Then We Happened (Happened Series Book 2) by Sandi Lynn (42)

Sierra

Three months later…

Life was amazing, and as much as I loved being home, it was time for me to go back to Adams Advertising. I did work from home almost every day. Just because the CEO had a baby didn’t mean the work stopped. It was my first day back and a sadness resided inside me. Such a sadness that I couldn’t bear to leave Madison behind, so I took her with me.

The board members called a board meeting, and when I walked into the room with Madison in tow, they all looked at me in shock.

“Hello, everyone.” I smiled.

“Welcome back, Sierra. I see you brought your daughter,” Julian spoke.

“I did. Gentlemen, I would like you all to meet Madison Renee Cole, future CEO of Adams Advertising.” I smiled.

Five years later…

It was hard to believe that today was Madison’s fifth birthday and that Sierra and I had already been married for over four years. I loved us so much, and as much as we wanted another child, Sierra couldn’t seem to get pregnant. The doctors had no explanation because we both checked out fine.

I was walking past Madison’s room when I saw her and Sierra sitting on the floor looking at the two rows of shoes that were laid out.

“Which ones would you like to wear for your party?” Sierra asked her.

“It’s so hard to choose, Mommy. I like these Gucci ones, but these Stuart Weitzman ones are nice too. Oh, but I do like these Burberry ones.” She placed her finger on her chin and I couldn’t help but smile. “Why do I have to have so many pretty shoes?” she asked as she looked at Sierra.

“Because, darling, if you’re going to walk the path of life, you might as well do it in style.” She winked and Madison giggled.

Madison picked out the Gucci pair and as soon as Sierra put them on her, she came running out of the room and into my arms.

“Daddy, do you love my shoes?”

“They’re perfect, princess.” I kissed her head. “Go downstairs and see Rosa; she has something for you.”

“Okay.”

Sierra walked over and wrapped her arms around me.

“She’s definitely your daughter,” I spoke.

“I know and I love it.” She tenderly kissed my lips. “Maybe this one will be a boy.” Her eyes stared into mine.

“What?” I asked in confusion.

“I’m pregnant, Cam.” Her eyes filled with tears.

“No way! How?” I exclaimed.

“I think we both know how it happened,” she said, laughing.

“Are you sure? Like really sure?”

“I’m positive. I just got the call from the doctor before you got home. I couldn’t wait to tell you.”

I swung her around in excitement and then carried her to the bedroom, kicking the door shut with my foot.

“Guests are going to be arriving soon.” Sierra grinned.

“Let them wait. We have our own celebrating to do.”

Eight months later, Cameron and I welcomed Noah Matthew Cole into the world. A beautiful bouncing baby boy who weighed seven pounds six ounces. Maddie loved her brother and already played the role of being the protective big sister. Our family was complete. Cameron and I decided that two children were enough for us, especially since I had so much trouble getting pregnant the second time.

Delia met and married a man named Daniel, a man who owned his own small insurance company. He was a good man and everyone liked him, including Ava. As for Ava, she graduated high school and pursued a modeling career in New York City with one of the top modeling agencies. She was rising to the top and had already graced the covers of Vogue, Cosmopolitan, and Marie Claire. Not only was she a spokesperson for Chanel Cosmetics, she was also a model for Christian Dior, Calvin Klein, and Jimmy Choo.

Kirsty and James ended up having a set of twins, a boy and a girl, two years after Maddie was born. Our families did everything together, including vacations twice a year. Adams Advertising was still on top and Cameron’s construction company expanded from doing remodels to new builds of shopping centers, medical offices, and high rise buildings.

My dear friend Royce ended up marrying the woman of his dreams and was living life to the fullest. To this day, we still laugh at how we used to be and how we condemned relationships of any kind.

As for Don and Milania, well, what can I say? Did you really think it would last? They divorced two years after their marriage when they both lied to each other about what their plans were and ended up seeing each other at the same hotel with different partners.

As for me and Cameron, we had never been happier and were still in the honeymoon phase. We went on dates at least three nights a week and still had sex every day, sometimes twice. I bet you’re all still wondering if I went back to hitting the tequila bottle after my pregnancy. The answer was no. Tequila and I parted ways but did reunite on social occasions and social occasions only. I got my high and my fix from my family; my husband and my two beautiful children. A family and a life I wouldn’t trade for anything in the world.
