The Trooper laughs, and says, “Some things are worth it. Now get out of here, I have to get back to work.”

He pats the truck twice and walks away.

“That was lucky,” Gabe says.

“How do you know him?”

“He’s a client. I’ve already given him one armful of tattoos, now I’m working on the second.”

“I was so scared. I’ve never been pulled over before. We’re lucky you knew him.”

“You’re coming for dinner at my parents’, right?”

“I told you, I’ll think about it. This is a great song,” Gabe says and cranks up the volume. I don’t know what it is, maybe Metallica, I’m not sure.

I don’t understand why he doesn’t want to come for dinner. My parents are super nice, they’d make him feel welcome.
