Chapter Ten

Kat

“I’m never going to be able to enter my office without remembering what you did to me in there,” Jesse admitted.

I grinned, feeling a slight blush on my cheeks. “I can’t believe I did that.” I’d had the afternoon to remember the feel of him on my tongue, and I still couldn’t understand were my courage had come from.

“I love that you did that…and the laughs and innuendo at the office will disappear soon, hopefully.”

Groaning, I buried my face in my hands. “They all know what I did?”

“They probably presume we did a lot more than you blowing me.” Jesse laughed and wrapped an arm around my shoulders, and teased, “The sight of you on your knees with my dick in your mouth is one I won’t forget.”

“I won’t either.”

He smiled. “Don’t worry.” He dropped a kiss to the top of my head. “It’s me they’ll joke with. I think you’re safe.”

“Well, I won’t be meeting you there any time soon.” I blew out a breath. “I think I’m getting too old for office hanky-panky anyway. I have lower backache. I might need a bit of TLC before you take me again,” I moaned. “I’m old.”

Jesse laughed when I sat at the kitchen table. “No way are you going to start with the age thing again. No way! You’re mine, and I’m not prepared to let you go.”

Dropping my head to the table in my kitchen, I watched the sexy man in his sweats and white T-shirt. “I’m totally okay with that.”

I could see Jesse was happy with my admission, and he sat opposite me with a mug of warm coffee in his hands. “So,” he drawled, “are you going to go to the Christmas Eve fancy dress party at the town hall?”

My mind raced with what I could wear…and then I remembered my two sons and their families would be staying with me by then.

“Why the frown?”

I should have realized he’d pick up on my distress.

“Miles and William will be home for Christmas.” I bit my lip. “Miles is twenty-five, and William is twenty-four.” Groaning, I straightened and held Jesse’s gaze. I knew my next words would be important to him and I didn’t want to screw things up. My hand searched for his and when it was enclosed between his larger ones, I said, “We are very new, and I know what we have is special, and…and, I’m going to tell them about you the evening they arrive.”

“Phew,” Jesse blew out a loud breath. “I thought you were going to ask me to keep a low profile.”

I watched him and realized he really had been worried I’d do that to him. Standing up, I moved around the table. Removing his mug from one hand, I made room so I could sit on his lap. My arms wound around his neck as I rested my forehead against his. “I know I worry about this thing, between us, but I’m not ashamed to be with you. My nerves are going to get the better of me when they’re here and I’m working up to telling them, but I’m not going to back out. You’re too important to me for that to happen.”

“The last thing I want, Kat, is for you to be worried, but I am a permanent fixture in your life, and they’re going to have to deal with it.”

I smiled, my heart pounding. “I’m not sure what is going to happen when I tell them, but, if they don’t accept what I tell them straightaway, they will eventually. I know them, they will come around.”

Sighing, Jesse held me closer, and moved me so my head rested on his shoulder. “I’m going to be here when they arrive with you.”

“But—”

“I need to be with you when you tell them. We’re together in this relationship and I’m not willing to leave you alone to talk to them.” He kissed the top of my head. “We’ll tell them together…and we’ll go to the Christmas Eve party together.”

“It makes me nervous but, perhaps, it might go down better if you’re here with me.” I pressed closer and kissed his neck. “I like having you in my home. It’s right, but as much as I love it here, I prefer your cabin.”

He tipped my face up to his and met my gaze. “Why?”

“Your cabin looks more like a home and the views are amazing. My house is big and I thought it was what I wanted, but I’m not sure anymore.”

“Do you think you’re feeling unsettled because I’ve suddenly taken over your life?” he smirked.

“Think highly of yourself, huh?” I teased, moving to straddle him.

“I’m never too sure what to expect from you,” he admitted and winced. “I know what I want, but I’m also aware that you’re struggling.”

I brushed my fingers through his hair and smiled. “I’m nervous about a lot of things, and once we’ve told Miles and William, I’ll be able to settle. It’s important to me that they accept our relationship.”

“I get it,” Jesse agreed. “I plan on doing everything to make sure they accept me.” He grinned. “They’ll see how much I want to be with you, and how much I make you happy. That’s all they’ll want for their mother.”

“Sure of yourself, huh?”

“I am.” He smirked. “Now, how about you show me just how much you want me,” Jesse said, his large hands on my bottom.

“I’ll enjoy doing just that.”
