Cross My Heart by S.N. Garza, Stephanie Nicole Garza (13)

She was so damn beautiful. Even with the rush of pleasure that spread out over her cheeks from the petit morte, her arms clutched my shoulders, trying to get closer, she’s never looked more exquisite. It took everything I had to keep watch around us. I did not want anyone’s eyes on her as she had her little bliss. I needed to get her back to my hotel. My blood was hot and it all radiated down to my dick. Needing a good, hard release.

I shifted my dick, trying to get it somewhat relieved but I knew it was in vain. I needed to feel the snug little pussy she had. And if she was what I thought she was…I’d have to take her slow at first.

God, I couldn’t wait.

“Come on, Evony.”

I tucked her into my body, moving away so I can open the passenger door.

“Alright.”

“Speechless, Evony?” A small growl rumbled in her throat and she tried pushing me away but it was in vain. “No, you’re trapped now, honey. Let’s go. We have a few things to do.”

“How the hell am I supposed to get in this thing?” She grumbled, as she looked up into the massive truck.

“You’re just a little thing, baby. Like this.” I lifted her up and she crawled into the cab, kicking out accidently—hopefully by accident— and kicked my head.

“Oops. Sorry.”

Little minx wasn’t sorry at all. A laugh was in her tone and she straightened herself before looking at me. I was holding my head as a smile tilted on her full, pouty lips.

“You okay?”

“Yes, you little ninja.”

Then I slammed the door in mock anger—I could never be mad at her and went to get in on the other side. She stayed pretty quiet as I drove. First stop was the little Ace Hardware store in town.

“What are we doing here?”

“Your mama’s trailer needs a new lock, remember?”

The tension in the cab just racketed up to ten.

She bristled, her teeth tight as she said, “I don’t need you to get anything for me. I have my own money and I can fix things myself.”

“Hey, I broke it. Let me replace it. Stop being so damn stubborn, Evony and for once in your life let someone else take care of it.”

“I don’t need anyone to take care of anything, Gavin. I’ve been on my own for a long time. I can do most handyman jobs myself anyway.”

“Oh, so you’re a regular handywoman, huh?”

“Yes. We couldn’t afford to hire someone and I had to go to the library and look it up. Parts weren’t expensive and I was able to redneck rig shit to work as good as new.”

Damn. The thought of her having to do everything herself really twisted my insides. Did no one help her? Knowing she was all alone this way burned my guts.

“No one ever tried helping, Gavin. It’s just the way the world works here. I’m white trash and everyone believes I’m the town whore. If I wasn’t going to strip or put out for them, they usually told me no to their services. Funny, right? A fucking seventeen year old trying to get the sink pipes fixed and I asked if I could pay payments or whatever and I was told if I did a little dance, he’d give me a discount. If I let him fuck me, I’d get the pipes fixed at no cost.”

God. Some of the things she says hits me with a right and then hits with a left sometimes. My heart stopped as I let that all sink in. And my eyes were beginning to cloud over with red hot rage.

“What did you do? Did you call the cops and get him arrested for sexually harassing you?”

“Gavin. I was stripping at sixteen. I had no other way of working. I mean I tried the whole flipping burgers shit. It didn’t pay the bills and with mama not having a job? It is what it is. Burger joints weren’t good enough. If I had called the cops I’d be in worse trouble and no, I didn’t do anything for him. I told that sick fuck to take his tools and shove them up his ass. After I looked up what I needed to do in the library, I ended up having to drive to another town to get the tools and supplies I needed and I did it myself. But to let you know, they might not welcome me in here. The owner frequents the club, and his wife is the cashier. She doesn’t like me in there to ‘entice’ him into coming to the club. So maybe we should just go somewhere else.”

“No. Are you ashamed of yourself?”

“No.”

“Then here is fine. If the owner or the wife has anything to say to you, it’ll have to go through me. And I’m a helluva lot meaner than you, little ninja.”

“Oooookay. Whatever. Your funeral.”

“Just come on.”

I got out and she tried opening her door, but I grabbed her wrist, tugging her towards the driver’s side.

“You don’t want me to come in?”

“Yes, of course. You have to pick out whatever you want. But I’ll help you get out of the truck, so get over here, honey.”

She swiveled her legs towards the driver’s side, and I knew now that she just couldn’t control her motor functions because I reflexively backed away as her legs almost knocked my head again.

Her smile was half apologetic and half ‘what can I do, ya know?’ She was fucking adorable. And my heart just thumped double time because I want this woman with every single breath in my body. And I wasn’t just talking about sex.

She put her hands on my shoulders and because I love the fucking torture her body gave mine, I got just a bit closer and slid her body over mine. Letting my hard and needy dick show her exactly what it wanted.

A small gasp let out as she got to her feet, a fever pitch rising on her cheeks. This girl might strip but she wasn’t putting out. I can promise that right here and right now. This little minx was all bluff when it came to the sexual side of life and I was going to be the only man to show her that freedom of release.

I chuckled, tucking her hand in mine as I shut the door behind her.

“Asshole.” She mumbled, trying to pull her hand away from mine. Silly woman.

“I love it when you call me such sweet names.”

“Let my hand go.”

“No, so just shut up and let’s get a lock for the door since we can’t get one for that sexy mouth of yours.”

That shut her up. Was she not used to being called sexy? Did no one treat her with respect or kindness? It made me want to get her out of this little town even more.

“I need to call in work and tell Coach I’m not going to come in. Something about being in that jailhouse just grates on a girl’s skin. I need a hot shower, get the au de jailhouse smell off me.”

“You can take a shower at my hotel, Evony. And good, you should tell him you’re not going back period.”

“Gavin. Don’t even try to think you can tell me what to do.”

“I’m not trying. I’m doing. Evony, you know you don’t belong in that place. I was an idiot. In the fucking highest. I thought I could trust my mother. My own fucking mother. I’m sorry.”

“Gavin, stop worrying about it. No guilt. It’s just the way it is.”

“Evony—

“Are we going in or not? I feel eyes on me.”

“Let’s go then.”

I opened the door and let her go in before me. However we weren’t in this place but a few steps when everything seemed to just stop. I looked around and saw a few towns’ people, and the woman who was obviously the wife of the shop owner, look our way and stared right at Evony with what looked like hostile animosity. My protective genes rose to the fore and I wrapped my arm around Evony’s shoulders and proceeded to casually walk around the bins ignoring the ugly stares around us. Evony didn’t seem uncomfortable but then she must be used to it. I wasn't and this shit was really pissing me off. I wanted us to get in and out of here as quickly as possible, so with Evony’s hand tucked in mine I walked up to the empty counter. The look on this woman’s face was so pinched and closed I knew she was going to say something that was sure to piss me off even more.

“Where are your door locks, ma’am?”

“We don’t want her kind in here. If you’re with her, we don’t need your kind here either.”

“Hmm…our money isn’t good enough? I’m Gavin Winters, by the way. I just came back for my mother’s funeral. I needed to get a few things, but since my money isn’t good—

“Oh! Yes, locks are on aisle six. Your mother was such a pillar to our community.” She changed her tone real quick but made sure she didn’t look at Evony. She acted as if she wasn’t even there and my heart was pounding like mad. I hate this shit. I didn’t want to drive to Baytown for anything when what I wanted to do was get Evony all alone. Driving all the way out there and back would take away from my alone time with her and that just wouldn’t do.

I just kept propelling us forward, Evony held her head up high. Not letting anyone get the best of her or bring her down. Damn. She really was something. Ostracized by this fucking town and never letting it get to her, but I knew, deep down it did. She grew up too fucking early. If she thought I didn’t know it, she was wrong. I might not see it because she really did her best to have nerves of damn steel, but I remember the little girl she used to be and that little girl was in there somewhere, dying and screaming to get free.

We were almost to the right aisle when Evony started laughing. Then she started wheezing over, her laughter becoming strained and a snort came out.

“You okay, Evony?”

“Do you not see it? Oh, the fucking irony. And they think I’m sick.”

“See what?”

The other patrons looked at us like we were crazy and Evony lifted one hand from her knee and pointed upward. I looked up to the aisle sign and—oh God.

Aisle five: Hardware—Lubricants, ropes and chains, screws and then tie downs.

“You wicked girl. Maybe this is just the aisle we need, huh?”

“You wish, Gavin.”

“I do, Ev. I really do. Now, come on, let’s get what we need and get the hell out of here. This place is grating on my nerves.”

She laughed some more. The sound so joyous and free.

I walked up down the door aisle and she calmed down with a sigh.

“God. I hadn’t laughed like that since—,” she stopped, her eyes crinkling as if she was trying to think really hard when the last time she laughed so freely and without restraint. “Wow. It’s really bad that I can’t even remember.”

She looked sheepishly at me before picking the cheapest lock and bolt.

“You sure?”

“Yeah.” I looked at her because it was the cheapest one. Didn’t she want more security? “Gavin, it’s okay. There’s nothing there that anyone would want to steal, trust me.”

“Alright, babe. Let’s get going then.”

We went up to the front to pay out, when the owner came out from the back, probably to see what all the commotion was about.

“Everything good up here, Mary Lou?”

“Yes. Mr. Winters here just needed to grab a new door lock.”

“Oh, yeah. I heard your mama’s place was broken into this morning.”

Then everyone in the store looked right at Evony, who had the mischievous smirk on her face.

“Actually, there was no break in.” I passed her my card, and as she swiped, I said, “This is for Evony’s mama’s place. I broke her door knob.”

The owner’s wife, tried canceling the transaction but it was already spitting out the paper receipt.

I snatched the paper from her hand and signed it.

“Let’s go, honey. I’ve had enough of the shitty people in this shitty town.”

I turned, Evony’s hand in mine and as we were almost out the door, she stopped, turned and said, “See you this weekend, Jeff!”

And with a big obvious wink, she turned and pulled me away while I heard shouts going off in the store.

Getting back in the truck, I could only shake my head.

“Vixen. God, Evony. How do you even live here?”

I was starting to see just how horrid the people were towards her. Everywhere we went, people just stared at her like a leper. Didn’t she ever want to just pack up her things and leave here? Start over?

“I deal. I usually go to Baytown if I want or need anything.”

“But—

“No buts, Gavin. Stop trying to make things worse. I don’t worry about it. It’s just how things are. Now, let’s get to the trailer so I don’t have to worry about mama bitchin’ about the door.”

“No.”
