Lotus by T.L Smith (6)

Just under one year together and Lotus still made my breath hitch every time she walked into the room. She wanted to move in with me, told me she was, leaving no room to argue. Trying to persuade her otherwise was hard. Lotus couldn’t be around what I was around, she would start to see the skeletons in my closet, the demons I hid, the crime we lived. I couldn’t risk exposing her to any of that, but she fought me on it every day.

I had the house to myself, as my mother decided there was no need for her to stay anymore in an attempt to look after me. What a joke. Because once you reached a certain age, the government cut you off and she no longer received entitlements. Luckily for me, I had my own money to cover the cost. Moving away right now just didn’t feel right, as I was an almost graduate, and having a woman kept me grounded. Oh, yes, she was all woman. A gorgeous girl who made my head turn in circles just from being near her. Even the lows, as well as the highs, were worth every second I spent with her.

Lotus was sitting in the car, filling out her application for law school. She was determined, and part of that determination scared me, but another part excited me as well.

Walking into Cole’s house, he was sitting where his lazy ass sits all the time, on the couch with a joint to his lips. He looked up, saw it was me then looked away. If Lotus had walked in with me, he would have gotten up, put out his joint and walked over to greet her. Me, he didn’t care enough to even get up.

“Took you long enough,” he complained while shaking his head at me, but his eyes were permanently glued to the television.

“She’s in the car.” Cole’s eyes quickly met mine, his hand came down, and he butted out the joint. “Go and keep her company.”

He doesn’t question me, it was something he liked doing. Lotus was teaching him—math, English—and to the surprise of everyone, he liked it. Soon he may even be smarter than me.

Upon opening the door that led to an enclosed back room, I noticed a guy my age lying on the cold cemented floor, his hands were tied behind his back as well as rope being wound around his feet, effectively trapping him in position so he couldn’t move. His eyes went wide and his mouth was taped shut. Pulling the tape off fast, he spat out the sock Cole must have stuffed in there. I’d seen him before. He attended a private school not far from here, his father was also a police officer.

“My father will find me and then you’ll be sorry.”

Pulling a chair out from the wall, I sat on it looking down at him. His terror-stricken eyes went wide, and he started verbally spewing exactly who his father was and that I should be afraid. This kid didn’t know shit. His father bought from me—dirty cop was what he was, nothing more than that. His son didn’t fall too far from the tree it seemed.

“Look, this is how it’s going to go…” Pausing because he started talking over me, I rolled my eyes at him. I didn’t have time for this shit, I had a date with a very seductive redhead who was waiting for me.

“You will let me go, and pray we don’t come after you.”

Shaking my head at his words, I removed the knife I kept in my boots.

He eyed it and shook his head slowly from side to side. “You’ll go to jail.”

He thought his words would scare me. Did he not know most of my friends and distant relatives were already in there? I wished it scared me, I wished it were enough for me to wake up, and realize all this was wrong. So wrong. But his words were not sufficient for me to take notice.

My leg began bouncing, he thought I was contemplating his words, but in reality, I was contemplating where to throw the knife. I needed to improve my aim, after all, and what better target practice was there?

He thought he could steal from us, he thought he could easily take my supplies. What a fool he was. He honestly thought we didn’t have security in place? This business was making us more than some of the rich kid’s families’ fathers made in years of sweat and hard work.

Fuck! We supplied to the rich kids’ families. Protection of our assets was necessary.

He went to speak again, but I was completely over it. The knife left my hand faster than the words could leave his mouth and it landed straight in his foot. His scream ripped through the room. Standing up, I shifted quickly and knocked him out. His mouth stayed open as he dropped to the floor, and I walked out as if nothing had happened and shut the door behind me.

Shaking my hands out, I hoped she hadn’t heard. When I walked out the front of the house, she was still in the car with a smiling Cole sitting right next to her. She spotted me at the same time Cole did, and he jumped out, letting me slide back into my car—which was an old piece of rundown scrap. Still, it ran for now. We couldn’t afford to bring attention to ourselves by buying a new car, so this car stayed. Plus, it was the first car I fucked her in, it was sure to hold memories.

Starting the car, we drove to my house. I looked over to see Lotus with her head down, concentrating on her papers. Coming to a stop out the front, I closed them, her crystal clear green eyes looked up at me with a smirk. Getting out, I walked around the car to her side, opening it and letting her out. The moment her feet touched the ground and the car door was shut, I grabbed her ass, lifted her so her body was flush with mine. Then I licked up the side of her neck. She shivered as I walked closer to the house.

Lotus’ body had always responded to mine with need, primal need, just as I did to her. We were not a couple that could go days without touching. We could possibly go a few hours, we had to for school, but even then, it was hard if we didn’t manage to find somewhere. Bathrooms, cars, broom closets, we would find a way to satisfy the need we both had for each other.

The moment we were in my house and the door was shut behind us, she lifted her head back, and her soft hands cupped my cheeks. One thumb started stroking, showing me that I was hers and she was mine.

While kissing me softly on the lips, she whispered, “Keep drowning.”

Those words hold truer than any other sentiment of love, those words were our love. The best kind of love, we were drowning in the love we had for each other.

Lotus’ back slammed against the wall, and her hands didn’t release my face. She stayed exactly where she was, loving me the only way we knew how. One hand held her up, while the other pulled at her skirt. She dropped her hands, tearing her own panties in half so they fell off her body, then she pulled her shirt up so her breasts were exposed.

I loved that she was as needy as I was. My hands worked fast on my trousers, pulling them down. The moment they touched the ground she was sliding her hand in place straight over me, not giving me a moment to breathe. She let me think I had the upper hand until she took control of the situation.

Lotus was unlike any other.

My mouth sucked and kissed down her neck as I slammed her into the wall, trapping her there. Lotus was being too greedy, too fast. She tried moving her hips, squeezing around me to make me want to fuck her hard, but I held still. Teasing was always the best way to bring her greediness out. Especially with Lotus, if I could take my time with her, savor her, I could never lose her, could I? That was my belief at the time anyway.

Reaching her tits with my mouth, her hands were still trapped on the wall. Her hands went up, and her nails tried to dig into the wall, but all they did was scrape as I sucked each breast hard, popping the first out of my mouth to move to the next. After I had my play, I let up, releasing her from her entrapment, and the moment I did, she moved. Then I gripped both ass cheeks hard, forcing her to move even faster, coming down on me harder. Her head lolled back, her hair a mass of messy curls lying on her back and shoulders as she moved. Pulling her curls so she stayed in position, which was perfect. Riding my cock, tits in my face, hand in her hair, and the other on the best ass ever known to man. That was life, right fucking there.

“Orion.” My name left her lips like I was her own ecstasy. Maybe I was because she sure as shit was mine.

Lotus went limp. My hands wrapped around her and carried her to my bed. She laid down with a smirk on her face. “I’m moving in,” she declared. “Just for that every day.”

“Okay.”

Lotus sat up, her eyes went wide. She didn’t think I would agree. I always tried for us to meet elsewhere because this place was too dirty for her, but it suited me fine. Not for someone like her, though, she was too good for this shithole.

“Really?”

I looked around the rundown room with old wooden sash style windows with no screens. The paint was chipped, and the wood was gouged. It was a hell, my hell. One I welcomed her into with open arms. Maybe she could make it livable. I had the money to make it something nice. I just didn’t want to sell it, it was the only home I’d ever known.

“Yes.” She jumped and came at me hard, almost knocking me from the bed. Her arms wrapped around me, squeezing the life out of me and into her.

“Think of all the sex we can have.” She giggled. I laughed as well. I just hoped I could keep it up. Keeping my secrets from her, keeping her safe, so she didn’t look at me like the rest of the world did. Because Lotus deserved to shine, and despite everything that was my life, she was the one good thing to come out of it.

“Stop it.” Lotus’ words rang through my ears. Her hands went back to my face as she cupped my cheeks. “Stop it,” she whispered and closed her eyes as she kissed me softly on the lips. Lotus tasted like strawberries and vanilla. She always did.

“If you knew…”

She shook her head, dropping her hands from my face. Those eyes that knew me so well stared at me, and I knew she was going to tell me not to worry. It was what she did.

“I’m here, aren’t I? I choose where I want to be. With you. Don’t worry.”

There it was. But I did worry. It was the only thing I actually worried about. Her.

Lotus moved in that night.

She couldn’t wait.

Her parents were not impressed. Lotus’ father and mother looked at me like I was about to corrupt their daughter, but it was a little too late for that. They begged her to rethink her decision, but all she did was kiss both their cheeks. She smiled as she took my hand and we walked out the door.

A year flew by fast. Lotus was studying, and I was, well, doing what I did best. She knew now that something was up because she wondered where I got the money that I spent on the house and her. A shrug of the shoulders was all she got when she questioned me about it which was closely followed by a pissed-off face from her. Which just turned me on and then ultimately led to sex.

Two years was our turning point.

It was the year the lows started climbing in like a spider does through a crack in the wall.

Lotus started suspecting.

She wanted answers.

Answers I couldn’t give her.

Bliss doesn’t last forever, and soon the walls cracked and we came down with them.

Sometimes we would return to our highs.

But the lows, they were almost too much to bear.
