Chapter 10

Liz

Oh my God, did that just really happen? I just kissed Buzz and it was AMAZING. He sure knows how to kiss. I am embarrassed by the way that I was all over him. I felt his boner on my leg this morning before I got up and he is huge. I felt safe last night with him around me. It was the first time that I have felt safe in a while.

I woke up once during the night because I think he was having a nightmare. He kept saying “I’m sorry Sgt. I’m sorry I couldn’t save you.” I was able to caress his face and tell him it was okay and that he is safe and he calmed down. I want to ask him about it but I don’t want to make him feel awkward, I don’t think he remembers it. It kind of reminded me of my father, he was in the military, the Marines to be exact and when he came back from being deployed the third time he would have nightmares. Buzz actually reminds me a lot of my father, rest his soul. I don’t have any family anymore, they all passed away. I am snapped out of my thoughts by Buzz’s footsteps.

“Hey there.” I say. Shuffling throughout the kitchen gathering bowls and ingredients to make some waffles.

“Hey.” He says back to me with the biggest smile.

“I hope you like waffles.”

“I love waffles. Do you need any help?” He asks as he sits at one of the stools at the breakfast bar.

“Nah, you’re my guest, let me take care of you and thank you with some of the best damn waffles you will ever have. I haven’t made these in a while. I hope you like them.”

“I am sure, I will hun. I haven’t had anything you have made and didn’t like it. Everything is so damn delicious. I have had to increase my workouts because of all the food I eat from Sweetie Pies.”

I get kinda quiet thinking about my bakery and how it is destroyed. “Yeah, well I don’t know if I will get her back up and running. I don’t want to keep working hard to just have it destroyed again.” I notice that he is texting something on his phone.

“Hang on one second hun, one of the brothers is texting me. Do you mind if I step out for a moment?”

“No, please, go ahead and take care of what you need to.” Thank God for that. I really didn’t want to talk about Sweetie Pies, it just depresses me. I worked so hard to set up that bakery and it just keeps getting knocked down. I feel like every time something happens to it, it is chipping away at me.

“Excuse me for a moment sugar, I will be back.” He walks out the front door and I can see him talking on the phone. I notice the muscles on his back moving as he walks.

I keep moving about the kitchen making waffles. I put a little vanilla bean and bourbon vanilla extract into the batter. I also make some fluffy egg whites and bacon to go with it. I have some bourbon maple syrup that I made a week ago to go with the waffles. I hope he likes it. I don’t know why I am so nervous. I grab some plates from the cupboard and set the table. I am bringing over all the food to the table when Buzz walks in. He looks blank. There is no expression on his face.

“Is everything okay?” I ask worried.

“Liz, I don’t want you to worry but I have some stuff to tell you.”

I start shaking. I don’t know why I am so nervous. “Okay.”

“Please let’s sit down.” He leads me over to the table and we sit.

“Tell me, tell me whatever it is. I can take it.”

“Do you know who Rage Hampton is?”

“No, should I?” I am so confused.

“Here let me show you a photo.” He holds out his phone and shows me a picture. I look down and immediately feel my face blanche. It is a photo of Roger, the mechanic I went out with.

“That’s the mechanic I went out with. Why do you have a photo of him?” I am so confused.

“Liz, that’s Rage. He is what we call a Lost Soul.” What is he talking about?

“What are you talking about? What is a Lost Soul?”

“A Lost Soul is a group of outlaws that formed after we destroyed the Death Riders. Do you remember that?” I nod yes. “The Lost Souls are the brothers we kicked out, they are nasty mother fuckers. You went out with the President.”

“How can that be? He wasn’t wearing a cut, and he didn’t even have a bike when we went out. He was very straight edge. I don’t understand. Why do you even have a photo of him?”

“Rock ran the DNA from your bed spread and it came back to him. It was a 95 percent match. The FBI have been watching this guy for aggravated assault, stalking and possible sexual assault.”

“Shit.” I cover my mouth quickly. I never curse. “Sorry, but this is messed up. Why would he pick up on me then?”

“We are trying to find out if this has anything to do with our club. You have been seen around us quite often and he may think you are one of us or related. Everyone knows the quickest way to hurt someone is to get to their women first or he could just be really fucked up.”

“This isn’t making any sense. I am not with any of you guys.”

“I hope to change that.”      

“It’s not the time for that right now. Can we please eat, I feel like I am going to faint and I need to think”

“Sure, come on. I don’t want your food to go to waste. It smells fucking sinful.” I am trying to be brave but I feel like I am caught in their club business and I am not even a part of their club.

I serve Buzz some food. He immediately digs into the waffles and eggs.

“Fuck me this is delicious.” Yes, yes, I would like to fuck you.

I can’t believe I just thought of that. I have a psycho after me and I am thinking with my vagina. What is wrong with you Liz? I hope my face isn’t giving me away. Buzz is looking at me funny.

“Thank you. I am glad you like it. You think maybe we can bring some over to Rock or Winger. They helped out so much and I made way too much. I am used to cooking for the bakery.”

“Of course. We can head over to the clubhouse after we get dressed. I need to get to church and I am not leaving you alone.”

“Buzz, I am fine here. You don’t have to worry about me since you fortified this place like Fort Knox with security.” I want to be alone but I also need to figure out what to do about Roger.

“Liz, please don’t argue with me. I need to know you are safe and you are safest in the clubhouse. Plus we are going to be talking about what is going on in church today. I need you close.”

“I’m not even an old lady and you told me yourself that if I am there, I am free game. I don’t like that.”

“Well, everyone knows not to fuck with you and if they don’t they can answer to me. Okay? Now, will you please come with me to the clubhouse? I need to attend church and I won’t be able to focus if you aren’t there.”

I cross my arms in defeat. “Fine, but I need to know Breaker says that it is okay.”

“Fine. I will give him a call after we eat.” He reaches out to squeeze my hand. “Now, you go shower and I will clean up here. The cook never cleans.” He says.

“Are you sure? You’re my guest.” I hate cleaning the dishes but I won’t say that. He is my guest after all, he shouldn’t be cleaning.

“Hun, I don’t mind. I actually prefer to clean the dishes over cooking.”

“How did I get so lucky? I get my own personal dish washer.” I teasingly say as I walk away.

“I will let you have that one just because you cooked me a delicious meal.”

I finally make it to the bathroom and take off my clothes and hop into the hot water. As soon as the water turns on I break down into tears. I have a psycho who wants to hurt me after me and I don’t know why. I really should go away. I was trying to be strong in front of Buzz but now that I am alone, I am letting it out. I hate feeling so weak.
