Isla

 

The sinful note in Kai’s voice made my center ache. I’d never been so sated and yet so starved. It had me wondering what else this surfer was capable of. Every touch was a brushstroke of passion and yet so meticulous.

Now I knew what he’d meant about the patient gentleman.

I took him in, watching me watch him, drowning in the push and pull of our gazes. When his eyes dropped, tracing along my collarbone to my neck, I could sense it and tingling started there.

Kai suddenly leaned forward and kissed the hollow of my throat. I wrapped my arms around his head and pulled him close, reveling in the feeling of his soft lips and rough beard against my skin. My fingers were teasing through his soft and wild curls. When he stopped, I sat back and smiled at him.

Kai smiled and put his hands behind his head. “Don’t mind me. Merely memorizing what it’s like to have you here.” His voice became even more gravelly. “In my bed.”

I smiled and scrambled off his bed. Kai leaned forward, hands raising and alarm leaping into his eyes. Then his eyebrows raised, followed by a smirk and he watched me slip my panties off, keeping my gaze on his. Breathing a little harder, Kai followed me and kicked his pants, then boxers off.

Swallowing, I eyed the thick rod between his legs. Part of me was amazed I’d been so bold earlier, but another part of me was purring in satisfaction. However, I was a little nervous at the difference between our sizes. Kai suddenly seemed huge in comparison to me. I watched as his face became filled with understanding and he lifted a hand to my face.

Rubbing a thumb along my cheekbone, he murmured, “No rush.”

“I want only you the first time,” I said, trying to sound bold.

“Uh…” Kai’s lips twitched. “Excuse me?”

Stepping up to him, I ran my fingers around the base of his deltoid, then down to his biceps and triceps. Each one seemed to leap and tense under my touch. It was thrilling to have a man like this responding to me.

“Nothing but me and you,” I explained. “You – holding me up.” I paused. “If you don’t mind.”

“Oh.” Kai’s eyes were dancing as he leaned down to nip at my lips. “Been thinking about this a lot, have we?” I blushed brightly. “Oh, no, I don’t mind at all.”

My fingers tightened on Kai as our bodies became flush. He ran his fingers up and down my spine, before gripping my ass and grinding into me. I could feel his hardness pressing against me and my breathing became shallow. Our lips met and then I gasped into his mouth as he lifted me.

Now it was only Kai. Holding me up. Kissing me gently. Gripping under my thighs.

Squirming against him, I wrapped my legs around his waist and hooked my ankles. The tip of him brushed my center and I gasped again.

Kai kissed me long and hard for a second, then broke away. “Look at me,” he murmured, his voice soft. “I need to see you.”

Nodding, I bit my lip as Kai slid in, then I arched against him as he slid in more and more. It was getting harder to keep my eyes open, but I wanted to see the look in his eyes too.

There was an intensity there, conveying every shade of love and joy imaginable. I almost wanted to cry. But then he slid in completely and at being filled, every thought flew out of my head.

All I could do was feel.

Kai was holding me so tightly, I couldn’t tell where his heartbeat left off and mine began. Nor where he left off and I began. We were whole.

“Isla,” Kai said in a choked, rough voice.

He began to move then, pulling his hips back and circling them forward, while guiding mine. Everything centered on him. On me. Our pleasure was shared as the cycle built and built, spiraling higher between us. I could hear his name falling from my lips, hear him calling for me – me calling for him – both of us lost amidst this shared ecstasy.

I clung to him, riding the wave of it together and then I was shattering. Quivering, I sensed him following and the harsh, masculine sound he made sent a glow of triumph through me.

Walking us over to the bed, Kai dropped me down onto it and then crawled in after, sprawling over me. Running my fingers through his hair, the waves of pleasure lapped at me for a while longer, the sense of it falling away like a slow-moving tide. Kai seemed to drift on it for longer than I did, his head on my shoulder and his breathing quick against my skin.

Finally, he lifted his head and looked at me. “Promise me something?”

My heart gave a bound in my chest and I nodded, smiling at him. “Anything.”

“Stay,” Kai said, his voice filled with an aching kind of desire. “Please, please stay.”

Eyes wide, I reached up to hold his face. “Kai. Where was I going?”

A shudder went through him and his eyes closed. “Isla, I-I don’t know if I could ever live anywhere else. And I know that living so far from everything, giving up–”

Leaning in, I silenced him with a kiss, a hungry and powerful one. Kai’s hands slipped around my back and he pinned me completely under his body. When we broke apart, I fixed a fierce look on him and he smiled slightly.

“I would give up anything for you, Kai,” I said. “If I had to stop painting–”

“But you don’t,” he interrupted in a rush. “Don’t give up your dreams for me.”

“Kai,” I said. “Don’t you realize – you became part of that dream! You and this place, it’s rooted itself into my very soul. I’ve never been so happy. And besides, I’m still technically on the run. So, I really have nowhere to go.”

“Mhm, nothing hotter than a fugitive,” Kai teased.

“I mean it, Kai. I’m staying.” I wrapped my arms more tightly around him. “I don’t care if we have to live in a cave. I don’t care if we wind up in Siberia. As long as I’m with you.”

There was no trace of uncertainty in my voice, only a fervor and resolve that sounded a little foreign to it. But then, I’d never been so sure of anything.

Kai’s eyebrows raised, but his smile became blinding. “Thank you,” he said. “I want you to make a list, though.”

“A list?” I asked.

“Everything you want that will make you happy here. I’ll get it all for you,” Kai said.

Smiling, I thought of what I’d put down on that list and nodded. “Okay.”

“Okay.” Kai leaned down and kissed me. “You tired?” I wriggled against him, sliding my foot along the hard edge of his quad and Kai grit his teeth. “Isla…”

“Not tired at all,” I said. “I–”

I didn’t get to finish what I was saying as Kai captured my mouth. It didn’t matter anyway. Kai’s body was enveloping mine and pushing me deeper into the mattress. Our tongues clashed as I arched against him, our hips brushing each other and making me whimper.

Abruptly, he broke the kiss, sitting back. Reaching down, he spread my legs apart and I shivered in anticipation. Then he plunged into my warmth and I gasped.

Kai had me pinned in place as he first began to move against me, gyrating his hips and teasing me with slow thrusts. But then he leaned back down, pulling me to him. Our skin slipped and slid as I lifted my hips to his and we created a wild rhythm. Each of us seemed intent on bringing the other to the deepest and most potent pleasure.

Again, I came undone first. I sensed Kai holding back as he watched me, which stoked mine even higher. It echoed through me once more as he finally came and buried his face in my neck. For a while, we lay together, catching our breath and snuggling together.

“Maybe this can be our workout,” I suggested my thoughts eventually straightened out. Kai laughed and rolled off me. “What, you don’t think so? Tapped out already?”

Suddenly I was flipped onto my stomach and Kai’s hands were drifting up and down my sides, then down to my ass and thighs. I shivered as I looked over my shoulder at him.

“If you’re asking if you’re gonna be sore tomorrow…” Kai said, bending down to kiss the base of my spine. “The answer is yes.”
