Resisting Temptation (Into You Book 2) by Sheena Binkley (15)

Troy

I wasn’t expecting to go out tonight with my employees. Hell, when did I ever really go out with them? But after what happened with Tracy, I didn’t feel like going home to an empty house. Now, I was in Jamarcus’ car heading to a club that he was familiar with, Dune. Clubs are not really my thing, I’d rather just go to bars, but I have been to one every now and then. Besides, it should be interesting to see Reece in another environment besides at Suds. I’ve  already seen a different side of her when she got drunk at Lucinda’s, so maybe seeing her at the club would make her seem less like a dictator and more like a human being.

“Are you and Reece going to be on your best behavior, or do I have to referee you two tonight?” Jamarcus asked.

“I’m fine; she’s the one who has a problem with me.”

“Whatever is going on needs to be left somewhere, because I’m planning to have a good time. I need to after the day we all had.”

“Couldn’t agree more,”

“We thought you had a good night after you left with Tracy.” Tyler said.

I sighed. “Nothing happened, even though it’s not any of y’all business.”

“What happened?” Jamarcus asked.

I shrugged. “For some reason, I couldn’t go through with it.”

“Wait, let me get this straight. You actually did not have sex with her? Wow, this night just keeps getting more interesting by the minute.”

“What is that suppose to mean?”

“Troy, if that was any other time, you would had banged her more than once. I think Reece has had  an effect on you.”

I shook my head. “Reece does not have any type of effect on me. You saw how she was talking to me earlier.”

“That’s because she was jealous. Of course she wasn’t going to admit that.” Tyler said.

“I actually have to agree with him, and that’s saying a lot. She was jealous that you were with another woman.” Jamarcus said.

I stared out the window, wondering if what they were saying was true. Reece hasn’t been giving any type of vibes about being with me, but she was acting crazy earlier.

“Whatever about Reece; let’s just have some fun tonight.”

“That’s what I’m talking about.” Jamarcus said.

I ran my hand through my hair as I thought about the moment Reece and I shared earlier. The way she was staring at me made me wonder if something else was going on between us. Maybe I’m confused because I haven’t really had any thoughts when I’m with anyone.

As Jamarcus pulled into the parking lot, we pulled alongside Nena’s car as she rolled down the window to look at us.

“Since Tyler called up Jesse and Alejandro, they’re all here. I can’t believe I’m hanging out at a club with my manager. This is awkward.”

“I’m not that much older than you all.”

“Whatever. This better be worth it,” Nena said as she got out of the car.

Reece slowly got out from the passenger seat before approaching me. She took a deep breath before speaking.

“I’m sorry for what happened earlier. I guess that was my smart mouth again thinking irrationally.”

“I’m kind of getting used to that.”

“But you’re right. You were off the clock, so you should be able to do whatever you want.”

“Honestly, Reece, were you upset that I left with her?”

“You really want to know?”

“Yes, I do.”

“Let’s not do this, Troy. Like I said, nothing is going to happen between us.”

“Why not? Because we work together?”

“There are a lot of reasons why,”

“What are you afraid of, Reece?” I asked as I stepped closer to her. Her eyes grew wide as I stared into them.

“Troy, you do know we are out with co-workers. I don’t want anyone to get the wrong idea. We’re trying to rebuild the store’s image, remember.”

“You also need to remember that we’re not at Suds right now. It’s Friday night and we’re out. Live a little and enjoy the night.”

She seemed nervous as I continued watching her body language.

“Has anyone ever told you how beautiful your eyes are? I could look into them all day and night.”

She was speechless as I smiled. “You probably thinking I’m bullshitting you, don”t  you?”

“Yeah, I do.”

“I’m not, Reece. That was the first thing I noticed about you. They can brighten an entire room.”

I walked away from her, leaving her speechless. She probably really thinks I was charming her, but I wasn’t. I really do love her eyes.

What the hell?

I looked back at Reece, who was still standing by Nena’s car. While Nena was trying to get Reece’s attention, I turned around and smiled.

Maybe Jamarcus and Tyler were right. Maybe I should try to explore this thing with Reece a bit further.
