She nodded, taking a deep breath and kissing me. “I’m sorry I’m such a mess. I’m really trying to be strong,” she said in the most defeated voice I’d ever heard.

Fuck, I was such an asshole. I looked at her and had no words. I searched her eyes and then pulled her face to mine. I rested our foreheads together. “Madelyn, you’re the most amazing woman I know,” I said softly against her lips. “Never apologize for having emotions. It’s one of the many reasons you’re the love of my life.” I kissed her softly.

I knew this could get out of hand quickly, and I really didn’t want to deal with the write-up if I was late, but I needed her so bad.

“I love you.” I told her as she turned her head toward mine to kiss me back.

“I love you the most.” She smiled. “Now go, before you get in trouble or something. And Seth? Thank you. For taking care of me… and not just like you did in the shower. Always. Now go. I can’t have you being late on my behalf.” She curled back up in our bed, her big maternity pillow between her legs.

“I won’t, baby. I already talked to Matt. Rest up today. When I get home later, you and I are taking a trip to Pound Town.” I kissed her softly once more before starting toward the door.

She laughed. I knew she would. It made me smile. She made me smile, almost always.

“Deal. These hormones got me like a rabid animal that just wants to visit Pound Town every single day.” She giggled.
