Dinner went well. Roman enjoyed seeing Leo and Amy interact. They teased each other and laughed together. He smiled at her, again realizing how lucky he was to call her a friend. “It matters, and thank you.” Roman pulled her into a hug and kissed her forehead.
Amy’s arms wrapped tightly around his waist. “I love you,” she told him.
“I love you too.” He always would.
It was then that her car pulled up to the curb. Roman opened the door for her, and said, “Call me when you get home.” He closed the door, and the car drove away. He watched until they disappeared from sight.
Tonight had gone well. He felt great. Everything was coming together. Everything felt right.
Roman turned and made his way back into his apartment. He opened the door to see Leo standing there waiting for him. “Did you miss me?” he teased, closing them in together.
