Chapter Thirty One

Drew

Before I even open my eyes I can feel my nerves swirling around inside of my stomach. Cyrus keeps assuring me that everything will be fine but nothing will take away these knots stuck in my belly. The men are leaving first thing, so it’s eight in the morning when we leave on Cyrus’ motorcycle. We’re all meeting at the clubhouse and I wanted to wait with my family and friends rather than alone. I would be a nervous wreck. At least at the clubhouse I have more of a support system and I’m surrounded by the ones I love.

Before we get onto Cyrus’ bike, he holds me close and kisses me hungrily. Leaving me wanting for more as we climb onto our seats. He’s careful as he drives us to the clubhouse because my body is still healing. I hold onto him, my arms wrapped around Cyrus tightly and my head leaning against his back. I enjoy the moment and it helps with my nerves. I’ve always found riding a motorcycle both exciting and peaceful.

When we wait at the traffic lights, Cyrus will place a hand on my thigh. It makes me feel so special. He may be this big and frightening club member, but with me he’s the total opposite and I love seeing a different side to him than anyone else.

When we arrive at the clubhouse, we walk inside together to wait for the rest of the men to arrive. Baby is one of them and I see Maci looking a little pale in the corner. I let Cyrus know that I’ll be just a minute and I walk over to her.

“Mace, are you ok?” I quietly ask her.

“Is it that obvious?” She sulks. “Why do I care about him?”

Well, at least she’s not lying to herself anymore.

“We can’t help who we want.” Maci looks to me, tearing her eyes away from Baby as he talks with a couple of club bunnies.

“The men are going on a dangerous run and instead of talking to his family and friends, he’s with them.” She snaps.

“Baby!” I yell. “Get your arse over here!” I know he heard me, so I turn to Maci who is wearing a face of shock and dread. “I’m sorry, but you need to talk to him. I’ve recently learnt to not hold back on what you feel and to be honest. You two need to talk, before he goes.”

“What’s up?” Baby asks when he reaches us. I give him a tight hug, wishing him luck and I leave them to it. I’ve really thrown them into the deep end, but they need this.

As I make my way back to Cyrus, I wish good luck to the men who are prepping to leave and they kiss my forehead in return. A mark of respect but I also have a feeling it’s for other reasons after recent events. I hold tightly onto my brothers and tell them that I love them.

I return to Cyrus’ side and he holds me in his arms. I can feel the curious looks but we don’t care. Cyrus told me about his chat with my dad at the hospital. Giving Cyrus the green light with me so I don’t care about anyone else’s opinion.

My dad steps into the room and my nerves kick up a notch because I know it’s time for the men to go. Cyrus kisses me deeply and holds me tight. Promising to come back to me but it doesn’t help calm my panicking. My mother stands beside me and places a supporting hand on my shoulder as tears arrive and I struggle to fight them back. It’s just getting a bit more painful than I had expected it to be.

“I’ll come back to you.” Cyrus declares, giving me one last kiss. “And then our story will start.”

His words hit me deep. “And I’ll be waiting.” I promise.

My mum wraps her arm around me as we all follow the men outside to their bikes. They all straddle their bikes and wave before leaving us all to worry about them.

“They’ll be ok.” My mother whispers caringly to me.

“I know, but I just can’t help it.” I take a deep breath to try and calm myself.

You better fucking come back to me Cyrus Redgrave!

Cyrus

I’m filled with so much determination when we ride out. I want to bring this Chaser fucking president back to Drew. I need to do this for her. He’s been behind all of the hurt the club has felt and needs to be brought to his end.

We arrive at the place the last of the Chasers are hiding at. It seems pretty typical that it’s a rundown warehouse. Looks like the place is about to fall down too.

“Why can’t they find somewhere decent to go for once?” Scrappy laughs as we creep forward. We’ve parked our bikes at a safe distance along with a van some prospects are waiting in. Ready for our brand new captives.

We all lay down on the bank overlooking the old building. There’s some flickering lights coming from the inside which tells me its candle light. Everyone is on edge, wanting this to be over and get back to normal. We don’t have to wait too long before we see Crunch, the Chaser’s President. He lights a cigarette and Grim orders Scrappy and myself to assist him with making a grab for Crunch. We stay to the shadows as we run down as quietly as we can. Grim and Scrappy round the building from the left and I move forward on the right hand side so it’s easier for us to corner him. I see Scrappy in the bushes and we nod, signalling for us to both move in. Very fast, we run towards him from either side, Grim walking out as cocky as ever as I land a punch on Crunch’s face, knocking him out cold. Scrappy catches him and Grim slaps Crunch on the cheek. “Welcome to hell you fucker.”

We carry him back up the bank and as the three of us take him to the van that the prospects are waiting in, the men left behind set fire to the building the Chasers were hiding in. As the remaining men make a run for it out of the building, our men take aim and shoot them down.

We dump Crunch in the back of the van, the prospects tie him up and tape up his mouth so when he does wake up, nobody can hear him. As we make our way back to our men, the fire shines bright and we meet Prez who stands tall and proud. “All men have been taken care of, so let’s get the fuck out of here before someone reports that fire.”

During the ride back home, all I can think about is Drew and giving her this gift that she’s been craving since the day Sketch died. I’m no fool, I know she will love him for the rest of her life and I respect her for that. It shows me that she’s loyal and I want that. In time, she will make room in her heart for me.

As soon as we enter the gates, I see Drew waiting by the door of the clubhouse. My girl. She runs over as I climb off my bike, wrapping her arms around me tightly. “Thank god.”

“I told you darling,” I turn in her arms and wrap mine around her. “I made a promise to come back.”

I know this insecurity is because she lost Sketch in such a tragic way, but I actually like it. Having someone worry about me. As fucked as that sounds.

“Did you get him?” She asks eagerly. I pick her up in my arms and Drew wraps hers around my neck. She giggles before I claim her in a kiss that tells her how much I want her right now. Her eyes shine bright when she ends it. “Is that a yes?”

“That’s a fuck yes.” I squeeze her tight and she lands kisses all over my face. We’re putting on a show and it’s clear to everyone that we’re together. I’m rubbing it in my brother’s faces too, because I’m no fucking fool. I know when I stepped inside this club again, the men were eyeing her up because she was free again. Not anymore fuckers. Since I was just a little boy, Drew’s been mine and I’ve waited a long fucking time for this.

“You got him for me?” Drew has genuine tears in her eyes and I put her back down on her feet. Prez and Drew’s mum come over, her mum wraps her in a hug and Prez slaps down on my shoulder.

“Well done son.” I nod my respect.

“We got them mum.” Drew looks to her mum and they both share their happy and relieved tears.

Her mum strokes her hair, grinning an emotional smile. “We did.”

Drew runs back into my arms, asking when she can look him in the face, so Prez suggests that we go into his office. Laura stays behind Drew and I follow Prez and even her brothers come along. We all sit down and wait to hear what Prez has to say. They all know what Drew wants to do in regards to Burner and Crunch but I guess it all comes down to what Prez thinks is best.

“OK.” Prez sighs. “Drew, we now have the men in the warehouse who killed Sketch.”

Drew takes a deep breath and nods. “OK.”

“What do you want to do?” Prez asks.

“I want to slice his throat.” There’s no hint of a smile on Drew’s face. Just pure determination.

Prez nods. “I agree that you deserve this and it is your right to do so. So I’m gonna let you but if you face them and decide you can’t, pick someone else to do it for you.”

Drew nods. “Fine by me.”

“Now, Venom is the one who ordered the hit but he’s not yours to touch.” Prez waits for Drew to agree and then stands. “Let’s get going then.”

Drew

We arrive at the warehouse and if I’m brutally honest, I’m feeling a little sick. That would have something to do with the fact that I’m so anxious to set my eyes on those men again, and to meet Crunch. I stand facing the door and think that on the other side, there’s two men inside who killed Sketch and this is what I’ve been wanting for so long.

“You ready?” Cyrus asks me and with one last breath I shake away my nerves and open the door.

The stench of sweat, piss, shit and blood hits my nose as soon as I walk inside but I don’t let that bother me. Burner is the first man I see, tied up and beaten.

“Well aren’t you a sight for sore eyes.” I grin down at him. Cyrus, my dad and my brothers are all behind me, supporting me and I feel stronger for it.

“Fuck off.” He spits and Cyrus charges forwards but I stop him.

“That’s not very nice.” I shake my head, glancing over at the table nearby. A long pipe seems very attractive to me and I take it in my hand. I place it near his face and demand he kiss it, but he doesn’t move. “I said kiss it!”

Burner looks behind me at all the men and then kisses the pipe. They all laugh and then I take a swing, hitting him right on the face. Everyone winces, but I laugh and Burner bleeds.

I move onto the others and I enjoy giving Twist what he deserves after what he did to Suzy. I grab a sharp knife and hold it to his face. “This is for Suzy.” And I slash his face. Twist cries out in pain but I don’t care. I push the blade into his stomach and watch his blood pool out. It brings me back to seeing Suzy lying in her own blood and it starts to get a little too much.

“I want him killed.” I order. “Nobody in particular, but it needs to be painful. For Suzy.”

Zane steps forward with a great big grin. “I’d be glad to.”

Then I set my eyes on Crunch and my fury boils to the surface. I reach for the metal pole again and bash his head as many times as I can and then his stomach. I reach for the knife and bury it deep in his arm, enjoying his screaming. I begin to feel a little shaky and drop the knife. Cyrus is right at my side in a second.

“Drew?” He asks.

“Grim, I want you lot to take care of them all. They all deserve to die.” Grim nods in answer and then I turn to Cyrus. “Take me home.”

“Come on darling.” Cyrus wraps me in his arms and we walk out together.

As we walk outside the warehouse, I jump as I hear a gunshot. Cyrus turns and lets me know that was Burner. I hear Twists screams as Zane drags him away. Zane even sings as he disappears further into the warehouse. The door closes behind us and I take in a big gulp of fresh air. That was a lot harder than I expected.

“You ready?” Cyrus asks as I get onto the back of his bike.

“Ready as I’ll ever be.” I smile and as we ride back to my apartment and I feel as free as I’ve ever been. The sunshine beams down on us and I soak it up, sending a silent message to Sketch to let him know I did it and that he can rest now. I will no longer be alone and that he doesn’t have to worry about me. One day we will meet again.

I wrap my arms around Cyrus and he squeezes my thigh. Leaning my head against his back, looking forward to the life I’m going to share with Cyrus. My sexy, dark and deadly dangerous biker.
