Taming Hawke: Book #3 in the Blood Brothers MC Series by J.A. Collard (34)

Luisa

“Hawke, where are we?”

“It’s a surprise,” he says, for the fifth time since we left the hospital. It’s been two weeks since I woke up from my coma. Hawke organised to pick me up first thing this morning, and when we got out to the MC’s truck, he blindfolded me before gently helping me get settled. When I asked him what it was all about, he said it was a surprise, I was going to have to be patient. Then I heard him run around to his side of the truck, and the engine started up.

As we made our way onto the road, I tried to picture where we were going, but I was totally lost. I asked him several times to tell me where he was taking me, but he refused. When the truck finally stopped, he hopped out, and soon my door was opened for me.

Helping me out of the car, I smell the freshness of grass and trees, and crunching sounds on the ground beneath our feet as he leads me forward. Grabbing my waist and keeping me to his side, he checks to make sure the blindfold is on snugly. “You sure you can’t see?”

“I’m sure, Hawke. Geez, what the hell is going on?”

“Watch your step, baby, there’s two coming up. One, two,” he counts, and I follow his lead, lifting my leg and feeling for them. Then I hear a key opening something. There’s a creak which I’m assuming is a door, and I’m shuffled inside… something. The smell of fresh paint and wood hits my senses, and I feel a little nauseous. So much for not having any morning sickness. I had an ultrasound yesterday, and the scan showed that I was indeed pregnant, six weeks along. I still can’t believe I’m having a baby. I have polycystic ovary syndrome, and I was told from a young age that having children would be a little complicated, so I was put on only a low dose of the pill. Looks like that small chance of getting pregnant was the chance I needed. Hawke thinks it’s because he has super sperm. He’s such a male.

“Where are we, Hawke?”

I can hear giggles and whispers, then suddenly my blindfold is ripped off. “Surprise!”

Cheers break out around the room. I adjust my eyes to the light, and laugh tearfully when I see everyone gathered in front of me. A huge sign hangs in the background saying Welcome Home, and Jasmine is the first to come rushing forward, baby Jack in her arms. Jack only came home yesterday from the hospital. The doctors said he’s a little fighter to have come through so smoothly with no complications. Quill thinks it’s because he’s strong like his old man. I’m so happy that he’s okay. I give her a hug as much as I can, but I only have eyes for baby Jack. “He’s adorable,” I say as a tear falls from my eye. And so very tiny and perfect.

“Here, hold him.” I smile and happily take Jack out of her hands. I bring him up to me for a gentle kiss, loving the baby smell he has. “I can’t believe he’s here, Jazz,” I say, watching as Quill appears beside her and kisses her head.

He then leans in and kisses me on my cheek, saying, “Glad you’re home.”

There’s that word again. Home. I’m glad to be home, but where am I? I’ve seen the word on a banner, and now Quill is welcoming me home.

“He’s got green eyes, just like his mommy,” I say. But then I’m distracted when Hawke takes Jack off me, gives him a kiss, then hands him back to Jasmine, who has a cheeky smile on her face.

“Hi, honey.”

“Mom, I’m so glad you’re here,” I say hugging her close to me.

I look up and see my dad standing beside her, and he winks at me before he moves my mom aside so he can take over hugging me. “Hey, baby girl, I’m so glad you’re home.”

“Home?” I ask, tilting my head back to look up at him. “I’m not home, where am I?” I’m confused as hell. I turn toward Hawke, and all the club members standing around and smiling at us. “What’s going on, Hawke?” I take another glimpse at the beautiful home we’re standing in. Dark wooden floorboards are under our feet, a large staircase leading to an upstairs area nearby. To the right is a kitchen, decked out with all the latest stainless-steel appliances. It’s cozy, but at the same time has an open feel to it. A sliding door leads out to an open field, and there’s an outdoor setting under a patio.

My parents, Jasmine, and Quill step aside, and I see Tess, Blaze, and Hailey standing there. “What’s going on?” I ask again looking up at Hawke. He nods his head forward, and the guests move aside, making a path leading to… oh my God! A priest?

The song “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perri begins to play softly from somewhere in the room, and Hawke falls down on one knee, taking my right hand in his. He’s clean-shaven, his recently washed hair tied back, and his blue eyes are shiny with unshed tears. He clears his throat, and says, “I love you, Luisa.”

My heart drops when I realize what he’s doing. “Hawke, wait, you don’t have to do this.”

He shakes his head. “Baby, I should have done this sooner.” My heart fills with so much love, I can’t help but let the tears fall.

“Luisa, you have given me hope again, made me want a future as well. A future with you and our baby.” I bite on my bottom lip, trying to stop the emotions that are threatening to burst through.

“It has always been you, Lu, from the first day I met you. Your smile, your laugh, and your passion for life had me craving you, needing to be next to you. You were my future, my path to happiness again, something I thought never existed. But you proved me wrong, showed me how to love and trust again, made me want more. And I do want more, Lu. I want you, in my future, and in my forever. Will you do me the honor of being my wife?”

I look down at the man I love, who has given me the life inside of me. The man who has also shown me that it’s possible to trust again, and dream of having a future with someone. And now he’s giving me that, asking me to be his forever, something I’ve wanted with only him. I bring my hands to my face, crying into them. I’m so emotional and can’t control the shaky feeling I have. I’m in shock.

“But there’s just one condition,” Hawke states, his eyes creasing with pure happiness.

I pull my hands away and wipe at my tears. “What’s that?” I reply sniffling.

“That we get married right now, here in front of our family and friends, and in our home.”

My eyes widen. “Now? In our home?” I look around again and see the banner, and with Quill saying he’s happy I’m home, it all begins to make sense. “You mean, you bought this house?” Yes, definitely in shock. My parents stand to the side of us, my father holding my mother close to him as she cries. Jasmine and Quill stand side by side, Quill’s arm around Jasmine’s waist as she holds onto Jack. And then I search the room for the members of the club, who have welcomed me in with open arms from day one, and that I trust with my life. Then I look back at my man. Hawke. The blond-haired blue-eyed man with sun-kissed skin, who makes me lose my breath just from looking at him. I would be crazy not to marry him. “Y-you bought this house?” I stutter out.

Hawke smiles up at me. “I did. I bought it for us, for our future, and our baby. It’s yours, Lu, and I am too, if you’ll have me.” His eyes lock on to me, I feel like his soul is connected to mine. This is Hawke, on his knee, asking me to be his wife and future.

I smile widely. “Yes, Hawke,” I say, giggling and crying at the same time. “I’ll marry you.”

Cheers surround the room, and suddenly my feet leave the floor as I’m twirled around in the air. I look down at Hawke, laughing, feeling the happiest I’ve ever been.

He stops spinning us, but keeps me in his arms. “So does that mean you’ll marry me now? I don’t want to wait any longer, don’t want to waste another minute. I want you to be my wife, today.”

Giggling, I lean in and kiss him softly, then look up into his eyes. “Yes, Hawke, I’ll marry you now.”
