Devin (The Scorpion Series Book 1) by Delia Petrano (2)

Erika

Thirteen Years Later

Getting out of work I walk straight to Scorpions Bar it's been a rough day and I could use a good drink. As I walk in all eyes are on me I swear the man in this bar act like they never been with a woman before. Yes there  are good looking guys in here, but I'm not interested in the customers just one dark man who I been in love with my whole life who is also a dick and a part of the Scorpions MC. I walk to my spot at the bar and sit down.

“Hey Erika the usual or something strong?” Marco asks. He's my favorite and only bartender.

“The usual please.” Marco passes me a glass of Bourbon and a beer.

“So this week was an okay week I'm guessing.”

“Yeah it wasn't that bad. My boss was pretty chill this week thank god I swear if I have to deal with his stupidity any longer I'm just going to quit.”

“He probably got laid or something and Erika you say that all the time and you always stay.” I giggled.

“That would explain him not being a dick and yes I know I always say that it's because that's the only job that's hiring at the time and till this day nobody is hiring.” Marco nod his head in agreement. The door opens and I don't need to turn around to know who just wanted in. I swear every time he walks in a room I just get this feeling that it's him and I'm never wrong. Marco smiles at me and I give him the finger. I take a sip of my beer when Devin sits next to me. Marco gets Devin a beer and hands it to him. They give each other a nod than Marco walks away evil bastard.

“Hey Collins.”

“Hi Donovan.” For as long as I could remember we called each other my our last names not all the time but mostly when we say hi or see you later.

“You should go home.” He tells me and it makes me want to punch him.

“How about you go home and I stay?”

“No you need to go home where it's safe, you don't belong here.” I laugh what he doesn't realize that this is the safest place I can be.

“Go fuck yourself Devin I can be here as long and how ever often I want.”

“Why is it always a fight with you?” He growls and all I want to do is jump on top of him and kiss him senseless.

“Because you always tell me what to do and you know I hate it I'm not a little girl anymore I can handle myself even if you don't think I can.” God I don't know why he always gets like this every other damn week and always tells me to go home.

“I'll have Storm take you home.” I rolled my eyes.

“First off I can take myself home and secondly why don't you do it?”

“I have a meeting.”

“Doesn't Storm have to be there too?” He slams his hand on the bar.

“Damn it Erika for once can you just listen to me?” I have never seen him this mad before and I want to know why he is so upset for.

“Fine but why Storm, you know we don't get along?” He runs his hands through his hair.

“Because I trust him and I know he will make sure you get home safe.” I nod my head.

“Okay go get him.”

“Thank you I'll see you later Collins.”

“I'll see you later Donovan.” I signal for another beer and Marco hands me another.

“Go easy on him he just wants to protect you Erika and he's right you should go home.” For Marco to tell me that means something is going down tonight.

“Something’s going down isn't?” That's the only explanation why he's acting like this. Macro nods his head that's when Storm walks up to me.

“Lets go.” I rolled my eyes I finished my beer and walked out the door with Storm. I get into Storms car and we drive in silence. When we got to my place I get out of the car.

“Erika don't come to the bar for a couple of days and don't argue with me.”

“Okay.”

“Wait what?” He says in shock.

“You are uptight and Devin’s being a dick I'm guessing things are going down so I'll stay away for a few days.” He nods his head.

“Thank you for not arguing with me tonight and Devin he cares about you a lot it's why he always a dick and telling you what to do it's because he cares.”

“You're welcome I didn't want to argue with you or anyone else anyways. Storm?”

“Yeah?”

“Be careful and watch his six.” For the first time I saw a small smile appeared on his face and I like it.

“I will and you do the same.” I nod my head than close the door. We might not always get along but I don't want to see him get hurt no matter how much he pisses me off.  Storm and I may not not always get along but I do think of him as a pain in the ass big brother. I don't want to see him  get hurt  I don't want any of them getting hurt. I'm so tired  when I got inside I fell asleep right when my head hit the pillow.

It's been a few days and I haven't seen or heard a thing from any body and I'm worried now. I hear my phone buzz I grab my phone off the table to see a message from Marco.

Marco- We are all safe no need to worry sunshine.

Thank god now I can breathe.

Erika- Thank you for letting me know you’re the best. I'll be by in a few days if I don't come by tomorrow.

Marco- Okay see you soon stay safe.

Walking into work I noticed my boss is not in a good mood that's just fantastic.

“Erika I need you to reschedule all my meetings to a different date right away.”

“On it.” I walk into my office and sit down today is going to be a long day. Reschedule all his meetings are you serious right now I groaned. I have an hour left of work and I’ve just finished rescheduling his damn meetings. I'm so done with this day I want to go home a sleep all of this away. My boss walks into my office why did he have to walk in right now.

“Erika it's going to be a late night for me go get me some dinner, a sandwich would be great.”

“Sure thing.” As I walk out of the building I bump into Storm and that's very weird I know my job and the bar is  close together but this never happens like ever.

“Storm what's going on?” I ask concerned.

“Nothing is wrong.” That's is such a lie he's up to something he is watching me.

“You know you can't lie to me right, are you watching me?” He paled.

“No why would you think that?”

“Because I never bump into anyone from the MC around here especially when I'm working why are you watching me for?”

“I'm not.” He’s getting on my nerves I start walking and he's walking behind me.

“If he’s so damn worried tell him to check up on me his damn self. Go away Storm.”

“I told him this wasn't going to work that you will realize what I'm doing.”

“Yeah just because we don't get along doesn't mean I don't know you and when there's something wrong so are you going to tell me what happened when I get out of work.”

“I don't want to argue with you Erika I'm too tired to.” I took a deep breath before I say something stupid.

“I have the right to know what's going on Storm so you have two options you can tell me what's going on when I get out of work or you leave me the hell alone and go back to the Bar or the compound your choice and you can tell that to Devin as well.” When I got to the store I order Paul’s sandwich and myself one as well. I looked over and saw Storm on the phone most likely with Devin. I paid for the sandwiches than start walking back to work.

“So how did that go?”

“He's pissed, he said I should of watched from a distance.”

“Technically you was I didn't notice you until today and knowing Devin you been watching me all week.” He nods his head.

“I'll talk to you when I get out of work in a few minutes.” I walk in Paul office and gave him his dinner.

“Is there anything else before I go home?” I ask.

“No that's all you can go.” I nod my head when I walked out of the building Storm was leaning against the building when I got out.

“Devin wants you to go to the bar.”

“Too bad I'm not going today.”

“But…”

“No buts I'm tired you are going to take me home and tell me what's going on than I'm going to sleep.” Storm growls as I got into his car. The ride home was quiet. Taking the house keys out of my bag I unlock the door. We walk inside I sat on the couch and I gave half my sandwich to Storm.

“Thank you.”

“You're welcome so now what's going on why does he have you watching me?” I ask.

“So remember I told you to stay away from the bar for a few days?”

“Yes.”

“Well during all of that a spoiled little brat has been following you he been taking pictures of you since he’s not getting what he wants he is trying to get under our skin especially Devin’s to get what he wants.” I rolled my eyes.

“I hate spoiled fucking kids. I hope this guy knows what he's doing because messing with Devin will be the biggest mistake of his life by the way what does this guy look like I should know who I should keep an eye out for.” He takes out his phone and shows me a picture. Okay now I know what he looks like he better keep his distance he will regret it if he doesn't.

“I'm tired I'm going to bed you can go goodnight.”

“Goodnight Erika and again thanks for not arguing with me.”

“It may not look like it but I don't like arguing with you all the damn time you just know how to push my buttons.” He laughs.

“I think we all know how to do that.” I laugh with him. This is different that's the first time I saw him really laugh and I like it I hope I get to see it more.

“Lock the door.” He closes the door and I lock it behind him. I walk into my bedroom and laydown I'm so tired I don't think I can keep my eyes open any longer.
