Entangled: Book Two (The Tangled Series 2) by Katherine King (5)

Chapter 5

Eric

Thrusting my hips forward one more time, I close my eyes, my arms straining as I hold myself above the woman of my choice for this evening, as I feel the satisfaction of an orgasm slide through me. Glancing down at where I’m still connected to Camila, I withdraw myself completely, careful not to spill a drop from the condom, before I collapse next to her on the bed.

I’d needed that.

Since Emma had arrived three months ago, I’d made no headway with her at all. I felt irritated and sexually frustrated all day and knew I had to find someone to relieve the ache once again.

I’d hoped that it would only take a couple of weeks, a month at the most, to get Emma into my bed but the truth of it was, I was nowhere nearer to my goal than the day she stepped off the plane. If anything, she has only grown colder, more distant.

She wasn’t the vibrant Emma that I’d first met.

She’d lost that light that had initially attracted me, like it had been snuffed out the moment she stepped off that plane and I had no idea why. After all, I’d given her what she had been looking for.

Looking up at the ceiling, I continue to think of Emma.

Since arriving here, she’d thrown herself into working all of the time. Several times I’d asked her to dinner, to try to get her to let me at least make a dent in that invisible steel shield she had in place, but it always remained firmly in place. I wasn’t quite sure how to deal with a woman like Emma. She wasn’t like any that I have ever met before.

By now, they would’ve been in my bed.

“Stay with me tonight,” Camila pouts as she rolls over to trace circles around one of my nipples, her leg coming up to entwine around mine.

Looking at her blond beauty, with her hair tousled from our quick fuck, I know there’s a lot of guys that would love to be in this enviable position but the truth of the matter for me was I’d only wanted to slake my lust between some pretty thighs and Camila had fit the bill for the evening.

She was tall, thin, and beautiful but the fact that she was married, along with the inside knowledge that I knew her husband was out of town for the night, was the real reason why I’d chosen to call her tonight.

It meant no complications.

Where I really wanted to be was between Emma’s thighs, making her forget about the man that she still seems to be connected to despite the fact that Lucas had firmly severed all ties.

If she only gave me the chance, I know I could make her forget about him.

Sighing, exasperated, I disentangle myself from Camila and push to a standing position. Glancing back at Camila’s nakedness, I allow my eyes to move over her disparagingly as I reply, “Your husband will be home soon.”

Reaching for my jeans that I’d dropped to the floor in my haste to bury myself between Camila’s thighs, I jerk them on, wanting to get out of here quickly now that I’d accomplished what I wanted. I didn’t give a fuck if her husband came home or not but I would prefer the lack of drama if possible. I hated the way women often pulled you into drama and I found through my years of experience with women that getting involved with the single ones brought the most drama. They tended to cling, to make it harder to sever ties once I became bored. With married women, most often they were looking for the same thing as me.

A quick and hot fuck.

Especially beautiful married women who married some old guy for their money.

While the husbands kept them satisfied with their money, I kept them satisfied with my cock.

As I begin buttoning my jeans, Camila’s hand comes to mine to halt me in my process.

Glancing at her face, I see the fake tears.

My hackles instantly rise.

Nothing raises irritability in me more than a woman crying.

Fake or not.

“Please,” she whispers, “I want you to stay. Clyde isn’t coming home until the early morning and I don’t want to be alone the rest of the night.”

Shaking her hand off, I respond coldly, “You know I never stay. So why are you asking now?”

I see a tear fall, sliding down her perfectly formed face and it does nothing but only agitate me further.

“I feel so lonely with Clyde, but you make me feel better,” she whispers, her tone one of self-pity.

Deciding to take a different route, trying to keep things as easy as it ever was between us, so I don’t have to end what I thought was a mutually satisfying and no strings attached relationship, I reply instead, “I have plans.”

“I can come with you,” she suggests. This time I pick up on the coyness in her tone.

Sighing heavily, getting more and more perturbed by the minute, I pull on my shirt and glancing back at Camila I suddenly want this to end.

I’ll easily find another woman in Camila’s circumstances to replace her.

It’s the only kind of women I’ve ever met. It’s all that has ever crossed my path.

Until Emma…

“Camila, I’ve never had any interest in you other than a quick fuck,” I hear her quick intake of breath, but it doesn’t bother me. “This has been a mutually beneficial relationship for the past few months. I get what I want, you get laid properly while still enjoying the fruits of your husband’s hard work. Don’t try to pretend this is anything more than that because it never was.”

Camila’s eyes widen and then another tear falls, her face crumpling into ugliness and I’ve had enough.

Pulling on my shoes, I state blandly, “If you’re looking for someone to fill your empty nights, I’m not the guy.” Turning, I stride to the bedroom door while ignoring her outraged cry.

“You’re a bastard!” I hear her scream.

Opening the door, I step through, but as I turn to look back at her glorious, blond nakedness, all I see is the usual.

A beautiful blond gold digger who is so selfish that she only thinks of herself.

Just like my mother.

“Find someone else to try to dig your claws into because I’m done. Lose my number.” I quickly shut the door as I see her reach for a gaudy glass ornament from her bedside table. I don’t even flinch when I hear it shatter against the door.

Striding down the hall and then down the staircase of Camila and Clyde’s extravagant home, I don’t stop until I reach my car. Sliding into the driver’s seat, I turn on the engine in my Porsche, rev the engine once before putting her into gear. I love the ear-splitting squeal that comes from my tires as I leave the evidence that Camila had a visitor on the pavement of their driveway.

Grinning, I head down the drive and out onto the road to merge with the LA traffic.
