Torment (Savages and Saints Book 1) by C.M. Seabrook (26)

Chapter 29

Zee

I don’t think Kade had any intention of coming back,” Quinn mumbles against my chest, feigning indignation.

“He’s a good friend.” I chuckle against her temple.

“And a terrible brother.”

I roll on top of her, spreading her thighs with my knee, then run my hand down her torso, flattening my palm on her stomach. “We’re having a baby.”

She lets out a shaky breath and nods.

“Are you scared?”

“Terrified,” she admits. “But mostly because it’s going to take a lot of convincing for Abbott not to kill you.”

“He’ll get over it once I have a ring on your finger.” I press a kiss to the tip of her nose.

She pulls her bottom lip between her teeth. “About that

“You already said yes, no taking it back now.”

“I wasn’t thinking about it. I just wondered...when?”

“I can have us on a plane to Vegas in three hours.”

She laughs. “I’m serious.”

“So am I.” Very.

“I’m not eloping.”

“You want a big wedding?” I drag my fingers across her collarbone, then cup her breast and swirl my tongue over the bud, feeling it harden against my mouth. “We can do that.”

Quinn trembles beneath me, her thighs wrapping around my hips, trapping me against her body as her fingers tangle in my hair.

“No. Just something small.” She moans when I take her other nipple between my teeth. “With my family.”

“Anything you want.” I’d give her the whole fucking world if I could.

“Shit,” she mutters, starting to wiggle beneath me and push at my chest.

“What?”

“Where are my clothes?” She starts to roll away, and I grab her wrist, pulling her back to me.

“I was thinking of implementing a no-clothes rule here,” I say, running my hand across the curve of her hip.

She raises a brow. “That might be difficult with all the windows.”

“One-way windows, sweetheart.” I tap my head and wink.

She chuckles. “I guess you thought of everything.”

“I did.” Rolling out of bed, I cross the room and get the duffle bag that's tossed in the corner, digging through it until I find what I’m looking for. Crawling back on the mattress beside her, I nuzzle her ear. “I probably should have given you this the first time I asked, but I was a little preoccupied with wanting to bury my cock inside you.”

I place the small box in her hands.

Her tongue darts out over her lips as she slowly opens it, and gasps. “Zee.”

Taking the diamond ring, I slide it on her finger.

Tears gather in her eyes and she shakes her head. “You planned this?”

“I hoped for it.” I take her chin between my thumb and finger, and kiss her. “Do you like it?”

“It’s gorgeous. But, this,”—she places her hand over my heart—“this is enough.”

My chest constricts at her words.

“I have to call Makena,” she says, apology in her voice. “Pretty sure I missed my flight.”

I frown. “You’re still going?”

Disappoint twists my gut.

Quinn places a palm on my cheek. “You promised not to leave. I won’t leave you. Plus,” she says as she gets out of bed, hair tousled, cheeks pink, and gloriously naked. “We have a wedding to plan. But I need to tell her I won’t be coming.”

“Oh, you’ll be coming, sweetheart,” I wink at her.

Her smile is radiant, and she laughs. “I’m going to take you up on that offer when I get back.”

Chuckling, I lay back on the mattress, hands behind my head, grinning like a fool as I watch her disappear down the hall. The sense of rightness is overwhelming.

I’m getting married. Going to be a father. Two things that should terrify me.

But the only thing that worries me is not being enough for Quinn and our child.

I won’t break my promise to her. With Quinn by my side, I’ll fight my demons daily, allowing her goodness to be the light in my soul until all the darkness is eliminated.

Never thought I could love. Didn’t think it was possible.

But the messed-up truth, the one Quinn’s made me see, is that I’d loved too many things I shouldn’t have. The high I’d found in drugs, alcohol, fame. They’d consumed me. Even the torment of my guilt had been an addiction.

Never again.

Only Quinn. She’s the only drug I need.

A squeal from the other room has my heart pounding, and me bounding out of bed, racing down the hall, fear spiking through me.

“What’s wrong?” I say, as I barrel into the room.

Quinn is standing with her back to me, her phone in her hands, and I see Makena Fraser’s wide-eyed expression on the screen staring at me, and I realize too late that I’m naked, and just barged in on the two of them FaceTiming.

Quinn turns, but not quick enough, because I’m pretty sure her cousin just got a good look at my entire package.

“I thought I heard you scream.” I rub the back of my neck, and wince.

Quinn, who’s back in the outfit she was wearing earlier, lets her gaze drift down my body, a grin spreading on her lips.

“That was me,” Makena says, from the phone, and I swear my face turns bright red, even though I know she can’t see me anymore. “Congrats on the news.”

“Thanks,” I mutter.

“Oh, and Quinn,” Makena says, chuckling. “I can see why you said yes.”

Quinn bites her bottom lip, holding back a laugh before ending the call.

“Reconsidering that no-clothes rule?” she asks, grinning.

“Hell no.” I stalk towards her and gather her in my arms. “Speaking of which, you’re wearing way too much clothing for me to make good on my earlier promise.”

She laughs as I scoop her up in my arms and carry her back to bed. And as I make her come for the second time, my mouth on her pussy, tasting her orgasm, I know there isn’t a luckier bastard in the world than me.
