Devin (The Scorpion Series Book 1) by Delia Petrano (13)

Devin

Waking up in pain is not the best way to wake up, not in the slightest. Moving my head the light stings my eyes. Fuck it’s time to get your ass up Devin, you made Erika a promise to come back home to her and I’m not breaking that promise. I slowly get up and  apply pressure on my wound that won’t stop bleeding. When I looked up I saw a blue mark thank god, I follow the blue mark to I reached the start of this maze. Walking out of the maze I’m one step closer to getting back home.

“Erika, I’m coming don’t worry.” I start walking when I hear a car coming up I move to the side.

“Devin?” I hear my name but I don’t recognize the voice.

“Yes, who are you?” I asked curiously.

“Sorry I’m Kenzi I’m friends with Erika I don’t mind giving you a ride where ever you need to go.”

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“Yes what kind of friend would I be if I let you bleed to death when I can take you to Erika so she can help you.” I nod my head than got into her car.

“If you don’t mind me asking what are you doing in Devil’s territory?” I asked her.

“I was visiting a friend who is sick, and the other way home was shut down due to  an accident so I had no other choice  but to come down this way.” She tells me and I believe her.

“Drop me off at the Scorpions Bar please.” She nods her head. She stops at the bar and I feel relief the compound is not that far from the bar.

“Thank you Kenzi, I really appreciate you dropping me off here.”

“You’re welcome.”

“If you don’t mind me asking why you were driving through the Devil’s territory you looked nervous, why?”

“Besides it not being safe there’s one of them I don’t get along with, whenever he’s around there’s always trouble and he gets me involved in it.”

“Who  would that be?”

“Trent the president of them all.” I nod my head.

“If it makes you feel better and safe he’s dead.” The relief that’s on her face says a lot.

“Thank you it does help actually.” I nod my head.

Once she drives off, I start walking to the compound. Getting to the door I opened it took a step in then fell to the ground.

“Devin.” I hear my angel call my name. Erika and Felix help me up than took me to my room.

“Hey beautiful I told you I’ll come back home to you.” A small smiles appears on her face. She slowly takes off my shirt and looks at my wounds carefully.

“Baby Girl I don’t think this is the right time to strip me down.” Erika rolls her eyes.

“Lay down.” She demanded, I lay down and Erika starts to clean my wounds and man does this shit hurt like a bitch. Erika starts stitching me up, fuck that hurts.

“Your friend Kenzi is a lifesaver.” I tell her.

“You met Kenzi?”

“Yeah she found me and drove me to the bar if she didn’t find me I wouldn’t be here at this moment. Did you know she has problems with the Devil’s, well mainly Trent?” I asked.

“Yes I know she does.”

“Why didn’t you t tell me?” I ask.

“Because we don’t like talking about it.” I feel like she is hiding something major from me and I want to know why.

“Why are you keeping this from me?” I asked irritated.

“Because it’s a rough topic for her.” Dalson says.

“You know about it.”

“Of course I’m a Devil I will know. I can tell him if you want Erika.” I say, yes tell me.

“NO! That does not need to be talked about ever.” She yells. I don’t know what the problem is.

“Why not?”

“Because it’s not just my story it’s Kenzi story and we don’t talk about it,  so no I’m not going to talk about it, end of story.” This is when you stop pushing her Devin stop being stupid.

“Okay I’m sorry I pushed.” She nods her head as she finished my last wound. She took off the bandana off my arm grabbed a tweezers and took out the bullet out of my arm. Erika grabs a bottle of  what I think is antibiotics and gives me two pills.

“Don’t get off this bed I mean it don’t move.” I nod my head.

“Erika I have to get back to my compound and handle things over there I’m going to leave Paul here for now to help you with Marco, I’ll see you soon.” She wrapped her arms around Dalson  and he hugged her back. After taking the pills I start drifting off to sleep.

Waking up I saw Erika sleeping with her head on my arm. Putting my hand on her head, I start playing with her hair. She stirs  awake and looks into my eyes.

“How are you feeling?” She asks me.

“I’m alive and you're here with me, I’m doing just great.” Erika leans down and kisses me.

“Thank god for that. I’m so happy you boys all came back to me.” I smile up at her, She been nervous since the day she found out about the assholes going to the maze, now she looks more relieved than anything and I’m glad she is.

“We wouldn’t leave you like that baby girl we all love you.” She smiles down at me and I grab her face and land a kiss on her sweet lips.

“I love you so much Collins, I would do anything to keep you happy.”

“I love you too Donovan that will never change.” She leans down and kisses me. I don’t know why I kept on pushing her away from me all these years. This girl is my life I don’t know what I would do without her.

Two Weeks Later

The boys and I are finally allowed to move around not a lot but it’s better than staying in bed all damn day so we take what we can get. My girl is very stubborn it’s her way or you get your ass kicked and we are not stupid so her way it is. We are sitting on the couch when Erika comes back from work.

“Hey guys how are you feeling?” She asked.

“We are fine.” We said in unison. She smiles brightly.

“Okay I get it at least let me change your bandages.”

“Already done. I changed Storm’s and he changed mine.” I said.

“Okay what about you Marco?”

“Paul changed mine before he left and yes he made me take the antibiotics too.” She nods her head with a smile. She’s finally getting sleep now, since we are all healing perfectly. We can’t do nothing major yet and it’s very irritating.  Slowly getting up I look at Erika she trying so hard not to help us, and I know It’s killing her.

“Are you going to help me our room or just stare at me?” I said with a smile.

“Oh thank god I felt like I was going to lose my head.” The guys and I laugh.

“I know that’s why I said that.” She wraps her arm around me and helped me to our room. After laying me down she left the room to most likely to help Storm and Marco. When she comes back to the room she lays down next to me and slowly put her head on my chest. The first week was horrible she wouldn’t lay down with me. Putting my arm around her I start to doze off into a peaceful sleep once again.
