Billionaire Desire: A Billionaire Romance by Lauren Wood (7)

Hail

I think my head is going to melt. Right now, in my skull, there was melting going on. I hadn’t heard her right. Surely not? But the longer I looked at my assistant, the more she trembled standing next to me as I got a little closer, and I knew.

“So, you’re a virgin?!”

The elevator door was dinging, and we were on the bottom floor. She shot me a dirty look to tell me without words that I was to shut up. I could see why she would want me to. She had a lot to keep to herself, but I just couldn’t believe it. How was I supposed to say nothing? I felt like my head was exploding.

“Keep it down Hail. I don’t need that getting around the office. I would never hear the end of it.”

“No one would believe it Evony. I mean, look at you. Heck, I don’t know if I can believe it.”

She sighed and I could tell that she wasn’t happy with the conversation. Why was I suddenly remiss that the beautiful body of hers hadn’t been touched in a while? It just seemed like a sad state of affairs. I couldn’t believe it, but then again, I could.

“I didn’t say that I couldn’t have had sex already. I just haven’t.”

“Why?”

It was the only thing I could think to say, and I could tell that she wasn’t too happy with the question.

“What do you mean why? I just haven’t yet.”

“But you’re like, what, twenty-five?”

She bit her lip. “Almost twenty-nine.”

“And you’ve never had someone that made you want to?”

I just couldn’t get my head around it. What was I missing? Was it a religious thing? I’d never met anyone that didn’t like sex, but she hadn’t even given it a chance. Why did I want to change that so badly?

“I want to talk about something else. You know, like the meeting we're about to have? I think that would do better with our time.”

She thought she could drop a bombshell like that and I wouldn't have anything to say? Evony didn't know me very well. I know that she just started with me, but she had been with the same company as me for a long time now and I know that she had heard the rumors. We had met many times before and I was never all that nice to anyone. So, she had to know that I was going to say something in return.

“Fine, you’re right. I just don't believe it.”

“Well it is, what it is boss. I think people worry about it way too much. I haven't missed it.”

“But you don't know what you're missing.”

“That could be true, but I don't think it's worth it.”

I just shook my head because I had a lot to say on the subject, but I knew it wasn't the right time. If she thought that sex wasn't worth it, she obviously wasn't doing it right. Fact that she’d never done it at all, had never occurred to me. No wonder I thought she was a prude. She just had this aura about her, like she was off limits and now I understood it a lot better. Good or bad though, it made me wonder even more.

“So, is there anything I need to know about the client we’re about to meet?”

She was desperately trying to get the conversation back to something work related, but I was finding it almost impossible to do so. How could I think about anything else, but what we were talking about? How could I possibly do that, when all I could think about was how badly I would want to be her first and only. It had never been an option to me before, except when I was younger and in high school. I had not partaken then.

“You don't really have to do anything. I will do all the talking. All you have to do is sit there and take notes. There's going to be some paperwork that will be handed to him at the right time and that's that.”

“Oh, okay. You know that you can give me more responsibility if you want. I do know the product very well and I'm always willing to help.”

Like I said before, I knew that she wanted to become a salesperson. Nobody wanted to be assistant forever, especially at the rate of pay she was making. It made sense to me to live on commissions and I told myself that I would do my best to give her the opportunity to do just that. I wanted to help Evony in more ways than one. There was a lot of things I could open her eyes about, if she’d just give me the opportunity.

When I got to the coffee shop, I had to wait outside for a minute before I could go in. All the talk of her innocence had had an adverse effect on my body, and it took me a minute to get it together. I told her that I had to make a call and that I would meet her inside.

After my heartrate went down and the knot in my pants wasn't so prominent, I walked in. From a distance, I could see that they were enjoying each other’s company and for a moment I felt the pain of jealousy run through me. I didn't like the way that her head was tipped back, and she was smiling so profusely at him. I didn't like the look of it at all. I didn’t want Evony laughing or looking at any other man like that.

Getting to the table, I could see that she was already pulling out some of the graphics that I was going to use. If it had been anybody else, I would have been upset, because she was doing something that wasn't her job. It wasn't her business how I work with the clients. But it was Evony and it was different.

“See I told you he wouldn't take long Dennis.”

Dennis looked up at me and I could see by the expression on his face that he wanted me to go away. Dennis wasn't worried about the smart house product. He was going to buy it for his new subdivisions. It was going to be on the commercials, because I'd already talk to him about it. He was already sold, but at the moment I think that Evony would have been one of my competitors and he would have changed sides. Just like before. It was apparent to me now, that loyalty did not go past a gorgeous girl like Evony.

I shook my head as I sat down, because this was not how I thought of her before. Evony was always a pretty girl. I'd always seen that she was pretty, but she was very uptight and not the type of woman that I was attracted to.

Now that I had seen her in her element, with a nighty on, everything changed. Now all I could think about was the curves that I had seen and what she was hiding in her clothes. How badly I wanted to pull the pins out of her hair and let it fall down her shoulders like I had seen her before. She had been such a sight and it was one that was very hard for me to forget.

“I didn't mean to interrupt you. Where are we have Evony?”

“We were just getting into features. I will go grab us all coffees? How would you like it Dennis?”

Dennis had a look that came over him that I knew well. He was taking her words to heart and I could see that he was thinking along the same lines as I was. It was really hard to think of anything else when those powder blue eyes were looking towards a man.

“Black.”

I chuckled as she left the table.

“You don’t drink it black.”

He smiled at me. “So, what is up with your new assistant. Tell me she tastes as good as she looks.”

Dennis was always talking about women and I was usually right along with him. I didn’t want to discuss her ass with Dennis. Not this time. Not her.

“She’s different Dennis. I have her on loan from another salesperson until I find my own.”

“So, hands off, huh?”

I agreed, but that just made him smile even bigger.

“Well good thing, I wouldn’t have had a chance if you were going for her.”

I sighed inwardly and tried to reason with him.

“She’s not like other girls.”

“I know. Do you know how refreshing it is to see a pretty girl that isn’t all painted up?”

Dennis was about ten years older than me and his body wasn’t holding up as well. He’d made his fortune when he was younger and never really had to maintain. He had money and got what he wanted from that fact. I wanted to tell him that Evony was out of his league, but I think that would have just encouraged him more and that was the last thing that I wanted to do.

“Yes, old fashioned, maybe religious.”

He frowned and that made me smile. Of course, he didn’t want to think of her that way. No man did. Not when all that was on his mind was naughty thoughts about what he wanted to do to her.

“Oh, I see.”

By the time Evony got back to the table, Dennis wasn’t quite looking at her in the same way and I was sitting back, reveling in it. He didn’t need to know. No one did. It was our little secret and my own personal challenge.

I had to be her first. I never wanted much of anything, but today I finally had something to shoot for. I couldn’t think of anything better, then getting in between her legs.

Virgin indeed. All it sounded like to me, was opportunity.
