Then We Happened (Happened Series Book 2) by Sandi Lynn (8)

Sierra

“Thank you for meeting with me, Dante.” I smiled as I placed my hand in his.

“Anytime, Sierra. Your father and I go way back. Now what can I do for you?”

“I heard that you’re planning on remodeling the restaurant.”

“Yes.” He slightly nodded.

“Have you found a contractor yet?”

“I have a couple I’m looking at. Why? Do you know someone?” He brought his hand to his chin.

“Actually, the person I was thinking of put in a bid last week.”

“And who would that be?”

“Cameron Cole of Cole Remolding and Construction.”

“Cole. Cole.” He rubbed his chin. “Ah yes, now I remember. Nice guy but a little too high priced.”

“His work is impeccable and worth every penny.”

“How do you know this?”

“Because he did some remodeling in my house and he also remodeled the Starbucks across the street from my office.”

“Why are you pushing this guy? Is he a good friend or something?”

“He’s my boyfriend and he needs work. He just moved permanently to California from North Carolina for me and he really needs to get his business established here.”

“I see.” He sighed. “If I were to hire him at his high price, what would I get out of it? I know you, Sierra. You’re just like your father in the business world and nothing comes without a price.”

“You’d get free advertising and commercials from my agency.”

He leaned back in his chair and folded his arms.

“For how long?” he asked.

“The first six months after you open.”

“Okay. You’ve got yourself a deal, little lady. I’ll give Mr. Cole a call and tell him that I decided to use his company for my remodel.”

A bright smile crossed my face. “Thank you, Dante. You won’t regret hiring him.”

“If you say he’s that good, then I believe you.”

“One thing before I leave,” I spoke as I got up from my chair.

“What?”

“He can never know that we spoke.”

He cocked his head and narrowed his eye at me.

“You’re doing this on the sly?” he asked.

“Yes, because he doesn’t want my help for anything. He wants to do this on his own, but everyone needs a little help, right?”

“I guess so. I won’t say a word.”

“Thanks, Dante. Have a good day.”

“You too, Sierra.”

I walked out of Patina feeling good. Now that Cameron had two jobs secured, that would help him out and at least get him started. Once word got out that his company did the remodel for both businesses, it would open up huge opportunities. It felt good that I could make that happen for him. But if he ever were to find out that I played a part in any of this, I wasn’t sure what he’d do.

As I was walking down the hall to my office, Kirsty immediately stepped out of hers.

“Where have you been? You have a meeting,” she looked at her watch, “in ten minutes.”

“I know.” I put my hand up and she followed me into my office. “I was in a meeting.”

“A meeting? What meeting? I schedule your meetings and I know nothing about a meeting.”

Rolling my eyes, I sighed. “I met with the owner of Patina. He was a good friend of my father’s.”

“Oh no. No. No.” She shook her finger at me. “Tell me you didn’t.”

“What? I just casually mentioned that Cameron’s work is impeccable.”

“Is he giving Cam the job?” she asked as she stood there with her hands on her hips.

“Yes.”

“Sierra. My god, you know Cameron specifically said that he wanted to do this on his own.”

“And? I’m just helping move things along. But now I’m done. He has two jobs secured that will make him a decent amount of money and word will get out and he’ll get other jobs on his own. There’s nothing wrong with helping someone. Maybe if more people did it, this world would be a better place to live.”

“Did you just hear the shit that spewed out of your mouth? You did it because you don’t believe he can do it on his own.”

“That is not true.” I pointed at her. “This is L.A. It’s tough out here and there are millions of contractors just like Cam. Right now he’s a little fish swimming in a sea of sharks. I’m just helping him become a bigger fish.”

“Ugh. Well, you better hope he never finds out.”

“He won’t. Now let’s get to that meeting.”

I waited patiently all day for Cam to call and tell me about Patina’s remodel, but I didn’t hear from him. Stepping through the front door, I instantly smelled the aroma of something amazing. Setting down my briefcase, I headed to the kitchen and found Cameron standing over the stove stirring a pot. I began to salivate when I saw nothing but his firm and beautiful ass staring me in the face with a white apron tied around his waist.

“My my. What a way to brighten up my day.” I smiled as I stood in the doorway of the kitchen.

Cam went to turn around and I instantly stopped him.

“No. No. Stay just like that. I want to stare at your ass some more.”

He smiled, walked over to me, and kissed my lips.

“Welcome home.”

“A welcoming it is indeed. What are you doing?”

His fingers slowly unbuttoned my blouse and then he slid it off my shoulders. Reaching his hands around the back of my skirt, he unzipped it and let it fall to the ground.

“I have some good news and I thought a romantic dinner was in order.” His lips glided across my neck.

“Oh? Some good news, you say?” I gasped as his hand slid up my thigh and his finger dipped inside me.

“Yes. Very good news.” His mouth traveled to my cleavage. “But, before I tell you, I must fuck you first.”

“By all means, fuck away.” My hands tangled through his hair.

He lifted me up and set me on the island counter. The shadow of his hard cock through the fabric of the apron excited me. But it needed to come off. Reaching around his waist, I untied it and let it drop as he removed my bra and tossed it on the floor. His mouth explored my breasts as I tightly wrapped my legs around him. He thrust inside me and pulled me closer to the edge of the counter while he glided in and out with soft, smooth strokes. His mouth smashed into mine as his hands cupped my ass and he lifted me from the counter, pumping into me like a wild beast.

“I missed you,” he spoke with exasperation.

“I missed you too.” I threw my head back and took in the pleasure he provided me.

He set me back down on the edge of the counter and continued to rapidly move in and out of me.

“I can’t wait to tell you my news.”

“I can’t wait to hear—Oh GOD!” I exclaimed as my legs tightened around him and I came.

“Yes. That’s it, babe. Fuck, you feel amazing.” He slowed his thrust, and with one last deep stroke, he exploded inside me.

My head fell onto his shoulder and his arms wrapped themselves around me. We stayed still for a moment to regain a normal breathing rate. Lifting my head from his shoulder, I looked into his happy eyes.

“Are you going to tell me your news now?” I smiled.

“I got the Patina remodel job.”

“No way!” I spoke with excitement as I brought my hands on each side of his face and kissed his lips.

“Yep. I got the call today. I can’t even believe this.” He pulled out of me and kissed my forehead.

“That’s wonderful, baby. I’m so happy for you.”

“Thanks.” He picked up the apron from the floor. “Do me a favor and stir the sauce while I go upstairs and grab a pair of sweatpants. Do you want your robe?”

“Yes, please.”

He scurried out of the kitchen while I stood there in all my nakedness and stirred the tomato sauce he made.

“Damn, now that’s a sight that will forever be imbedded in my head.” He kissed my shoulder before handing me my robe.

He grabbed the spoon from my hand while I slipped into my robe and picked up my clothes from the floor.

“I’m sorry I didn’t call and tell you. I wanted to surprise you when you got home,” he spoke.

“This was a wonderful surprise. Much better than a phone call. Where’s Rosa?”

“I sent her home early. I told her what I wanted to do to surprise you.”

“Did she know that you were planning on wearing her apron completely naked?” I smirked.

“No, and don’t you be telling her that part either.” He pointed the spoon at me.

I couldn’t help but let out a laugh. I loved him so much and I was incredibly happy.
