Chapter Nineteen

Megan

I opened my eyes and was temporarily confused. I was in my room but something was holding me to the bed. Slowly, the memories of the night before flooded my brain and I smiled at the realization that Simon was still wrapped around me. I turned in his arms until I was facing him and he smiled, obviously wide awake

“Hey,” he said softly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.

I smiled back at him. “Good morning. How do you feel?”

“A lot better, actually. I woke up next to this beautiful girl and my throat doesn’t hurt when I swallow. Winning the lottery couldn’t top this.” Simon leaned forward and kissed the top of my head.

My cheeks warmed at his compliment and I hid my face in his chest, inhaling him in the process. He chuckled softly and brought his fingers to my cheek, skimming it softly.

“I love how easily you blush but I wish you wouldn’t hide from me.”

I pulled my head back slowly and he grinned before covering my lips with his own. I broke us apart and shook my head.

“Let me brush my teeth first.”

Simon rolled his eyes. “Just kiss me, Megan.” He pushed his mouth back against mine and our tongues met that time, lighting my whole body on fire. He rolled onto his back, taking me with him, and I straddled his waist as I ran my hands up his chest. I pulled back, breaking our kiss, and brought my palm to his forehead.

“You’re crazy,” Simon said with a chuckle, grabbing my hand in his and kissing the inside of my wrist. “I feel great. I’d feel better if you’d just kiss me.”

I leaned down and did just that. Simon’s hands drifted up under my shirt and he ran his fingers down my bare back. After a moment, he tugged it over my head so that I was on his lap wearing only my sweatpants.

“God. The view from down here is fucking amazing.” His voice was just a whisper and he moved so he could brush his lips against my bare breast. I ran my fingers through his hair as I enjoyed the feeling of his warm breath on my skin. When he let his head drop back to the pillow, I stood for a moment so I could rid myself of my sweatpants and underwear. I tugged on his boxers until he lifted his hips so I could pull them down.

His ready erection sprang free and I licked my lips as I climbed back on top of him so I was straddling his thighs. I took a moment to admire his naked form from my position since I hadn’t had the opportunity before.

Simon was hot, there had never been any doubt about that, but seeing him without any clothes on made me realize just how hot he really was. His muscled chest was solid and a light dusting of hair was sprinkled throughout, leading to a darker trail that dipped below his waist. His handsome face stared down at me as I brought my fingers to his length and I let my fingertips run along it from base to tip.

“Fuck. Fuuuuck.” Simon’s words were more moaned than spoken. “Megs, if you keep doing that, this is going to be over really quickly.” He reached his hands out to still mine and shook his head. “If I’m going to come embarrassingly early, I want to at least be inside you when I do.”

His words were so honest and brass that I shivered a bit as he spoke. “This bedroom hasn’t seen action in a really long time so I don’t have any condoms in here. I can probably go get one from Kelly or…”

“Has anything changed since the last time we had sex, babe?” His bright blue eyes stared up at me and I shook my head.

“Not a thing. The last time anyone saw me naked was in your room at the fire station.”

“I was hoping you’d say that.” He pushed up on his elbows and gave me a long, passionate kiss before falling back to the pillow. “We don’t need a condom. Just you and me, Megan.”

“Just you and me.” I shifted my body until I was back at his hips and I adjusted so I could sink down on top of him, causing a low moan to escape my lips. I didn’t move for a moment as I let my body adjust to the amazing intrusion.

Simon smiled as he stared up at me from the pillow. His fingertips trailed along my bare stomach until he was cupping my breasts gently. His thumbs brushed my nipples over and over, causing the pleasure to shoot to my core. “Everything about this is perfect.”

I nodded my head as I moved my hips for the first time. “Perfect.”

Simon met my thrusts with ones of his own and I felt the pleasure in my body begin to build as our breathing mingled with our moans. The anticipation caused me to move my hips faster and Simon grit his teeth with a growl. I moved even faster before shattering into a million tiny pieces of sensation and I knew I was moaning Simon’s name loudly but I didn’t care. I briefly registered Simon chanting my name quietly as my orgasm ebbed and those pieces came back together.

Simon’s fingers slackened from where they’d been gripping my hips and I collapsed on top of him with a sigh. His palms came to rest on my back and his lips ran against my forehead slowly.

“That was amazing.”

I nodded and pulled myself off of him until I was on my side next to his body, my head using his shoulder as a pillow.

“Perfect.”

Simon let out a long breath and wrapped his arm around me tight. “I’ve imagined being with you so many times, Megs.”

“Yeah?” I tilted my head so I could look up at him. “Did the reality live up to the fantasy?”

“No,” he said with a shake of his head and a smile on his face. “It surpassed it.”

I grinned and burrowed my face into his shoulder. “I know what you mean.

We didn’t attempt to move or speak and I never wanted to leave our spot.

“What time do you need to be to work?” I finally asked him as I traced invisible shapes on his chest lazily.

“Two. Way too soon.” Simon’s chest rumbled under my cheek as he spoke.

I moved, propping my chin on his chest as I met his eyes. “Do you need to go home first?”

“Yeah,” he sighed as he brought his fingers up to brush my cheek. “I need to check on Alex and the kids. Plus, I didn’t bring my medicine with me.”

I offered him a smile and nodded my head once. “I figured. Come on. I’ll make you breakfast.”

I stood and picked up my glasses from the nightstand so I could shove them on my face. I began to search for our clothes and found my sweatpants to pull them back on. When I turned to look for my shirt, Simon was still laying on the bed with his eyes glued to me.

“Did you just put those on without underwear?” His voice was low and serious, and I smiled when I saw that he’d become aroused again in just a matter of minutes.

“Mhmm.” I gave him a teasing smile as I placed my hands on my hips. “Is that a problem?”

Simon sat up so quickly that I jumped a little. His arm snaked around my waist and he pulled me back to the bed. He hovered over me, sliding down my body as he brought my sweatpants back down.

“It’s no problem…” he said quietly as he pushed my legs open and kissed the inside of my thigh. “No problem at all.”

“Si,” I breathed, shaking my head rapidly. “I haven’t cleaned up since we… since you…” My attempts at warning him were ignored as Simon’s eyes met mine.

I fisted the sheets as his mouth moved between my legs and I decided that Simon had many talents.

I stood in the kitchen with Simon forty-five minutes later, arguing over whether or not sausage was better than bacon. I loved that his eyes sparkled with mischief the deeper into the argument we got, and I felt him take another good chunk of my heart. The act of making breakfast with him felt so domestic and so perfect that it almost scared me. He moved around the kitchen with ease and even kept pulling Kelly, who was barely awake and crabby, into the conversation.

“Bacon might taste better but it will kill you faster,” Kelly said as she looked at me pointedly.

“Thank you!” Simon gave me a triumphant look and I shook my head.

“The question is what is better, not better for you.” I pushed a small piece of bacon into my mouth to make my point and I chewed it with a smile on my face. “Besides, you’re a vegetarian. Your opinion is therefore void.”

Kelly shook her head as she glanced to Simon. “She’s a pain in my ass.”

I broke off another piece of bacon and threw it at her, something Simba happily cleaned up. I stood from the table and made to grab Simon’s plate but he shook his head and pulled mine from me instead.

“I’m so over watching you do everyone’s dishes,” he said quietly as he reached for Kelly’s empty cereal bowl, too. “Let me do it.”

He went into the kitchen with the plates and I turned my head to look at my little sister. She had her brows raised and small smile danced on her lips.

“He’s a total sweetheart.” She leaned in so I could hear her quiet tone. “I’m happy for you, Gan. Hold onto him.”

Kelly stood from the table after thanking Simon and me for the breakfast conversation and she disappeared into her room.

After he was done in the kitchen, Simon shoved his hands in his pockets and released a long breath. He stared at me for a long moment before smiling.

“Walk me to my truck?” he asked, pulling a hand from his pocket so he could hold it out to me.

I moved towards him as if he was magnetic, letting my hand slip into his automatically. I shoved my feet into my flip flops and hooked the dog up to his leash before letting Simon lead me out the door. His pace was unhurried and I was more than happy to prolong his departure for as long as possible. When we got to the side of his truck, he leaned up against it before pulling me into his arms and resting his cheek against my head.

“I don’t want to leave you,” he admitted quietly.

I grinned against his shirt and tipped my head up so I could look at him. “I like hearing you say that.” I let my head fall back against him and sighed. “I don’t think we should tell Alex for a little while.” When he didn’t answer me, I rushed on. “Just because I don’t want to cause tension between you two or rub it in his face.”

I chanced a peek at him and he looked lost in thought. Finally, he met my eyes and a small smile appeared at his lips. “I don’t think we should either, but it kills me because I want to shout about it from the rooftops. We’ll give it some time, though. I don’t even care as long as I can be with you.”

I inhaled sharply at his words and couldn’t help the smile that spread across my face. Simon dipped so his lips could meet mine and we kissed for a moment before I shook my head against his mouth. “You have to go home and take your medicine.”

He sighed and embraced me again, tighter than the first time, before releasing me and kissing my nose. His fingers straightened my glasses before running down my cheek. “I’ll text you later, okay?”

“Okay,” I replied as I stepped back onto the sidewalk. The sun was already warm and Simba had taken solace under a nearby tree. I watched Simon get into his truck before offering a small wave as he drove away. I walked the dog back to the apartment slowly so he could do what he needed to do.

Kelly was doing yoga in front of the TV and she grinned at me when I walked in.

“Come do some stretches with me, Gan. Your body could probably use the letdown.”

Instead of sitting next to her, I fell into the couch with an eye roll. How I ended up with this health nut for a sister, I’d never know.

“My body is already very relaxed, thank you very much.”
