Billionaire Desire: A Billionaire Romance by Lauren Wood (3)

Hail

“Did you get an eyeful?”

“I guess. It was pretty quick though, so I am not quite sure what I just saw.”

“I can't believe that Stacy sent you.”

“Well I guess you’re just going to have to get used to it Hail. You apparently go through a lot of assistants, though it isn’t hard to imagine why. You won’t have that problem anymore.”

“So, what's going to make you any different?”

“Because I am not going anywhere Hail and we aren’t going to do that. We are going to have to learn to work together, at least for a little while. And you can start by not banging random women on your desk. At least not when I'm here please.”

She started out so strong, but the please at the end came with demure eyes that couldn’t meet mine.

I started to say something about it, but she was probably right. I shouldn't have been boffing a bimbo on the desk. It was just a spur of the moment thing that just took over.

“Good enough.”

“Well I thought that was going to be a lot harder to talk you out of.”

“I don't mind taking a long lunch and doing it right. It beats the hell out of doing it here, having you walk in on it and breaking it up.”

“I'm sure you'll be okay. At least you let her finish first.”

“Always. What kind of lover would I be, if I didn't?”

She looked away from me and I had a feeling that she was going to be easier to work with then I realized. All I had to do was bring up sex and her face was flaming, and she couldn't meet my gaze. It was a far cry from moments before. The steam that she was running out was out and she was faltering, showing her true nature.

What kind of assistant did I have now? I had seen her working with Charlie and if truth be told, I had mentioned it to the president that I needed a good assistant like Charlie had. I just didn't realize that they were going to give me Charlie’s assistant. I was definitely going to hear about that later from him, though I’m sure he wasn’t going to miss her mouth when she was all riled up.

The thing about Charlie’s assistant, was that she was the type of woman that didn't make me think about sex at all around her. Most women, all I could do was think about what I wanted to do to them and how I wanted to get into their panties, but Evony wasn't that way.

It wasn't because she wasn’t pretty, because I think deep down, she was. She just did everything in her power to make sure that a man didn't look at her that way. She wore clothes that were bigger than they should be and completely hid the curves that I knew were underneath the fabric. Her hair was pulled up in a severe knot on the top her head and she never joked about much of anything. Everyone around the office thought that she was a prude and looking at her now, I had to agree. The look on her face when she had walked in and seeing me with another woman was priceless.

“Do you have a schedule or does your assistant take care of it?”

“I haven't had an assistant in a couple of weeks now.”

“I wonder why.”

I stop for a moment and smiled at her. No jokes, but plenty of sass. I had a feeling that these little barb were going to be constantly coming my way, so I might as well get used to it. At least it wasn't going to be boring with Evony.

“So, I've been taking care of my own schedule. There isn't really a system, just a bunch of post-it notes, and most people will call me pissed off if I miss an appointment with them. Sometimes that's the best way to figure out what I forgot.”

Evony shook her head at me and acted like I was a two-year-old. She walked over to my desk and asked me where the post-it notes were. I handed them to her, and she looked at the bulge in her hand.

“Give me a little time to get this together and we will get it all straightened out. Do you at least know what you have to do this afternoon? Or what I need to be doing today, besides this?”

I just kind of shrugged, because I wasn't really sure what the assistant did. It had been so long since I had a decent one and I knew that mostly that was my fault. Every time I got one that wasn't too bad, I ended up sleeping with her and that ended that really quick. Once I slept with a woman, I lost all interest in them. I was repelled by the idea of commitment, so I liked it that way, but it didn’t bode well for keeping a steady.

“Well, if you see anything that has to be done today, let me know.”

“I think that I have a pretty open schedule. I know that I have a demonstration at three on the other side of town, but that is later.”

“Will I be coming to that with you?”

I usually didn't take my assistance, but I had a feeling that Evony was going to be a treat to take with me.

“I think that would be a good idea. Let you get a feel for the product and how this all works.”

She smiled and agreed, but I could tell that she was a bit annoyed with me. She had a very expression-full face, but the problem was there was no telling what the expression came from. The smile that she had now was not genuine and it did not reach her eyes.

“You don't like me very, much do you?”

“I don't know you all that well, Hail. I’ve dated guys like you before though, so I want to keep my distance. As long as you don't have to bring your trophies back to the office, I don't think we should have a problem at all. I don’t have to like you, to do my job.”

The idea of Evony dating, threw me off a little bit, because I would never see her in that light. She would always be the uptight prude that I saw walking around the office with her collar always up to her neck.

Evony said something about going downstairs and getting some supplies from the storeroom and I just waved her on. I didn't have much to say about what she did, but I knew that if she could give me some organizational skills like she had given Charlie, I would be doing a lot better. There had been several clients that I completely forgotten about, because I didn't have an assistant to tell me to go.

Watching her walk away was enlightening. Why hadn’t I realized how nice her ass was before? No matter how big and long her skirt was, it didn’t stop the fabric from molding over her thigh and ass as she walked. Maybe I was thinking about this all wrong. Most women were too easy for me and I was getting bored. I was ready for a challenge and for one reason or another, I saw Evony as the newest one.

“Bring me a coffee when you come back please.”

She looked back for a moment and my grin was wider than before.

“How do you like it?”

“However, you want to give it to me Evony.”

She rolled her eyes at me and I couldn’t help but cheese a little bigger. Evony was going to be my next project, maybe my best one yet. I was dying to find out how to unthaw the ice queen. I just had to figure out how I was going to do it first.
