Hide and Seek: A Rock Games Novel: Vol. 2 by Nicole S. Goodin (8)

hannah

I was dressed head to toe in motocross gear, and it was so hot I was absolutely covered in sweat, and I still couldn’t remember having this much fun, ever.

I pulled off my helmet and shook my hair out as I watched Jasper fly around the corner and skid to a stop on the loose gravel.

I’d just pulled out my show-stopper trick and I could have sworn I’d seen his jaw drop from inside his helmet.

I was that good.

Vin had dubbed it the ‘H-bomb’. He’d named it after me since I was the only girl that had been able to not only contribute to it when we were playing around creating it, but because I was the only one who could actually nail the whole thing without eating shit.

I knew J hadn’t been expecting any of this, but that was me

Full of surprises.

And I wasn’t the only one.

Parker was right; Jasper was a crazy bastard on a bike. If it wasn’t for the fact that I knew he could afford to replace it, I would have been worried as hell about him smashing up Vin’s bike.

That Yamaha was his baby.

I shouldn’t have wasted my time worrying. Jasper might have been wild on two wheels, but he gave the bike and the track the respect it deserved.

He was actually pretty good too – he could throw a whip like a boss…. he was no Eli Tomac, but I wouldn’t have swapped my afternoon riding partner for anyone in the world.

Jasper Jones was something else.

We were the same person in so many ways, but at the same time we were complete opposites.

We both craved a rush, that much was clear, but when he wasn’t chasing that high, Jasper was chill.

Like, super chill.

I, on the other hand, was not.

‘Chill’ was not one of my defining qualities.

I was more known for being hyperactive and for losing my mind over shit that didn’t actually matter in the slightest.

I talked too much, and I always talked too loud.

I was the crazy girl, and he was the laid-back boy.

But when all that was said and done, I could vouch the shit out of the saying ‘opposites attract’, because, Christ… I’d never been more attracted to a man in my entire life.

I watched like a hawk as he shed the helmet from his head and whipped off the jersey he was wearing, revealing his bare, tattoo-covered torso.

I could just about feel the dribble rolling down my chin.

His body was lean and defined, his muscles tight and strong.

He reminded me of a puma or some other type of lithe, agile cat.

“Holy shit, biker barbie, what the fuck was that last trick you pulled?” he chuckled as he strolled towards me.

Holy shit is it hot in here?

I couldn’t think straight with him looking like that.

I did the only thing I could think of and followed his lead by stripping off my jersey and standing in front of him in only my sports bra, riding pants and boots.

He looked like sex on a stick, and I was going to do my damn best to make him feel as off kilter as I did right now.

His step faltered, and his eyes took a slow appraisal of my body.

I heard him mumble something under his breath that sounded a hell of a lot like ‘motherfucker’, and I grinned in triumph.

I kicked down my stand and waited for him, excitement thrumming through my veins at the prospect of what might go down next.

I’d tried to convince him that what went on between the two of us shouldn’t happen again, but I knew I was kidding myself. One roll in the hay with him was never going to cut it.

He was an itch I needed to scratch.

I knew it – and I was pretty sure he knew it too.

Hell, I was pretty sure Parker and Charlotte would have known it as well if they weren’t so caught up falling in love with each other.

“Your thoughts are loud again,” he murmured as he reached me.

His arms wound around my middle, almost as though it was without thought, the same way mine went around his neck.

My heart was beating so fast I was sure he could hear it.

He ran his nose up and down mine for what felt like forever. It was like he was just drinking in the moment.

“You’re so damn addictive,” he breathed.

I deliberately tipped my face up to meet his, our mouths only brushing lightly.

“You sure?” he whispered, his voice uncertain.

The fact that he was willing to stop this, to check that it was what I really wanted only made me want him more.

“Couldn’t be surer.”

His lips crashed against mine and the thrill I felt made the moves I’d thrown only minutes before on my bike feel like child’s play.

Our slick skin met with a soft thud as he dropped his hands under my ass and hoisted me up onto the seat of my bike.

I threaded my fingers into his damp hair and pulled him closer.

How I ever thought I was going to resist this man was beyond me.

“You wanna get out of here or what?” his husky voice asked.

It was not lost on me that it was the same question he asked me before taking me to his bed last week.

I smirked. “I was starting to think you’d never ask.”
