancing down at the ground. She looks back up then, her fingers moving up to run over my jawline. “Oh Kane, you’re too much. I don’t need all that wining and dining, and yes, the baby is fine. You don’t have to be so gentle with me. And also, yes, I would love to get to know you more, but I feel like I know so much already—remember, I shared a dorm with your sister.”

“So what are you saying exactly?” I ask, my gaze boring into hers.

“I’m saying, you big, muscled idiot, that I want you to fuck me!”

Fuck me! Those words alone on her lips have me nearly coming in my pants. She smiles, knowing the effect she’s having on me, and my mouth suddenly turns dry when she leans into my neck and sneaks her tongue out, licking just under my ear. My cock aches with need and I’m barely hanging on, about ready to unzip my jeans and let her ride it right here and now.

Charity leans forward and puts her lips close to my ear. “You know… if you touched me right here and now, I’d be wet for you,” she whispers, and I close my eyes and swallow around the sudden lump in my throat.

“That’s it, we’re getting the fuck out of here,” I growl, needing her under me and screaming out my name. I jump up onto my feet. “I can’t fight this anymore—you want me, you’ve got me, but know this, Charity: once I’m inside you, you’re mine. You got that?” I look down at her, ready to fucking explode at the need in her eyes that matches my own.

I reach down and pull her to her feet, and she inches closer, whispering in my ear this time, “Take me home so you can make me yours.”

A rumble emerges from my chest, and I can hear Charity laughing as I gather up the rug, not bothering to fold it but instead shoving it over my shoulder. I then grab the empty juice bottle and sandwich wrappers and throw it all in the basket.

With everything sorted, I snatch her hand and basically drag her back to my bike. Fuck what a pussy I am. Here I am trying to take it slow, be easy on her with her carrying a baby and all, and yet, this whole time she’s just wanted me to fuck her—well… make love to her. Make love? I don’t even know what that is, most of the time I’m selfish, just fuckin’ a bitch from behind till I get my release. I don’t even remember the last time I fucked a girl missionary style. They’ve always wanted it rough, and I’m only too happy to oblige.

Stowing the picnic basket on the back of my bike, I quickly place Charity’s helmet over her head, and all the while she’s still laughing. Right now, I don’t care if there’s a tornado and we have to evacuate, nothing–or no one—is stopping me from getting her into my bed.
