Agony: Kings of Rebellion MC #4 by K.T Fisher (16)

Chapter Sixteen

Cyrus

As dangerous as a man might be, having a cup of tea in the morning is needed and that’s no exception with The Kings MC. I sit at my table, my all day English breakfast in front of me and a cup of tea in my hand. I look around and see most of the men the same, the only thing that’s different is the variety in food. Thanks to the bunnies and the odd old lady that stayed over at the clubhouse last night, we’re all having a belly full of good food.

A couple of bunnies saunter by, faces full of make up at this time in the morning. Zane sits opposite me, eyeing the women as they pass as his slice of toast pauses in front on his greedy mouth. The bunnies see this as an opportunity to sit with us and I growl as I eat. They both eye me cautiously.

“Ignore my brother ladies.” Zane pats both of their legs. “He gets angry when he’s hungry.”

One of the girls giggle, and eyes me. “What exactly are you hungry for?”

I frown. “You see my plate of food right?” I ask her before stabbing the bacon on my plate and shoving it into my mouth.

The bunnies exchange a nervous glance at one another and my brother spears them. “Fuck off girls and save yourselves.”

“Not interested?” Zane taunts as the girls scurry away.

“Shut up, it’s too early for this shit.” I growl at him from across the table.

Zane frowns as he chews on his toast. “It’s never too early.” He eyes another bunny who walks by. “Drew’s got in your fucking head, brother.”

Just as I’m about to tell my brother to shut the fuck up, Baby walks in and marches up to our table. “Hurry and finish your food boys, Prez wants to see you in his office.”

I shove the rest of the bacon in my mouth, finishing my breakfast and follow Baby, not giving a shit if my brother is following. Turns out he is though because when I enter Prez’s office, Zane is right there beside me. Prez is on the phone, so we wait patiently.

Baby turns to face us. “He’s talking to Breaker.”

“Great guy.” Zane nods.

“You’ve met the US President?” Baby asks.

I can’t help but smile. “We’re nomads Baby, we go wherever the fuck we want.”

“I understand that Breaker, but we need to move in on the girl. Shit is getting too close around here. Get the girl because she might be in danger.” Prez growls, nodding his head at whatever Breaker is saying on the other end. “Yeah she’s innocent, but I don’t want them getting their hands on her.”

We all listen in as Prez says his goodbyes, finalising his orders to the US Prez before hanging up and looking over to me and my brother.

Prez sighs, releasing the tension in his shoulders. Grim, Devlin and Scrappy join us and Prez begins.

“I need you all to circle the bars and if you spot any Satan Sons they need to be brought in. I don’t give a fuck if you have to do it dirty, bring them to the warehouse.” Prez orders. “After my little chat with our captured man, he confirms they have everything to do with this so I need them caught. Get as many men to join you, unless they’re busy doing their own tasks I’ve given them.”

With that, we’re dismissed and we prepare ourselves for some good old fashioned hunting.

Drew

The next morning I’m supporting a little headache when there’s a knock at the front door. When I see my mother on the other side through the peephole, I think about not answering but I decide against it when I realise she will give me shit for ignoring her.

“Breakfast?” She holds up a plate of food in the air when I open the door. The delicious scent of sausages and bacon is nearly overwhelming and I move aside so she can enter. “Good morning to you too Drew.”

“Morning.” I close the door behind her. “Why are you bringing me breakfast?”

My mother puts the large plate of food on the kitchen side and turns to face me. “I heard how drunk you were last night.”

I walk towards the sofa, trying to ignore the lure of the food. My mother only brought that to gain her entry through my front door. “Oh, so you’re here to tell me off then.”

“It all depends.” She stands over me, her face straight and her arms folded. “Did you spend the night with Cyrus Redgrave?”

My heart drops, I should have known my mother would have had her spies reporting back to her when I left with Cyrus last night. “Relax, he’s just a friend and nothing else.”

I see her fists clench. “A friend with certain benefits?”

“Mother.”  I growl.

“Cyrus is a dangerous man.” She completely ignores me. “He seems more beast than man, but he could be good for you Drew.” Oh my god! Is this woman serious? “Your father seems to like him. He’s a great member of the club, him and his brother. They both help protect the club and our reputation. You could do worse.”

I clench my jaw, holding my tongue enough to calm down before I reply. “I’m not looking for anyone else mother. I miss Sketch every single day and I know it’s never going to change. I don’t want or need anyone else.”

She eventually sits beside me, gently placing her hand on my knee. “You will always miss him my darling. Sketch was an amazing man and you loved him. That will never change, but there will come a day when you will have a place in your heart for another. I didn’t mean to hurt your feelings.”

“I know.” I sigh, because I do. We all know that my mother is blunt and loves her own voice, but she loves her children more than anything and I’m lucky enough to be one of them. “But I can’t ever see that happening, I really can’t.” I wipe at my tears. “I crave him every day and I would do anything to have him back in my life. But I know that will never happen, and I will never see him again. That’s a hard and bitter pill to swallow.”

“Oh Drew.” My mum holds me, smoothing my hair as I let loose of some more tears.

I hear the floor board creek as Maci steps out of her room. “Aunt June, I love waking up to the smell of your cooking.” Both my mother and I laugh, and Maci quickly rushes over. “Everything ok?”

“Fine.” I wipe at my face, leaning up from my mums shoulder.

Kissing me on the forehead, my mother stands and pats Maci on the shoulder. “I’ll leave you girls to it, make sure you eat food.”

“Oh we will.” Maci giggles, walking her to the door. She then prepares the food my mother has brought for us, bringing it over for me to eat it on my lap, along with her own plate.

“How was your night?” I ask her between mouthfuls of food.

“Same old.” She shrugs. For as long as my dad knew that Maci wasn’t a regular club bunny, she’s been helping out at the clubhouse in other ways. Such as helping the old ladies with the food, looking after the children, tending the bar and most importantly, keeping the other bunnies in order. “I had some company though to entertain me.” She laughs.

“Who?” I quickly ask, dying to know who has brought that smile to her face.

“One of the Redgrave’s.” She giggles and I’m confused why my heart begins to beat so fast. “That man sure is charming.”

“Which brother?” I ask, not knowing why it’s so important to me.

Maci eyes me before she answers. “Zane.” My heartbeat returns to normal and I find it fucking odd. “Baby was drunk last night though.” Maci rolls her eyes. “He wouldn’t move from the bar, so I wasn’t able to talk with Zane as much as I would have liked.”

“Baby was jealous.” I point out.

Maci keeps quiet, eating her food but looks up at me for a few seconds. “They did nearly get into a fight.”

I almost choke on my breakfast. “Zane and Baby?”

“Yep.” She nods. “I decided to leave them both and begin to drink, the rest is a blur.”

Maci starts to look a little upset, so I drop it and we continue to eat our breakfast. I do feel for Maci, it’s clear to see that she loves my brother and he’s too much of a dick to see what’s right in front of him.
