Girl For Rent: A Dark Romantic Comedy by Dark Angel (47)

Jennifer

It’s crazy to think that some much has changed in the last three years. Our relationship has gone from strength-to-strength. No longer do we have to hide, especially now that we’re married. He popped the question in the middle of a game. His coach was more than willing for him to propose, but only if they won the game. They did that night, so in front of the whole college and opposing team, my name came up in flashing nights and I accepted his proposal.

I’ve met the coach a few times, and he said that Jason’s grades had improved and it was all down to me. Maybe? Sometimes, I think that it’s because Jason doesn’t feel the need to party anymore. He loves studying during the week, practicing and then on the weekend, he’s all mine.

I love the praise that I’m getting by changing Jason’s life around; mine was on hold for so long, it feels crazy being enrolled in the local college. But I had to do something with my life. I had the burning desire to study before and being with Jason gave me the encouragement to just go for it. I sold my old house. The one that I had so many painful memories of living with Tom and decided that I would start afresh. I needed to get rid of everything that was bad and start anew. I didn’t take one item from that house. I left everything in it, apart from clothes and Daniel’s baby pictures. He took his things, memorabilia's from when he was a kid, he took a lot less than I thought he would. I hated the idea that he had an unpleasant childhood. He reassured me as much as possible that I did the best that I could at the time. I just know that the future means that I’ll do an even better job. Sure, he’s older, but that’ll never stop me being his mom.

The house sold in an instant, I wanted a quick sale, so I dropped the price just so that I could get on with my life.

I didn’t use the money to sail around the world, or even go crazy and buy a new car. I used it to study interior design, and I love every second of it. I’ve even made some friends for the first time in my life. There are a couple of women, who like me have started to think about getting back to work now that their kids are in college. We get on well, and I love the idea of calling someone up during the week and just going out for a coffee if I don’t have any classes scheduled for the afternoon. It’s such a great feeling, one that I never thought I would possess until now.

As for Carla, we still speak once in a while. She’s even come to visit us a few times, and we’ve done the same. But our friendship has changed for obvious reasons. I could never tell her about the times that I share with Jason behind closed doors and she never asks. We converse about mundane things. The type of things that I used to do with my other neighbors, and at times it saddens me that I’m doing it with her.

Sometimes Daniel comes to visit. Jason told Daniel that Bethany was stalking him. He didn’t believe Jason at first until he saw the pictures on Bethany’s phone. That’s when he decided to break-up with her; it was obvious that Bethany wasn’t over Jason.

Daniel’s met a nice girl in college. One that seems to have her head screwed on and I’ve even met her parents, so I think that after college they’ll be wedding bells in the air. He’s keen on her, and they seem to want the same things in life, which I think is a great foundation for a relationship.

I can’t believe that Jason’s still not home. He went to a frat party and promised that he would only stay for an hour. He said that those sort of things didn’t interest him anymore. I just don’t want him to age before his time, the same way that I did when I married Tom. I became a wife and mother overnight, and I was only eighteen.

“Babes, how long are you going to be?” I purr as he picks up the call.

He sounds out of breath, “I’m on my way. Sorry, you know how it is?”

I shake my head. “No, I don’t. Why do you sound out of breath? Are you running?”

“I was to get into the car. The guys didn’t want me to leave. I told them one hour, and they made sure that I stayed a lot longer than that. I know that you have something special planned for tonight. I’ll be there soon. I promise.”

I sigh. “You’ve got your key right?”

He laughs, “But you’re at home. Why do I need my key?”

“Because I’ll be waiting for you on the dining table.”

Oh.”

I giggle like a naughty school kid. “Yes. So make sure you have your key before it melts.”

“Shit, I’m driving way past the speed limit now. You shouldn’t get me excited like this, especially when you know I’m driving!”

I hang up, not wanting to say anything more about the surprise. I head into the dining room and carefully lay on the table. I apply the whipped cream in between my legs and the chocolate on my nipples and check that the glasses of champagne are on either end of the table. They say that there’s nothing better than a champagne cocktail filled with cum. I expect Jason to get a treat, not because it’s our anniversary, engagement, wedding or anything else. But just because I want to please him. In more ways than one.
