Chapter Twenty-One

" need to get going," she giggled.

"I know," I whispered back, then went right back on kissing her.

This girl, I swear to God, I couldn't get enough of her. I'd known it would be good, but I guess I never really realized how good it truly could be.

Harper was a wildcat in the bedroom –- I had the scratches down my back to prove that — but she was also impossibly sweet. Her eyes danced with joy every time I kissed her. So I just kept kissing her, certain that I'd never be able to leave this spot.

I buried my face into the soft spot by her neck and kissed a trail down to the top of her pert little breast. She gasped as I drew her nipple into my mouth, and the pearly pink skin tightened against my teeth. But her gasp was muffled as Cal tilted her head to his and covered her mouth. Cal moved away. "We need to go," he rumbled.

"We really need to go," Cal repeated, reaching over to smack me on the head.

"Fuck," I hissed, moving back and rubbing the spot where he'd smacked me. "You'd think getting fucked would make you less of a prick."

"Maybe now's not the time to be talking about pricks," Cal grumbled, looking down at his own. "And if we don't get out of here, we're going to fuck things up for Harper here."

Her eyes widened and I suddenly felt like a prick myself. "Shit," I sighed. He was right. We were running a huge risk here. Any second now the rest of the house would wake up, stumbling across the hallway in search of coffee and Danish, and the sight of me and Cal leaving Harper's bedroom would arouse suspicions I wasn't ready to deal with.

I should have been getting up, but instead I buried my face against her thigh again, inhaling her scent. This room, it was like there was a spell on us, where this was all okay. Where somehow we could both have her, the way we wanted her, and everyone was happy. The second we left this room, I was sure it would all fall apart. We'd realize that what we'd just done was stupid, and risky, and really kind of perverted when you think about it, and it would never happen again.

So if we just stayed here...

"Shit," Harper hissed, sitting up suddenly. We all froze. There was a creak just outside of the door and the sound of heavy footfall against the floorboards. I heard Harper gasp and then hold her breath.

"Who is that?" Cal asked.

"How the fuck should I know?" I hissed back, already tense. The spell was breaking, we were starting to snipe at each other again already.

"I'll go first," Harper whispered. She leaped off of her bed and went to her suitcase, pulling out a pair of fresh pajamas. I sighed with sadness see her perky little ass disappearing under the flannel, and longed to kiss her breasts one more time before she buttoned her shirt. She wound her hair up on the top of her head to disguise the sex tangles and turned to face us. "How do I look?" she whispered urgently.

Her lips were still bruised, and her face was still red from stubble.

"You look goddamn gorgeous," I told her, sliding carefully from the bed.

She laughed against my lips as I kissed her, and my heart soared to hear it at the same time that it crashed down to know that this... whatever it was... was about to end. "I'll see you out there," she said, patting my chest.

With one last glance backwards, she opened her door and poked her head out. Then, without turning back, she slid out, shutting the door behind her.

Leaving me and my best friend both standing there, as naked as the day we were born.

Cal grabbed a pillow and settled it right over his cock. I thought for a moment about brazening it out, but finally grabbed my pants and slid them back on again.

Then I looked at him, and sighed. "We don't have to talk about this now, do we, old woman?"

Cal stared at the ceiling, cupping his hands behind his head.  I saw his eyes dart back and forth, the way they always did when he was thinking hard. "You good?" he finally said.

I thought for a second. I'd been with Harper, finally, no matter how odd to circumstances. I'd still tasted her lips. I'd still been inside of that sweet pussy. "I'm fine," I said.

Cal nodded once. "Dick's didn't touch, so it's okay. Besides..." he trailed off for a second. "It's Harper."

I licked my lips. That was the difference. It wasn't like this was just some random hookup. It had been for her. All about her.

I nodded. "It's okay," I agreed. "It's Harper."
