Electric Chaos (Controlled Chaos Book 1) by Robin R Edwards (2)

Chapter 8

Katy

I haven’t spoken to Kellan since I told him I accepted Colt’s marriage proposal.

No, I take that back the only time he wil talk to me or text me back is when it’s got to do with business. I knew he would take the news badly but I never thought he would shut me out completely. I feel the loss of him deep in my bones.

There have been plenty of times I have thought about cal ing Maddox or Kane to ask what the hell is going on with him, but I am not sure if he even told any of them about me being engaged and I don’t want to make them worry for nothing if he is fine.

I have just arrived at Colt’s house. I grab my bag and head up toward the front door. I was a little shocked when Colt text

me and wanted me to come over and stay.

Usual y, he just comes to my house, but I agreed and here I am. I knock and wait for Colt to open the door.

When he does, he has his phone to his ear.

Pul ing it away slightly, he kisses my cheek, then says, “make yourself at home. I have to finish this call, then I will be free for the rest of the night.” Then he turns and walks away.

I drop my bag on the couch and start walking around. I have never been inside his house before, which I know is weird, considering we are engaged, but with my schedule, it is just easier for him to come to me at my place.

When I find the kitchen, I begin to look for ingredients to start cooking. He doesn’t have much but I do find enough stuff to make hamburgers and fries.

I have just finished cooking dinner, and since I haven’t seen him, wel since I got here, I go to find Colt to let him know it’s

done. Walking down the hallway I watched him disappear down when I got here, I walk toward the voice I hear. Once at the door, I lift my hand to knock but stop short when I think I hear him call someone baby. I lean in a little closer and listen.

“Hey baby. I can’t make our date

tonight. No. Something came up with work and I need to stay and finish it. Yeah, we can reschedule. Ok, sounds good. Yeah, love you too.”

I take a step back. What the hel ? He’s dating another girl, and actual y cal ed her baby and cancelled their date. Which he doesn’t do with me, and he just told her he loved her. Holy shit! He has been playing me. That son of a bitch!

Rushing toward the front door, I remove my ring, tossing it onto the table by the front door, grab my bag and walk right out the door.

Getting into my car, I turn my phone off.

Even though I haven’t talked to Kel an, I

want only him. I have their schedule, so I know the guys are home for a little while.

So, I head toward his house. I have tears streaming down my face, not from the loss of Colt but because I was such an idiot and almost married a cheating bastard.

I wipe the tears away and knock on his door. When it swings open, al he gets out is “Katy” before I throw myself at him, wrapping my arms around him, the tears start up again. He wraps his arms around me, al while saying, “What the hel ! Katy what happened?”

“I was such an idiot.”

“What happened?”

I pull away from him, and finally notice he is in nothing but a towel. Holy shit! I know I am staring but I can’t seem to look away.

He is freaking hot! I have seen him without a shirt before, but I have never seen him like this. I look him up and down, and then slowly make my way back up again. I just stand there and take in all six feet one inch

of him. From his shoulder length black hair, that is dripping water down his tattooed chest, to his six-pack abs, to that sexy as fuck v at his hips. I can’t help it, I lick my lips. I want to lick the drops from his chest and pul that towel off.

When he says, “Katy, what the hel happened?” I am jolted from my lust filled haze and back to the reason I am here. I turn and walk toward the couch. I take a seat and pat the spot beside me.

“Let me put on some pants.”

Before I can say anything, he disappears.

When he comes back into the living room, I haven’t moved. I am stil sitting on the couch, he takes the seat beside me, grabs my hand and says, “ok, now tel me what happened.”

“First, why haven’t you been talking to me? I know it was a shock when I told you that me and Colt were engaged but damn it Kel an, we are best friends and best

friends don’t just stop talking to each other.”

Kellan drops his head, “I’m sorry Kat.

I know I didn’t take it well when you told me about you and Colt, but I’m here now.

Please, tell me what happened.”

I sign, “Fine. Colt sent me a text earlier and asked me to come over and to stay. When I got there, he was on the phone. I real y didn’t think much about it.

You know. So, when I went to find him to tell him dinner was done, I over-heard him talking to someone. He cal ed them baby, said he couldn’t make their date that something came up at work, then he told them they could reschedule and said he loved them. So, I removed my ring and left and came straight here.”

I run my fingers through my hair and place my head in my hands. When Kel an doesn’t say anything. I look up at him, “Why does this shit always happen to me. Do I have stupid sucker wrote all over my face or something?” I look up at him, before saying,

“I should have listened to you. I never should have agreed to marry him. I swear I need to listen to my instincts a little better.”

I let out a yelp, as I am yanked off the couch and onto Kellan’s lap. I have never been in his lap before and before I open my mouth to say anything, his lips are on mine.
