One Last Kiss: A Second Chance Romance by Lauren Wood (97)

Chapter three

He was standing there in an apron cooking what he called his famous sauce for the spaghetti. I was nursing the bruise to my pride. I had lost by a fraction of an inch. I couldn’t stop thinking about how close I had come to being in the driver’s seat.

“I hope you’re hungry and I usually make enough for an army. It comes from my days in the Marines. I wasn’t sure how civilian life was going to fit in, but amazingly, I found my calling. What made you become a hostage negotiator?” My family had asked the same question and I didn’t have a firm grip on an answer.

“I know some people would say it was their past that molded them into the person they are today. I can’t make that claim. I fell into this profession. I was training to become a police officer when I found myself talking to a recruit about to take his life. I was able to convince him to get help. I was a natural, but I had to continually prove myself to those in the boys’ club.” I was watching him cook up a storm with the smell causing my mouth to water.

His custom-made leather biker jacket was strung over a chair in the kitchen. He had no dining room table, but he had an island with five black bar stools around it. I could hear the pot of sauce bubbling and he turned down the heat on the propane stainless steel stove.

“I’ve always known from the moment I was in khaki diapers that the military was my life. An injury to my knee sidelined me and made me think about the future. I wasn’t going to spend my time pining for something I couldn’t have. I don’t think that I’ve ever told you about my infatuation with you. I’ve seen you in passing, but I couldn’t bolster the courage to look into your hypnotic green eyes.” His confession caught me off guard and I was little tongue-tied.

“I had no idea.”

“The sauce is going to take some time to finish. It needs about an hour to marinate in its own juices. Whatever are we going to do with the time we have before dinner? I just want to go on the record to say there is no safe word. 1 hour isn’t near enough but it’s more than enough time to tease me. I do like what you are wearing, but I think it would look far better on the floor. I’ve been anxious from the moment you arrived to see what you are wearing underneath that.” I knew he was dead serious and I was responsible for putting myself into this situation.

I got up and stood there with my two hands on the straps of the dress. He snapped his fingers and turned on some music with a lot of base. He made the motion for me to twirl in place. I let him see my bare back and how I wasn’t wearing a bra.

“I’ve always wondered how you would handle yourself on the dance floor. Let’s see some dirty dancing to get us both in the mood.” I began to shimmy in place and put on a display worthy of any stripper in the business.

I had his pants filling out and jumping with enthusiasm behind his zipper. He was soon behind me letting me feel the hungry beast clawing at the zipper to get out. I reached behind and massaged his length, giving it the necessary incentive to grow to its full potential.

“We do seem to move well together, but I didn’t have any doubt. I remember that night better than you do. I was a little drunk, but I know how to handle my liquor better than most.” I was under the duress of a bet gone badly and there was nothing I could do about it.

“I knew it. You were purposely trying to get me drunk to keep me from panting after you. Those tequila shots gave me a hangover and brief flashes of many different positions. The one burned into my memory was how you somehow locked your ankles behind your head.” His hands had come around and his palms were rubbing my nipples into action. The telltale signal sent down below was evident from how my panties were suddenly moist.

“I haven’t been able to do it again. It wasn’t worth the pain I felt after the liquor wore off. I know we had an agreement, but I don’t think the human body is meant to bend that way.” It was the one month anniversary of the death that could’ve been avoided had I been thinking clearly. I didn’t see the signs. They were right there and I just didn’t recognize how far this man was willing to go.

“I can see your head isn’t exactly into this. What you need is the proper incentive.” He lifted me onto one of the stools and swiveled it around to face him.

“I can’t say there is a woman alive who doesn’t like oral gratification. Women don’t know what they are missing until they try it with someone who knows what they’re doing.” I had lost the wager, but somehow I became the winner by default.

I could feel the cool black leather against my skin through my panties. Solomon didn’t even bother to take them off. He pulled them aside and whistled his approval at how my lips were shining with invitation.

“I haven’t gotten my reputation for being a selfish lover. I find no greater thrill than the challenge of getting a woman off with my mouth and fingers.” The tip of his tongue sizzled along the inside of my thighs.

“I can be rather boisterous and hard to handle when I climax.” I placed my legs over his shoulders and drew him closer by holding onto the back of his head with both hands.

“I’m counting on it. I hope this is a good way to show you I can make a compromise. Dinner will be served, but I believe the appetizer is ready to be devoured.” He was getting close and my body was begging for the insertion of his tongue.

The first initial penetration was an awakening experience. I clawed at his scalp and pulled at his hair. I was listening to him hum a happy tune between my legs. The vibration traveled along my quivering walls. I was ascending to the top of the mountain and teetering on the edge.

He was sucking on my clit with one finger deep inside those convulsing muscles. He was making this come-hither motion with his finger. I didn’t know it was possible to have a g spot induced orgasm with that kind of intensity. It was 100 times more powerful than whatever sexual implement I had in my possession.

“I do enjoy how you treat your guests at dinner. Not only do you know how to sexually satisfy with your tongue, but the meal smells out of this world.” I was unceremoniously coming down from a sexual high.

He continued to consume the evidence of my arousal. I knew what he was going to want in return. I had to give him credit for sealing the deal with more than words. The directions were easy to follow. It felt like he had cheated by the numbers. It didn’t matter and his attention to detail was beyond reason.

I was assaulted by all of my senses at the same time. The smell of the food was wetting my appetite. The touch of his tongue was sending me to a place where no woman would want to come back from. The look in his eyes confirmed his hungry determination to make me weak at the knees.

The taste of his lips when he kissed me was delivered with his fingers still fucking me into oblivion. The sound of my screams echoed with the animals outside applauding the efforts. There was another sense of sexual awareness and it was going off the charts.

I slammed my knees against his ears and came for the third time. He finally had to pry my legs away from him with the crowbar of his biceps. He lost his equilibrium and his balance was disturbed by how I was constantly smacking his ears with my knees.

“You are very responsive. I don’t mind saying this time is far more rewarding than the first one. I’m going to do my best to wipe away any evidence of our time together a month ago. I have the date circled on my calendar. My heart has never been an open book, but maybe you’re the one that’s going to change that.” I felt a little insulted, but how could he make comparisons if he didn’t remember the last time.

“I can’t stand and there doesn’t seem to be a necessity to put my clothes on. They wouldn’t remain on long after dinner. This way we can cut out the middleman.” I was stark raving naked and I didn’t feel the least bit uncomfortable. It was the same way the first time.

“There’s a special spice in the meat sauce I would like you to try to identify. My mother swears by it to get my father in the mood. It’s the reason why I have five other siblings one year apart from each other. They were insatiable and never could take their eyes off of one another.” Theirs was the kind of love I wanted, but I wasn’t sure if Solomon was the right man for the job.

“My palate has always been quite formidable. It would be my pleasure to play your game.” He ladled my plate high with the pasta and covered it with the meat sauce. The aroma was intoxicating and had me anxious to dig in.

I twirled the sauce and the pasta together for a taste sensation that was hard to beat. I consumed everything in a sloppy carnivorous way. Each bite was better than the first one and there was an unknown element in the mix. I couldn’t put my finger on it, but there was something vaguely familiar.” I pushed the plate back when my cell phone began to ring with defiance.

“Bridget…” I didn’t get a chance to say anything more.

“We need you down at the museum. They have taken hostages and have requested you by name. I think you should know it’s…Evan Bates.” He had gotten away after leaving the rest of us to pick up after his mess.

I sat there stupefied listening to Captain Anders drone on, but I could only think about the little boy’s face. His death at Evan’s hands was an unconscionable display. I had a chance to make things right.

I wasn’t sure I wanted the responsibility of losing another. The only way I was going to get over the loss was by playing by his rules for the time being. The night of amour was going to have to wait.

“I just got the call. It looks like we’re going to have to postpone and maybe we might have something to celebrate after the dust settles. I can give you a ride, but I’m not sure how it’s going to look if we show up together.” I was gathering my clothes and wondering if I could hear Evan’s voice again without cracking up.

“I will get there on my own.” I was pretty much going through the motions by putting on my clothes.

My hands were shaking, but people depended on me. It was time to think about the problem at hand and come up with a suitable solution.

He was already out the door, but his motorcycle jacket was left behind with the keys hanging on a hook by the kitchen door. I smiled knowingly and there was no way I was going to pass up the opportunity to feel like a bad ass on a mission.

It would put me in the right frame of mind to face the one who had gotten away. I swore I was never going to make that mistake again.
