Definite Possibility by Maggie Cummings (17)

Chapter Seventeen

Meg could tell herself all she wanted that she was rebuilding a friendship with Sasha, but she didn’t have to dig deep to know she was kidding herself. On Thursday afternoon when she was supposed to be updating the Dillinger proposal, she found herself completely caught up in a fantasy about tomorrow night’s movie event. What would she wear? Was it a date? It had to be. After last Saturday there was no denying they still had a connection. Should she invite Sasha back to her house after the movie? Of course she wanted to, but maybe it was too soon. Then again, Sasha would want to meet Spencer. She rubbed her hands hard against her face. She didn’t have time to stress about this. Not now, when she needed to be focused on her client and thus secure the promotion she more than earned on a daily basis.

What was happening between them anyway? The chemistry had been building steadily, but should it be? This was the problem with Sasha—when she was with her, it felt right, but once she stepped away, Meg was able to think clearly about the past and remember their relationship as it actually had been. Then again, Sasha seemed different now. More chill than when they had dated. She was even completely fine with openly dating women, it seemed. Even if that was the case, it didn’t change their past. Sasha had strung her along for months and ultimately cheated on her. But she seemed so different. The same, but different, if that made sense. She tipped her head back, letting her hands fall forward with a thud onto the pile of work waiting for her on the pressed-wood credenza. Now was not the time. For the moment, her head belonged to Dillinger Pharmco. After she landed the senior associate spot, she would allow herself to consider the possibility of something more than friendship with Sasha Michaels. Maybe.

In spite of her self-imposed mini-lecture, she needed to use all her willpower to buckle down for the next twenty-four hours. She allowed herself a few brief exchanges with Sasha, learning that Beau and Jane-Anne would be joining them for the TOTU event. That was interesting. Kind of double date-y, if she did say so herself.

Lucy brought out extra seating for nights like this but real estate was still key. Meg arrived early and secured a nice table in the back that was perfect for the four of them. She put her phone down on top of it claiming the spot as she paced the back wall. She offered Lucy a hand, but everything was taken care of, so she kept her eye on the door and tried to keep her pulse in check. She was leaning on the bar talking to Lucy and actually did a double take when she saw Reina enter the store. In addition to her cousins Teddy and Rose who lived at Bay West, Reina was also accompanied by Melinda.

Meg kept her composure. “Hey, Reina,” she said, kissing her politely on the cheek, following suit with Teddy and Rose. She gave a small wave in greeting to Melinda. “Hello, again.”

“It’s good to see you, Meg,” Reina offered.

Meg nodded toward the screen. “I didn’t know you were a fan.”

“Not really me.” Reina obviously felt bad admitting the truth that she was here for Melinda.

Wow. This was happening. Even though she shouldn’t have been surprised, she was. She found her manners anyway and smiled supportively. She exchanged a look with Reina and thought she saw something of an apology in her eyes. It wasn’t necessary and Meg wanted her to know it. “You guys should grab a spot. It’ll fill up quick in here. I put my stuff on the table in the corner, but I’m pretty sure the one next to it is free.”

Reina smiled and Meg saw gratitude in her eyes before she walked over to claim the space. Meg tried not to stare. She and Melinda doted on each other sweetly and she was happy for Reina. Inwardly she acknowledged her stomach muscles tightening. It wasn’t jealously. It was something else—a sudden longing, a need—she couldn’t wait for Sasha to arrive, so she could kiss her soft cheek, feel her body in her arms when she hugged her in greeting. Lost in her fantasy, she missed Sasha’s entrance altogether and was jolted back into the present when she felt a hand on her back.

“Hey, stranger.” Sasha’s voice was soft in her ear but when she turned around to greet her she was met with not one, not two, but three smiling faces. “This is Evan,” Sasha said, introducing a guy she had never seen before. “He’s Beau’s friend.”

“Oh. Nice to meet you.” Meg hoped the irritation she felt at the unknown addition to her group didn’t show. She stuck out her hand to make nice and guided them to the table she had reserved. Deep breath, she told herself. This was going to be fine. But she had to scurry to find an extra chair to drag over, and when she did, she had to jam it in between Sasha and Jane-Anne, inevitably pushing Sasha closer to Evan and his man bun. She expected Sasha to say something, whisper an explanation as to why she hadn’t informed her that she was bringing someone else. She wanted to hear that his presence was a surprise to her too. Instead, Sasha was deeply engaged in a spirited four-way conversation about the existential message embedded in Thongs of The Undead. Meg rolled her eyes and scanned the room. As if things could get any worse, less than two feet away she caught Melinda slide her hand along Reina’s thigh. How the fuck was this happening?

Thirty minutes into the ridiculous film, her blood was still boiling when she got a message from her sister. Bingo. She didn’t have to endure one more minute. No one would ever need to know that Shannon was simply texting to say hi. Meg excused herself quietly and slipped behind the counter, past Lucy, and through the door into the kitchen.

Heading straight for the back door she ignored the sting in her throat and was so focused on bolting that she nearly bumped into Sam who was just arriving.

“Hey, Meg.” Sam grabbed her by both arms to steady them both. “You leaving?”

“My sister needs me,” she lied.

“Isn’t Sasha here?”

“It’s okay,” she said, hoping her voice didn’t crack. “She brought her friends. I’ll shoot her a message. I’m sure she’ll understand.”

“Whoa, Meg.” Sam folded her arms and looked her right in the eye. “You okay?”

“Yeah, yeah.” She coughed to cover the hitch in her voice. “I really gotta go.” She backed away. “Have fun.”

Something was up. Sam could tell right off that Meg was upset but she was so determined to leave that she wasn’t going to stop her. Sam crossed to the sink in the kitchen and helped herself to a glass of water before spotting Lucy leaning on the counter as she watched the zombies philosophize.

“Hey, baby,” Lucy whispered as Sam came up behind her. She put her hands on top of Sam’s as they circled her waist. “How was your trip?”

“Fine. I missed you.” Sam kissed her ear. She checked out the sizeable crowd, seeing the situation at Sasha’s table and shaking her head as she put the pieces together on the spot. She held Lucy tighter and kissed the top of her shoulder.

“I’m surprised you stopped home first,” Lucy said. “I know how you feel about TOTU.”

Sam smiled against her neck. “There was something I needed there.”

Lucy arched to look at her, her eyes narrowing in unspoken question.

Sam didn’t leave her in the dark. She held her tighter, nuzzling her face into her neck and slowly moving her pelvis against Lucy’s body. It took a second—but only a second—before Lucy registered the bulge in Sam’s pants against her backside. Sam was exactly sure when it happened. She saw Lucy’s mouth drop open and felt her simultaneous sharp intake of breath.

They had used the strap-on several times in the weeks since their initial conversation and one thing was certain—Lucy was a fan. But this was new. Sam usually assembled herself just prior to the act. She liked to think of what she was doing right now as functional packing, being ready to go right away, and she believed it would take the experience up a notch.

She rocked against Lucy slowly, loving her instinctual response as she matched the rhythm. Lucy grabbed her hand and pulled her into the kitchen. “How are you doing this to me?”

“What?” Sam answered playfully.

Lucy pulled her in for a long deep kiss and Sam obliged willingly. She backed Lucy up against the aluminum counter and felt Lucy’s hand on her cock over her jeans. Lucy moaned low and deep before breaking them apart. “How much is left in this stupid movie?”

TOTU is not stupid.” Sam was aware of the ridiculous amount of seriousness in her tone before she chuckled, adding, “Like forty-five minutes.”

“Fuck. Then I have to clean up.” She leaned her head forward onto Sam’s chest. “Torture. This is going to be torture.”

“We don’t have to wait,” Sam said, lifting Lucy onto the counter swiftly as she filled the space between her legs. “Everyone is completely entertained out there. I’ll be so fast,” she whispered. Sam was mostly kidding but Lucy seemed to almost be considering it when the door opened.

“Yowza.” Raven’s eyes widened at their compromising position. “Don’t mind me. Just getting some sugar. Apparently, you guys are too,” she said winking and giggling at her own joke before grabbing a full dispenser and disappearing again.

“And that’s why we have to wait,” Lucy said with an exaggerated whimper.

“Good.” Sam kissed her cheek and let her lips trail to her ear. “I want to take my time with you anyway.”

“I hate you,” Lucy said with a needy pout.

“No, you don’t,” Sam responded, unable to keep the sass out of her voice. She kissed her sweetly and patted her ass as Lucy led the way into the main room.

When the movie finished and the crowd dispersed, Sam watched Lucy and her staff clean the store with an unprecedented amount of zip. As she pitched in, snapping up extra folding chairs and storing them in the back, she almost wondered if Lucy had bribed the two girls. Whatever the case, she was thrilled to be on the road before eleven following Lucy to her apartment in expectation of what lay ahead.

They pushed through the front door and raced up the stairs, Sam’s hands on Lucy’s hips the entire time as they headed right for the bedroom. Sam let Lucy take control for the moment, swallowing a smile as she did so. She had come to love these little instances when Lucy took charge. It was something about the way her eyes got dark and heavy at the acceptance of the temporary power shift. Sam sat down on the edge of the bed and Lucy climbed on her lap, the weight of their bodies pushing them to the mattress.

Through her jeans, Sam could feel the base of her cock press against her clit when Lucy sat upright and writhed on top of her. Sam held her in place and moved with her, loving the sense of anticipation, the buildup of almost being together. For a second, she got lost in the excitement of the moment and she let out a little sound at the feeling it gave her. Lucy’s breath was heavy and ragged as she shifted forward and met Sam’s mouth with her own. The kiss was wild and intense, and Sam held the back of Lucy’s neck as she pushed her tongue in deep, her desire for Lucy almost insatiable. Lucy moaned loudly in response before breaking them apart to kiss her way down the front of Sam’s body, unbuttoning her shirt with unrivaled speed.

At her waistline, Lucy slowed down, and Sam noticed her hovering for a second as though she was considering something. She wondered if she should take over but Lucy met her eyes and answered her with a look that was just slightly naughty before she snapped back into action, undoing her belt and pulling her jeans off as she knelt between her legs. Sam felt Lucy’s hands drift up her legs, her lips brushing the skin along the inside of her thighs. Sam propped up on her elbows to watch the action and saw Lucy caressing her cock through the tight fabric of her boxer briefs before tracing the outline with her open mouth. She teased her for a second only, lifting her boxers over the shaft and removing them completely.

Sam wasn’t a hundred percent sure how far this was going to go, but her pulse raced at the possibilities. Her answer came one second later when Lucy ran her tongue along the shaft, reached the tip, adjusted for girth, and took it in her mouth.

Lucy’s hair spilled forward and Sam reached for it gathering it up in her hand and holding it back so she could watch. Lucy moved her head slowly, allowing a little more in each time, occasionally stopping to run her tongue along the sides. Sam was so turned on she couldn’t keep from moving her hips, and when she heard a moan from Lucy, she pulled back a little, worrying that she had gone too far. Thankfully, Lucy’s expression told her it was okay.

This was completely new territory for Sam and the effect it was having was unbelievable. She felt her body jerk beyond her control and was suddenly afraid she was going to come just from watching. She rubbed her thumb softly on Lucy’s cheek.

“Come here,” she said in a low voice. Sam guided Lucy toward her smoothly, but with a firm hand, bringing her close and kissing her possessively. She lifted off Lucy’s shirt and removed her pants quickly as she moved her mouth along Lucy’s lithe body. “Turn around,” she whispered, helping Lucy into position in front of her. Reaching over from behind, Sam slid a hand along Lucy’s breasts and stomach, pulling her upright to kiss her. She moved Lucy’s hair off her neck and trailed her lips down Lucy’s back as she bent her over again. She slid two fingers inside, but Lucy was so wet Sam took them out right away, reaching for her cock and guiding it in gently.

“Oh my God, I love that,” Lucy said at the contact.

Sam tried to go slow but she was ready to explode. She kept her hands on Lucy’s waist struggling to hold back.

“More,” Lucy said between gasps.

“I don’t want to hurt you,” Sam managed.

“You never hurt me,” Lucy said. “Please, baby.”

Sam almost lost it at Lucy’s pleading, but she listened, letting herself go completely as she fucked Lucy hard and fast. Lucy moaned loudly, finally dropping her shoulders and pressing her head against the mattress as she squeezed the fluffy pillows at the top of the bed. Sam was right there with her. The orgasm started at her center and surged through her entire body, synapse by synapse, until the tingle reached all the way to her fingertips. It was almost as though she was high, and she collapsed forward, her head sweaty as it fell between Lucy’s shoulder blades, exhausted and content in her release.

She had nearly drifted off into a light sleep when Lucy turned to face her. She felt her soft hand on her lips a millisecond before Lucy kissed her and asked, “You okay, babe?”

“Mm-hmm.” Sam opened her eyes and smiled. “That was…unreal.”

“Yeah?” Lucy snuggled in. “You liked it okay?” she asked with an impish grin.

Sam raised one eyebrow. “Uh. Yeah.” She moved Lucy’s hand away from where it hovered near her crotch. “No way. I’m too sensitive still.”

“Wow.” Lucy nodded, clearly impressed with herself. “That must’ve been good.”

“Babe.” Sam licked her lips. “I can barely talk.” She brought Lucy closer. “It was incredible.” Her fingers skimmed up Lucy’s back finding the ends of her hair and touching it gently. “No one has ever, ever done that for me before.”

Lucy perked up on one elbow. “Really?”

“I’m sort of embarrassed to admit how much I liked it.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know. It seems…a little ridiculous, I guess.”

Lucy just smiled. “I don’t think it’s ridiculous. I think it’s hot.” She leaned in and placed a soft kiss on Sam’s lips. “Even hotter that I’m the only one.” She made small designs on Sam’s chest with her short nails. “I like knowing there’s something that’s only mine. It makes me feel special.”

Sam kissed her forehead and waited for Lucy to look up. “Luce, you are way beyond special.” She held her close as she spoke. “You know I love you.” Rolling onto her back, she pulled Lucy with her, their bodies touching everywhere. “What you don’t know is that I’ve never felt this way before. About anyone.”

Lucy crinkled her forehead.

“Too much?” Sam winced a little, covering her eyes with one hand.

Lucy pulled her hand away. “No, babe.” She brushed Sam’s hand against her cheek before she kissed it. “I’m just surprised. What about Julie?”

Sam shook her head. “Nah. Julie was…a crush at first. Then kind of a challenge, which I know makes me sound like a dick.” She blew out a long breath. “With Julie, I guess I thought I could be in love with her. See, it’s like this,” she started, moving a pillow into position behind her head. “I just never thought I would be in love.” She tucked a strand of Lucy’s dirty-blond hair behind her ear. “The things other girls talked about feeling”—she shrugged—“I never felt it.” Her fingers traced Lucy’s face as though she was trying to memorize it by touch. “I just figured I wasn’t wired like that. But then, you…” She blinked slowly, mimicking an explosion sound with her mouth and hand at the same time. “All at once. Boom.”

She opened her eyes and Lucy was looking right at her.

“God, I love you.”

“You do, huh?”

“You know I do.” Lucy dropped a kiss on her. “You are never allowed to be with anyone else again.”

“You know I won’t.”

“Great. Now we just have to go back and delete everyone from your past,” she added with a shy smile. “So it’s only me.”

“It is only you, Lucy. Always.” Sam leaned forward and her kiss was filled with sweetness and desire and passion and an endless amount of love. All the things she had never believed were in the realm of possibility for her were suddenly here, present in her every day. She turned Lucy around so she could hold her until they fell asleep. Life was fucking fantastic.
