Electric Chaos (Controlled Chaos Book 1) by Robin R Edwards (14)

Chapter 25

Katy

The next day, I was so damn excited, I couldn’t control myself. Everyone wanted to know why I was so happy, but I knew better than to say anything.

Around four thirty, I tel Monica that I have some stuff to take care of and I don’t want to be disturbed. She assures me she can handle the front. I know she can, or she wouldn’t be my second in command.

I set the conference room up, so that I can meet Starla in there. Right at five there’s a knock. I quickly show them to the room. She wastes no time getting down to business.

“I’m impressed with your designs. I would like to see if you would be interested in creating for me?”

“What would you like?”

“I want rock, meets fifties, meets current styles.”

“Ok. Let me see.” I quickly draw an outfit on my sketch pad, then show it to her. “Something like this?”

“Oh, hel yes. This is perfect,” she says excitedly.

“Do you want dresses, pants or

skirts?”

“Some of each.”

“Bold, bright or neutral colors?”

“All of the above.”

“Ok, give me a week and I wil send you some designs. You can tell me what you like and don’t like. Then, I will go from there. How many pieces do you want?”

“As many as you can give me.”

I slide a piece of paper toward the PA.

“Write down an email and number where I

can send the sketches to, and get in touch when I need to.”

The PA writes down the information then slides the paper back to me.

“Ok, ladies. I’l be in touch in a week.”

I shake their hands as they leave.

Over the next week, I work on Starla’s outfits. I send them to the email that the PA left me. The response is fast.

These are perfect. Starla said she loves them all. How long wil it take to complete?

I type my response just as fast.

I will need her here to get some measurements, then it wil take about a month to complete the outfits. When can Starla come back in?

My computer pings before I can even blink.

She said next Wednesday at seven.

Wil that work for you?

I type a one-word answer,

Yes

For the next few weeks I work on

Starla’s outfits. I have completed about ninety percent of them and in al honesty, it has kept my mind off the Sandy Black issue and with how much I am missing Kellan.

When the outfits are complete, I

email Starla’s PA to let her know. She sends someone over to pick them up. Not long after, I receive an email from Starla herself.

These outfits are fantastic. I love them. Thanks so much.

The email is short, sweet and to the point.

My favorite kind. I know my smile is huge, I can’t help it.

I send Maddox a quick text. I want to surprise Kellan. Once he tells me where they are, I will book my flight and let him know I’m coming.

When I arrive at the venue,

Controlled Chaos is already on stage. I run my hands down the front of my jeans,

before sliding them into my back pockets.

When the guys start coming off back stage, I wait for Kellan. As soon as his eyes meet mine, they light up.

In the next second, I am wrapped around him with his arms tight around my waist.

“Babe,” is all he says before he kisses me.

“I love the way you great me.”

“Wel , I love you.”

I smile. This man is something else and he’s mine.

“How long are you here?”

“I took two weeks off.”

Now, his smile, it lights up the entire room.

“You look good.”

“So, do you.”

“I missed you.” We both say at the same time.

The next morning, I wake to Kellan’s arms wrapped tight around me. I snuggle deeper into him. He feels so good and I have real y missed him. I don’t want to move but nature cal s. So, I slip out of bed and make my way to the bathroom.

When I step out. Maddox is sitting at the table, he lifts his head, giving me one of those guy nods. I make my way over to him.

“Hey, you,” I say as I shoulder bump him.

His lips twitch. “I’m surprised to see you.”

“Why?”

He shrugs, “figured you wouldn’t be able to move.”

I laugh and slap his arm.

“You need to stop.”

I study Maddox before asking, “How are you doing?”

“Good, I guess.”

“Mad,” I place my hand over his, “you know, if you ever need to talk, I’m here.”

He gives my hand a squeeze, “I know. So, how’s the shop doing?”

“It’s doing great.”

“How are you doing with this whole pregnant woman thing?”

I cringe a little at the mention of that woman. “I’m doing ok.”

“Katy, you are a terrible liar. Tell me.”

It wasn’t a question but a demand. So, I tell him everything. When I’m done, I look at him. He just shakes his head at me.

“I don’t know what to do.”

“You said Kel an contacted Bradley?”

“Yeah, but we haven’t heard back.”

“Give it a little more time. He wil cal when he has something to give. If there anything to find, he wil find it.”

I have final y pushed all thoughts of that woman from my mind. I am walking with Kellan toward the stage, when someone yells, “Kellan, I hear your going to be a dad.

Are you happy about that?”

We stop dead. Kel an turns and looks toward where the question came from.

Finding who asked it, he walks right up to him.

“We don’t know if that child is even mine, so until we know for sure, don’t be yelling that shit out.”

Then Kellan turns, grabs my hand and we continue our walk into the venue.

“Are you watching from back here?”

“Yeah.”

“Are you ok?”

“Yeah.”

He stares into my eyes. I guess he final y finds what he is looking for because he says,

“Good,” before kissing the breath out of

me. He turns and walks away before my brain starts working again. I walk over to the side of the stage, so I can see Kellan but stil be out of the way, that’s when I notice Sophia. I make my way over to her.

“Hey, how are you?”

She turns and looks at me, “I’ve been better?”

“Maddox giving you problems?”

“That’s an understatement.”

“I get it, I’ve known him a long time.

That’s just the way he is. Once you break through the shell he wears, he really is a great guy.”

“Yeah, I wil believe that when I see it.”

Then she turns, and before I can say anything else, she walks away.

When my phone starts ringing, I pul it from my pocket, seeing Colt’s name flash across the screen, I hit ignore. I wonder if I

should block his number, since he is not taking the hint.

Know that the show is almost over, I make my way away from the stage. It wil be bustling with roadies and stage crew and I want to be far away and out of the way.

When my phone begins to ring again, I stop to get it out of my pocket, when Colt’s name flashes again, I hit ignore once more, making a mental note to indeed block his number.

When someone grabs my upper arm,

I’m startled. Thinking I didn’t get far enough away to be out of the way, I look up to apologize and freeze. It’s not one of the stage crew or roadies, no, Colt has a hold of my arm.

I jerk my arm away, “let go of me. How did you find me anyway?”

“We need to talk.”

“No, we don’t. How did you even get back here?”

“Don’t worry about that. Can we talk, please?”

Not wanting to cause a scene, I lead him toward the back and the buses. I know there is security guards back there and that they can escort him out without anyone seeing.

Once we are outside, I swing around, “Now, what the hel do you want?”

“I’m sorry about what you heard. She meant nothing to me. Please come back to me. I love you Katy.”

I clench my fists at my sides. Punching him in his face would definitely cause a scene. I take a deep breath and try to remain calm, but I can feel it slipping. “Colt, I don’t care about your apology. I don’t love you. I wil not take you back, not now and not ever.”

I can see the anger in his eyes, but before I can say anything else, he crushes his mouth to mine.
