Buzz (Book 3): Corrupted Saints MC by Kimberly I. Belle (2)

Chapter 2

Liz

I can’t believe I am in the Corrupted Saints MC club house. Charlotte invited me over to a party. We were supposed to hang out together, but then she disappeared with Breaker about an hour ago. Buzz found me and told me that I should stick with him as some of the guys would think I was free game if I was all by myself. What have I gotten myself into?

I was talking to another member named Freak but he left as soon I started telling him someone broke into my shop. I could see Buzz getting angry that I didn’t tell him and I am pretty sure he knows that I wasn’t telling him the whole story either, and he would be right. Someone breaking into Sweetie Pies wasn’t the first time something that weird has happened since I moved into town. I think someone is trying to scare me.

“Liz?” Buzz brings me out of my thoughts.

“Yeah. Sorry about that, I was just thinking.” I say. He looks at me curiously.

“I asked what you wanted to eat. It looks like they are cooking up some burgers and hot dogs outside.”

“Um, I will take a burger.” I move to grab my own food.

“Allow me, you are our guest. I want to serve you.” Buzz pauses a moment and makes eye contact with me. “Pickles, lettuce and cheese, right?” He asks.

“Yeah, you remembered?” Buzz and I have eaten out together before just as friends. A guy like him would never be interested in me. He looks like a demi-god and I am the frumpy earthling.

“Of course I did. I remember everything about you.” He smirks at me and winks. His teeth are so white and perfect. He also has a tongue piercing that I barely get a glimpse of.

“Thanks.” I blush. I don’t know why he flirts with me or maybe I am just reading into things. I haven’t been with a guy in such a long time. The last time I went out on a date with a guy, he turned out to be a total psycho. I moved to this new town to get away from everything in my old life. I used to work in politics. I actually had a very high paying job working for a senator but decided it wasn’t the life for me and I moved to this beautiful little town and opened up a bakery. I was living in the apartment on top of my bakery but moved out because I wasn’t feeling safe anymore.

“Liz, hun, let’s go eat.” Buzz says holding up two plates of food.

“Sure, sorry, I keep getting lost in my own thoughts.” I walk towards the door and hold it up for him.

“You sure everything is alright?”

“Yeah.” I bite my lip.

“I wasn’t talking out of my ass before, if something is up or you need help, let me know.”

“Thanks, Buzz, I am okay for now. I really am.” We walk outside towards one of the tables they have outside. We sit down and start to eat.

“Thank you for the food. It’s delicious.”

“You’re very welcome sugar. I enjoy breaking bread with you.” He winks at me.

“I enjoy eating with you too. You are easy to talk to.” We continue to talk and eat for a while. “You know what would taste really good, I want something sweet. It’s funny. I work all day in a bakery and can still crave something sweet.”

“Well you know there is this delicious bakery in town, gorgeous owner, she is super cool, I wonder if she would open up for us.” He says.

“Oh, I didn’t know.” I can’t believe another bakery opened up in town and I didn’t know.

“Sugar, I meant you.”

“Oh.” I blush.

“What do you say? You think you wanna open up so we can grab something sweet. I promise I am a paying customer. We can bring back some stuff for the club too. These fuckers might be getting the munchies soon.”

I start to laugh. “Sure, let me grab my purse, I have my keys in there. Should I meet you there or do you want to ride with me?” He holds out his hand.

“I am driving your cage. I would love to get you on the back of my bike but I don’t think taking cupcakes and cookies on a bike would really be a good idea.”

“I can drive, it’s no problem.”

“Liz, I am driving. Keys.” He holds his hand out again. I dig into my purse and drop my keys into his hand. Buzz wraps his hands around my fingers when I drop the keys into his hands.      “Come on sugar, let’s go.” He grabs and holds my hand, dragging me along towards my car. I have a Subaru Crosstrek, it is a small cross over, it’s white and I have a tulip and butterfly hanging from the rear view mirror. Buzz walks to the passenger side and opens the door for me. “There ya go hun, hop in.” I hop in.

“Thanks Buzz.” I see him walk around my car and get into the driver’s side.

“You ready?” He asks as he buckles in and adjusts the seats. I am not short but he is a giant. He is about 6-foot-something and all muscle. My car isn’t tiny but he makes it look small. He pushes the chair back almost all the way.

“Yes. Let’s go. I have these new cupcakes I made earlier this morning, I was going to test them out tomorrow but now that we are going there I am gonna bring them back and see what everyone says. I made a German chocolate cupcake flavor, as well as a strawberry cheesecake.”

“Damn, that sounds good.” He starts up my car and 10 minutes later, we arrive at my bakery, Sweetie Pies. I am looking down at my phone, checking my email when Buzz stops the car. I can feel his tension and anger building up. I haven’t even gotten a chance to look at my bakery because I am looking at him.

“You stay in the car Liz.”

“What is it?” I look up and notice the lights on in my shop and the front window shattered. I gulp a huge intake of breath, “Oh my gosh.” I immediately jump out of the car and make my way to the front door.

“Woman, I told you to stay in the car.” He is following behind me.

I walk in through the front door which has been broken into and see broken glass all over the place, with glass crunching beneath our feet. My display cases have all be trashed and shattered. Someone took all the food and smashed it all over the place and wrote in what looks like frosting, the word “Fat Slut.” I am lost in my thoughts thinking of who would do such a thing when Buzz places a hand on my shoulder.

“Liz? Honey?”

I can’t help but to break down into tears and cover my face with my hands. I don’t want this tall drink of hotness to see me become a hot mess. I keep my back to him. “I am sorry Buzz, I don’t mean to break down like this but who would do such a thing. I need to call the police.”

“Liz, you don’t need to apologize for this, this isn’t your fault.” He comes over and hugs me and cradles me. I can’t help but nuzzle my face in his neck. He smells like leather and fresh cinnamon.

“Apparently it is, I mean, why would someone just target my bakery like this, and they didn’t even take the money again. I can’t stand the torment anymore and the police aren’t helping.”

I look up at his face. He looks pissed. “What do you mean? You are talking like this is some ongoing thing. You told me someone vandalized before, has something else happened?”

“Please Buzz, this isn’t your problem. I need to call the police.” I grab my phone from my pocket and dial 911. I don’t want to be cold with him but this isn’t his problem. Someone has been harassing me and tormenting me. I wish they would just leave me alone. I don’t want him to know about this, I know we barely know each other but I know he is protective of me. I make a move to get out of his embrace. He finally lets me go.
