Biker Salvation: The Lost Souls MC Book Nine by Ellie R Hunter (37)

Dex

If I thought it was hard watching her leave me the first time, it was diabolical this afternoon when she said she had to go and settle her mom in above the diner.

Her mom said to pick her up at seven and she’ll be all mine. I certainly liked the sound of that.

At dead on seven o’clock, I knock on their new door and nearly barrel through when it opens so quickly.

“What the…?”

“Oh, hey, sorry,” Libby starts to laugh, “I was about to grab the last bag from the car, I didn’t realise the time.”

I don’t care, I’m not waiting another minute to spend time with her. I understood this afternoon, but tonight, it’s my time.

I block the doorway and hold onto her hips. Narrowing her eyes, she doesn’t expect me to throw her over my shoulder, so when I do, she lets out a short scream.

Rebecca comes rushing out to see what’s going on and stands back when she sees me.

“I’m taking her now, I’ll have her back before the sun rises,” I wink and receive a smile.

“Mom, call me if you need me, do not hesitate.”

I barely give her time to answer before I’m carrying her down the stairs and putting her down next to my bike.

Before she can yell at me, or say what she was about to say, I crash my mouth onto hers and close my eyes.

Her touch, her taste, I need it all and I’m taking it.

“Let’s go.”

With the sun starting to set, the skyline becomes a whirl of soft pinks and oranges. Life couldn’t be any more perfect as we ride to the club.

She’s here, with me, and not going anywhere.

I push my bike to the limit and make it back to the club in record time.

“Welcome to my clubhouse,” I grin, taking her hand and helping her off the bike. I have to be touching her at all times. I feel starved if I’m not.

I have no intention of staying down in the bar, and I avoid everyone as I lead her up to my room.

I’m so hungry for her, I have to stop myself from throwing her inside and kicking the door shut.

Although, once the door is shut, all bets are off.

I entwine my leg with hers and scoot her next to me. She isn’t going far from me again. She seems content to lay beside me, and I take her in. She’s changed since the last time I saw her, not physically, I don’t know how to explain it, she looks surer of herself. It reminds me how her mom was this afternoon.

“I thought your mom would be doing better after all this time?”

“So did I, but dad did a real number on her. She wants to find someone in town, a counsellor, or therapist. I think she’ll be happy here though, I really do.”

“What about you? Do you think you’ll be happy here?”

“I think I’m going to be very happy here, especially when I see you’ve covered your tattoo up.”

Lifting my hand in hers like she did months ago, she runs her finger over the black rose that hides the heels.

“You can’t see them at all,” she says, sounding pleased.

“That was the plan, you were right, they had to go. I had this done about a month after I got back.”

“You didn’t tell me.”

“You were right again, I needed to get right with myself before I started anything with you, I’m glad it happened now you’re here. It was torturous before you got here,” I laugh and then turn serious, “There is something I should tell you though, I’m the one who killed Baze. I shot him and then went looking for you.”

“I don’t care, and I don’t want to talk about him.”

She rolls onto her side and leans up on her elbow.

“I should tell you, I’m in love with you.”

I mimic her movements and lay on my side, perching my head up on my hand.

“Yeah?” I grin, liking how much I love hearing that from her mouth.

“Yeah, and here’s where you either say you’re in love with me too, or thanks but I’m just not that into you…”

I press my mouth to hers and shut her up, as cute as she can be, her doubts aren’t welcome here.

Opening my mouth, I put her out of her misery, “I love you too.”

“Yeah?”

Nodding, I grin. I’m fucking happy as fucking fuck.

“Today we move forward together.”

“Together,” she smiles up at me.

“Together.”
