Backstage: A Fake Marriage Romance by Abbey Foxx (35)

Chapter Nine

Marissa

Dad stares through the camera at me in the same way he’s perfected over the years. It is a look that communicates mild panic, confusion, and utter disappointment.

“You need to try harder”, Mom says, to fill the gap in thinking time Dad needs to address the issue. “I don’t think you’re trying at all.”

“We’re coming back over”, Dad says finally. “It’s the only thing we can do.”

I’ve kept Elon on a long leash for the last two weeks, seeing him only when I absolutely have to, while my relationship with Carter and Logan has been absolutely blossoming. Naturally, Elon has finally worked out something isn’t right, and he’s gone behind my back to my parents to communicate what he sees as a lack of progression between us.

“That’s not necessary”, I say. “Elon and I are getting on well, I just need more time. If you come over here, I’m going to feel pressured, and, he’ll feel pressured, and-.”

“You should feel pressured”, Dad cuts in. I can tell he’s not very happy. “Elon says you’ve seen each other twice in two weeks, what have you been doing?”

Sucking, fucking, sixty-nine, toys, exploring a range of different hotel rooms, trying to convince Carter to do double penetration. It’s been a wild, crazy ride.

“Nothing”, I say, my dirty mind creating a zoetrope of the last fourteen days since that incredible deflowering fuck in my hotel room that sends shivers throughout my body. My eyes must sparkle a little bit too mischievously because Dad immediately jumps on my response.

“I don’t believe you, Marissa”, he says. “We take you to America to find a rich husband, we trust you enough in Elon’s company to leave you there alone and now this, you tell us you’ve been doing nothing.”

I am tempted to pull the cord out of the laptop, but I know it’ll only serve to infuriate him further. I need to convince him I’m doing everything I can to form a partnership with Elon and keep him away, because if I don’t, it means that I’m going to have to come clean about my dirty nights with Carter and Logan, which he’s not going to like at all. Just one of them would be enough to make him ill, finding out about them both might give the poor man a heart attack.

“What I mean”, I say, treading carefully to choose the right words. “Is that I’ve been doing everything I can to make this work between us. It’s a big decision and I want to get it right for the whole family.”

“Elon has complained you are not giving him the attention he deserves”, Mom says.

She’s just as bad as Dad. The attention he deserves? What the absolute fuck does she mean by that? I’m supposed to be here to get to know Elon and find out whether he’s suitable husband material (even though I have no intention of getting married just yet), but I always thought I had the choice at the end of the day. This isn’t the middle ages after all, although Mom and Dad seem intent on making me think it.

“What is taking so long?” Dad says. “It can’t be that difficult.”

Well, for one, I didn’t agree to come here in the first place, and for two, he’s not Carter and Logan.

“I need more time to decide”, I say.

“I’m getting very angry”, Dad says, and he does his angry face again. “I feel like you are wasting our time. If you don’t want Elon, just say, and we’ll set you up with someone else. I have been in contact with a businessman in California, and another in Chicago. You don’t have to stay in Boston if Elon isn’t right.”

“No”, I say, always worried that if I outright denied Elon as a possibility, they’d swiftly move me elsewhere. “I’m not ready to say no just yet.”

Mom narrows her eyes. “Then you’ll have to start behaving in a way that makes Elon want to stay, otherwise that may be out of our hands.”

“We want you to be happy”, Dad says, which is kind of uncharacteristic for him. He hesitates, hands pressed together while he looks at Mom and then back at me. “But you have to treat this as a professional and personal relationship. It’s a partnership in every sense of the word. If you are scared-.”

I cut in. “It’s not that”, I say.

“We know that the first time might be difficult, and Elon, well, he’s not exactly someone you’d see on the cover of a magazine”, Mom adds.

Thoughts of Elon and I even hinting at the possibility of it send shivers down my spine. I force my brain to think about Carter and Logan instead, and the nights we’ve spent together since the very first one.

Eight in total across the two weeks, each one better than the last, each orgasm one notch up on what is beginning to feel like an infinite climb to heaven. I didn’t think too much about it before, but right now we are racing towards it like bulls let out of their enclosure.

Carter, Logan and I are falling in love with each other, and somehow that’s not even the most extraordinary thing either. Even stranger is the fact that Carter and Logan are getting on like childhood best friends. They have this incredible dynamic that shows they care about each other as much as both of them do about me.

Most men would get jealous in this situation, but Logan and Carter just seem so natural and laid back about it. Logan teases Carter and Carter plays up to it to tease him back. I love it. Compared to the dry, witless conversations Elon tries to have with me about money and the future and the stock market and whichever big business he’s just bought it’s positively refreshing and so much fun.

On top of that, the sex is out of this world amazing, but that’s not everything and even though it’s an important part, each other part is just as crucial to why we work. It’s crazy to think that we gel so well together, and I feel luckier than I can even describe that it’s happened so fast and so easily. My only complication is the fact that our relationship doesn’t really exist outside of our knowledge of it, and as soon as it does it’s going to be complicated for all of us.

I’ll have to convince Mom and Dad, and the whole world at large to be more progressive and Carter and Logan will have to convince every single journalist across the states that they’ve just signed for the same team, just not to play football.

Logan wants to tell everyone immediately, but Carter and I are a little bit more careful. I love that about Logan. For a start, he doesn’t care what anyone thinks, but more than that, he doesn’t need more convincing to be sure of what he wants out of this too. The threesome aspect of it has never bothered him, he’s just taken it at face value and run with it. To be fair to Carter in that respect, he was pretty much the same, although much more reserved with displaying his feelings. I know he teases Logan all the time, but I’m pretty convinced that now we’ve begun, he wouldn’t want it any other way.

Our relationship is with three people and not two, and it just wouldn’t work any other way.

“Honestly”, I say. “I just need more time. Please don’t come out and ruin this for me.”

Dad sighs. “One week”, he says. “One. Although I have a feeling that Elon won’t wait that long.”

“You don’t have to come out here”, I reiterate. “I can do this without you being here.”

“One week”, Dad says again. “And we won’t be coming back home unless you bring a rich husband with you.”

How about two? I think. Two rich husbands that don’t give a fuck at the end of the day if I’m a princess or not.

Carter still doesn’t believe it, in fact. Whether I’m royalty or not doesn’t bother them. It might turn them on a little bit, knowing that they are fucking the naughtiest princess in the modern world, but it would never be a dealbreaker. They want me because I’m me, and I want them because they are real men. They fight hard on the field and fuck hard in bed and I couldn’t ask for a single thing more.

I see couples all the time out here, in restaurants, shopping together, walking down the street hand in hand, and I imagine just how conventional their sex lives are. For most people, the idea of being with a third would drive a wedge of jealousy between something already comfortably established, and they wouldn’t be able to cope with the stress.

Secretly, though, I think every girl would love to have an extra man in the room when it comes the time to bed down. Why wouldn’t you? One more pair of hands on every sensitive part of your body, one more pair of lips to kiss the parts that miss out when your mouth is engaged with another, one more chest to divide your time between, one more strong pair of arms to hug you, and one more cock to slide inside one of your tender little holes.

I’m open minded when it comes to sex, I think that’s fairly obvious, but I’m a hopeless romantic too. Some people don’t think those things fit together that well, but I’ve always said from the very start that I was looking for love as well as a pair of big strong men to show me how the world works.

Kissing and cuddling is just as important to me as anal sex with another cock in my mouth and the fact I can have both makes me think my relationship is both healthy and suitably well-balanced. To be honest, I don’t know many people who have that in conventional two-person relationships, and I wouldn’t want it any other way.

After some small talk and news from home, Dad clicks off the call, but not before Mom tries to give me some advice about wooing a man into bed. It’s enough to make me deep cringe, and I have to cut her off before she gets too far.

I have one week to convince Elon I’m still interested, and keep Mom and Dad away, which is probably going to be impossible, considering the fact that I can’t stand his company for more than five minutes at a time. Logan and Carter get it, and they know there is literally nothing between us, but they won’t put up with it for much longer because it’s time they don’t get to see me, which means sooner or later we’re going to have to make a decision.

Thankfully Carter and Logan don’t care about me being a princess because I get the feeling that when my parents finally get wind of what I’ve been doing here, they are going to do everything in their power to make sure I’m a princess no longer.
