Buzz left me alone in my house, finally. I really need to shower and feel more like myself. I finished cleaning the house and whipped up a batch of banana nut muffins after he left. “They left the front door open and they left this.” He is holding a note in his hand.

“What does it say?” I hold my hand out indicating that I want to see.

“Are you sure?”

“Yes, now let me see.” I grab the note and read. The note says “You will pay bitch. I want what’s yours.”

“What does this mean?” I ask.

“I don’t know. Are you sure you can’t think of anyone that could do this, someone you dated maybe?”

“Not really.” I say looking down at my feet.

“What does that mean Liz? Look at me please. Show me those beautiful emerald eyes.”

“I went out with one guy when I first got here. He seemed like a nice dude, we decided to just be friends. I haven’t seen him since.”

“What is his name?”

“His name was Roger. He was a mechanic in the next town over. He helped me out when I got stranded. He asked me out after we texted a while.”

“What is the name of the shop he works at?”

“What does this have to do with anything? I don’t think he is the one. We didn’t get along romantically but we ended things nicely.”

“Don’t fight me woman, I am trying to keep you safe.” He is so bossy. This man is going to drive me nuts. I let out a huge sigh.

“It was called Riders Custom Autobody.”

“Thank you. Now go get dressed, I am going to go have a chat with Rock. He came by to help me set up your alarm system. I hope you don’t mind. He is the best at what he does.”

“No, I don’t mind.”

“Anything for you Liz.” He walks over to me and kisses my forehead gently. I close my eyes and enjoy the moment. I can’t believe he kissed me so romantically.

I am dressing in my bedroom when I hear something outside my window. I have managed to put on a pair of black leggings and a white V-neck. I also put on some knee high socks. My feet get super cold in my house. I walk over to the window and see a figure.

“Buzz!” I yell at the top of my lungs. The person at the window takes off running. I can’t make out what they look like. All I can see is the silhouette of a man.

Buzz and Rock come running in with guns in their hands. “What is it?” Buzz says, he looks completely worried.

“There was someone at the window. I saw him. He was watching me. He took off running when I yelled your name. I’m sorry, I scared him off but I was freaked out. What a freako to be watching me.”

“Rock stay with her, I am going to see if I can catch him.” Buzz jumps out the window and takes off.

I move to sit on my bed. I put my head in my hands. “I shouldn’t have yelled like that. I scared him away. I’m sorry.”

Rock moves to sit on the bed next to me. He puts a hand on my back. “Liz, you didn’t do anything wrong. You did the right thing by calling us.” Rock says.

“I just want this to be over. I don’t know who this person is, I am not even safe in my own home.” I am super frustrated. I am starting to think that leaving town would be a good thing. I just worry that the freak will follow me out of town. I can’t help but think about Roger, the guy I dated when I first got to town. There is no way that he would do something like this. He was such a cool guy.

“Come on, let’s go out to the main room. This awesome baker made some muffins that smell fucking sinful and I’m wondering if I’m allowed to have one.” Rock says with a giant smile on his face. We walk over to the living room and kitchen area. I move to the kitchen.

“Well, the baker definitely approves of you having a muffin. Do you want some coffee?” I ask.

“That would be great, if you don’t mind.” He says.

“I definitely don’t mind.” I am moving about the kitchen getting the coffee pot ready when Buzz bursts into the house.

“I lost the fucker, he is quick.” Buzz says.

“Are you okay?” I ask.

“I am fine. Just frustrated I didn’t catch him.

“We will brother. Now let’s get this alarm system up and running.” Rock says.

“I will have some coffee for you guys. Do you guys want anything more than just muffins? I can whip you up some sandwiches. I have some left over sourdough I made the other night.”

“We will eat anything you give us Liz. We are growing boys.” Buzz says with a giant smile. I could get used to that smile being shone at me. He is a gorgeous man. I feel my nipples harden. I can’t believe I am having these feelings when I have a psycho after me.
