Blair stepped down from the porch and leisurely made her way out to the barn. It had only been two days since their clan had been forced to move to another town. This time it was the country life in Kansas, and despite the endless fields of crops with little else to see, it still somehow seemed peaceful to her.

It had also been two days since she’d seen Chance and Alex. Since they were the two in charge of their blood supply, it had been their responsibility to transport the blood and keep it refrigerated while meeting everyone at the new location.

She missed them terribly, and wanted to ask her father about them, but was worried her curiosity would give her away.

Their arrangement was new to her and regardless of how wonderful it was, she still couldn’t help but feel uneasy, like the rug might be pulled out from underneath her at any moment.

She pulled at the heavy red barn door and used all of her strength to open it. The vacant space looked perfect for a Halloween scary attraction. Spider webs decorated the corners. Half broken up bales of hay lay scattered around the old horse stalls.

If she wasn’t so intrigued by the serene beauty of it, she might have been spooked. Her curiosity had always been greater than her fears, though.

The sound of footsteps broke her from her thoughts. She spun around to find Alex standing in the doorway. His dark hair and baby blue eyes were the most welcome of visions.

She ran to him and jumped up into his arms. “I missed you.”

Staggering backward from her force, he laughed. “I can see that.” Alex put her down and lifted her chin with his forefinger. “How have you been?”

“Fine. Lonely.”

“Me too, babe. Me too.”

“Where’s Chance?”

“He should be coming up soon. We just got –.”

“Did I hear my name?”

Blair turned to see Chance walking toward them. His strong masculine features shadowed by the harsh sunlight which beat down on them.

“Chance!” She raced to him, showering him with kisses while he picked her up and swung her around.

“Whoa there, hon. Are you trying to kill me?”

Alex smirked. “She about attacked me the same way.”

“I’m sorry. I can’t help it. I just missed you two so much.”

“Yeah?” Chance looked over to Alex and nodded in her direction. “I think we may be spoiling her.”

“Stop.”

“No, maybe he’s right. I mean you have been pretty needy lately.”

“Would you two stop already.” She smiled. “I know you’re teasing me.”

“Oh? Are you going to deny being a little bit spoiled?” Chanced asked.

“I hardly call it spoiled if we’re all having fun. I never hear you two complaining.” She placed her hand on her hips and shrugged. “But, if that’s how you want to see things, then fine. I’ll just be on my merry way.”

Alex looked over at Chance, both men watching her as she turned her head and stomped off into the distance.

“Don’t think we’re going to fall for this.” Chance shouted to her.

She smiled, knowing full well that it would only take a few minutes of her shaking her tushy and sauntering with her black boots before they forgot about their stubbornness and gave into what they all wanted.

The thought had no sooner crossed her mind when she felt the familiar hands of Chance lifting her up and carrying her back into the barn.

Alex was quick to close the barn door behind them as Chance all but threw her onto a giant pile of hay.

“Hey!” she protested.

“Oh, come on. Don’t go looking all innocent when you storm off shaking your ass and wearing those…” Chance let out a sigh. “Those boots that you know neither of us can resist.”

Lifting one of her legs up she stretched it out until she could place her foot on his chest. “Do you mean these boots?”

“She’s evil.” Alex said.

“And a spoiled brat.” Chanced added.

“Am I, though? Or am I just too darn cute for you to resist.”

“Both.” Alex and Chance spoke in unison.

Chance knelt down beside her, as Alex did the same on the opposite side. Her hands reached out to each of them instinctively. She had so missed their touch.

“Just how much did you miss us?” Alex asked her, his heavy breaths raining down upon her neck.

“Enough to want to do very naughty things with you. With both of you actually.” She replied.

Chance brushed his thumb along her lower lip. “You’re nothing but trouble, baby.”

“Trouble is such a bad word to use. I prefer naughty.”

Alex nodded. “Well that does suit her, Chance.”

“True. But the real question is, what are the two of us going to do with you.”

“Don’t you worry your handsome heads about that. Just let me take the lead. I’ll show you what you want without even knowing you wanted it.”

Both men chuckled before Chance replied. “You’re so damn bossy.”

“They don’t call me bossy boots for nothing.” She winked.
