Muse by Nina Auril (7)

Brant

“Can you pass me the salt?”

Abby and I are sitting on the couch watching House like we’ve been doing for the past two weeks. This routine is getting kind of tired. Every night I make dinner and I only see her for the hour or so the episode is on for before she disappears back into her room. Two weeks. And I still know almost nothing about her. It’s like I’m living with a ghost.

“Abby.” I try and get her attention again. It’s always like this. She gets so involved in the show that she notices nothing else.

“Huh?” She looks at me, annoyance written all over her face.

“I asked for the salt.” She frowns and then hands me the salt before training her eyes on the screen again. I sigh and roll my eyes. I should probably give up and let it go but she has me curious. And I don’t like being ignored.

“How was your day?” I try but she only makes a noncommittal sound in response. “That good, huh?” She shrugs and I curse myself again for ever introducing her to this fucking show. I can’t believe I’m competing with a TV show for some attention.

“Do you have any hobbies?” What am I? Seventeen? Who asks that?

“I don’t have time for hobbies.” Right. I knew she was going to say that.

“Nothing else that interests you besides medical stuff?” Another shrug. I take a deep breath and then reach for the wireless mouse to pause the show.

“What?” She frowns at me. “What happened?”

“I paused the show.”

“What? Why?”

“Watching TV while you eat is bad for digestion.” I have no idea if this is true. Nan used to say it to me all the time. “I read it in an article today.” I lie.

“There’s no scientific proof of that.” She scoffs and reaches for the mouse but I grab it before she can take it. “Still, best not take any chances. Why don’t you finish your dinner and tell me about what else interests you besides medicine?”

She sighs and then gives another shrug. “I like to read sometimes.”

“Yeah? About what?”

“I dunno, biology, chemistry… history.”

“What kind of history?” She takes another bite of the veggie pie I made and chews as she considers her answer. “Biographies mostly. Famous writers and doctors.”               I fight the urge to roll my eyes. “What about music? Or dancing? Don’t you have any places you like to go to just hang out?”

“Hang out?” She looks horrified at my question. “I don’t hang out.”

“So, nothing besides books and studying?”

“I like to swim and do yoga, too.” My mind scrambles and focuses on the yoga thing. I’m imagining that tight little body of hers contorted into impossible positions.               “So you must be pretty flexible then?” I leer at her and she gives a dissatisfied huff.

“Is that all YOU ever think about? Sex?” She just said sex. Sex. Sex. Sex. Sex. My mind trips over the word that just left her mouth.

“I didn’t bring up sex. You did.” I smirk at her and wink. She rolls her eyes at me but I don’t miss the glint in her eye as she does so. “But, now that we’re on the subject,” I press my luck. “What’s your favorite position.”

Her eyes grow big and she sputters for something to say. “Okay, that’s enough. I’m going to study in my room.” And with that she places her plate on the table before us and flounces out of the room. I watch her bouncing butt until it disappears into her bedroom and I smile. She makes me feel a little out of control, like I’m always moments away from drowning but it sure is fun riling her up.

I clean up our mess and pile the dishes in the sink for later before I head down the short hallway to the bathroom. I start the shower and let it run while I tug down my sweats and throw it into the laundry basket. I placed a cordless radio in here earlier that I turn on and tune to the campus radio. They’re playing Trap mixes at the moment. Perfect.

I get in the shower and smooth my hand over my semi-hard dick. “Not tonight, Little Buddy.” Or any other night. I soap myself up and wonder about what position Abby would like. Boring missionary? Cowgirl? Yeah, I bet she likes cowgirl and the illusion of being in control. Not the way I do it, though.

I step out of the shower and grab a towel to wrap around my waist. The bathroom is small. I feel like a giant in it. I open the door to let the steam out and wipe a hand across the bathroom mirror so I can see. I grab the floss from the cabinet and begin the process of cleaning my teeth as I’m shaking my ass to the music. This is a particularly good song and I move my hips to the beat. What? I’m not against twerking.               I open the cabinet again to get to the toothpaste and as I close it again I spot a hazy face in the mirror’s reflection. Abby. She’s watching me and it’s giving me a thrill. I grind my hips to the music, shake my ass for her. And then, I drop the towel.

I don’t miss the sound of her strangled gasp as my bare ass moves to the rhythm. I bend over slightly to rinse my mouth. I look her dead in the eye through the mirror and hold our gazes for a second.

“See something you want, babe?” I turn around and let her see all of me for a second before I bend down to pick up the towel.

“Just say the word, babe….” I start. But she’s already gone.
