Chapter 30

Xavier

I woke to the sound of yelling and screaming. Maybe a little laughter was mixed in there too. I slept for shit as it was.

I’d come to the conclusion that without Morgan next to me, I felt like there was something missing. It was a feeling I didn’t care for.

Climbing out of bed, I moved toward my door, and just as I pulled it open, a few of my brothers went running past. All were dressed in some type of war gear, bandanas covering their faces and wrapped up around their heads. At that moment I knew without a doubt they had most definitely lost their damn minds.

Once the hall was safe, I stepped out of my room and walked toward the balcony. I leaned over to view the entryway to see all the guys who had gathered there.

“What the hell are you all doing?” I asked, gaining their attention.

“Get your shit on, X, those douche bags from Alpha are challenging us,” Corbin hollered up. “They’re all calling us a bunch of pussies, and you know we can’t have that shit.”

The Alphas were dicks, as in cocky rich fucks who thought since Mommy and Daddy paid for every single thing they wanted without pause, they were entitled to special treatment from everyone else too.

Each of us had a run-in with those punks at least a time or two. It was also the same house Britney’s little brown nose belonged to. Though I still had no idea exactly what it was we were about to do, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.

Call it childish, but the idea of somehow making those dicks’ lives miserable sounded pretty damn satisfying.

“Give me five minutes,” I yelled out as I hurried back to my room. The sound of my brothers hollering and cheering me on faded.

In less than five, I was downstairs and following the group out the front door. Most would find it comical to see us all with determined looks in our eyes, covered and painted up as if we were Rambo or something. But this shit was real to us. Being the leaders was important. It was a matter of pride, and that was something we wouldn’t willingly hand over.

But never had I planned for what I walked into.

There I stood in the center of our backyard as Isaac began to explain what was about to take place. The only thing I kept thinking was what the hell have I gotten myself into?

Mud wars, really?

Alphas versus us in our backyard. Well, that was the original plan, only it had been opened up into the neighbor’s yard, going both directions too.

The moment some jackass blew a fucking whistle it was on. There was absolutely no time to prepare for what was going down. Around the yards there had been multiple barrels and buckets filled with mud. I’m talking soupy, sloshy mud. The kind that splattered everywhere when it hit. Within seconds I was bombarded with one mud bomb after another.

Not ten minutes into the war and I had it in places I was sure a person has never had mud.

I don’t know how much time passed, but we were now down to only four guys. The other assholes had seven. Everyone else had decided they couldn’t take anymore. The twins and I were led by Isaac. The thing with that guy? He refused to give in. He was competitive and always had to be the last man standing. If he got knocked out, he was the first to seek revenge.

Something told me that things were going to get real dirty, no pun intended. Our shelter seemed to be an outdoor storage building that the neighbor used to keep his yard care essentials in. Mowers, shovels, that sorta shit. The Alphas were hovering a few hundred feet away, most likely planning some form of attack. The rules had changed; now if you were hit, you were out. We had to end this somehow. If we had stuck to the original plan and go until you were ready to drop, we would never be done.

Isaac was fighting for the house. I was in it for the mere pleasure of nailing all those fucking tight ass Alpha douches as often as I could. Each time I pelted Britney’s new boyfriend I laughed and the look of anger on his face made it even better.

Life was good.
