Out of Line: A Bad Boy Stepbrother Romance by Juliana Conners (169)

Chapter 6 – Carl

My brother gets into some situations.  And he’s supposed to be the responsible one.  Needless to say, I was shocked when I walked in and he was about to kiss the new hire.  Holy shit. Right in his office lobby. Thank God HR wasn’t here to see this!

“What the hell is going on?” I asked, incredulous.

“Th-this is Mandy, the new hire,” Clayton explained.  “I was just comforting her.  She’s in a rough spot.”

“Uh huh,” I acknowledged in disbelief.  “What rough spot?”

“I don’t want to—” began Mandy.

“It’s fine, Mandy.  Carl’s family,” assured Clayton.

That was Clayton.  Everyone was family to him.  But of course, I really was the closest kind of family to him.  His brother, and his business partner.

“My boyfr—the guy that I live with, he’s a drug addict and I think he’s dealing.  I need to get out of my place in a hurry.  I don’t mean to burden you guys with this.”

“Jesus,” I said.  “You did the right thing by telling us.  Fuck that guy, we’ll get you out of there.”

I couldn’t believe I had jumped right into saving this chick, but my God she was hot.  I mean, I had seen some pictures of her and she had looked fine and all, but they didn’t do her justice compared to seeing her in person. For a second I zoned out and imagined taking her back to my place.  To have that big, beautiful ass back right up on me and to plow her all night long.

God damn.  Why did Clayton have to fall for this one?  I wanted her. We needed a powwow right now.

“Mandy, why don’t you continue working on those files we talked about earlier? Clayton and I are going to work out some details.”

“Yeah, let’s hit the conference room,”  Clayton agreed.

“Thanks guys, you’re so great for helping me!” said Mandy.

Holy shit.  Even the way she fucking thanked us was sexy.  Hopefully the conference room had some ice water, because I needed something cold.  My brother and I went inside and I shut the door and locked it.

No way the rest of the staff needed to hear this conversation.  Even though, apparently, they all could have just witnessed what Clayton just did—or almost just did—had any of them been the ones to walk into the office instead of me.

“What the hell, Clayton?” I demanded, as soon as the door was locked behind us.

“What?”

“What?  I saw that!  You were about to go at it with Mandy.  In your office. Are you nuts? You want to bang a new hire on her first day.  Our HR lawyer would jump out the window.”

“I can’t help it, Carl.  There’s something magnetic about her.”

“No shit.”

Clayton was pouring some ice water—luckily, some staff member had stocked the conference room earlier with beverages and refreshments—when he looked back up at me.

“Oh, no.  C’mon, Carl.”

“What?”

“All the women you get and you have to go after Mandy too?”

“Jesus. That’s the whole reason I insisted we hire her!  When I saw her picture, it was like a shot.  She is my exact type.  My exact type.”

“Well, what the Hell are we going to do?”

“We’re gonna help her, for one thing.  We still have rental property near the beach.”

“Shit, yeah.  Totally forgot about that.  No one’s in it this time of year anyway. It’s fucking winter.  Cold as shit.  But what do we do about us?”

I thought for a moment.  Clayton and I had run into this situation before.

“We could share her,” I proffered.

He looked at me as if I had just suggested we all go on a rocket ship trip to the moon together.  But there was a glimmer in his eye that told me he was considering what I was saying.

“Dude, this is crazy enough, that we both want to fuck our new hire,” Clayton said.  “Don’t get me wrong, I’m willing to share if she is but—”

“Well, what’s your read on her?”

“I mean, she seems pretty sexual.  Right before you walked in, I was describing what I’d do to her and she was pretty into it.”

I decided to keep the little detail about her sucking on her finger to myself.  She had done that for me.  That was mine.  Plus, he’d just get angry to hear that I had let the new girl do that— even though we were both discussing having her do more than that to us, right here, right now.

“Okay, so we explain to her.  She’ll either be into it or not, right?  Besides, doing two brothers.  That has a certain mystique, right?”

“Some women might think so, yes.”

“But we have to play our cards right.  We don’t want it to come off as creepy.”

“Agreed.  Worst that happens is she says no.”

“And if she picks one of us, we’re cool, right?”

We both nodded, although I wouldn’t be very cool with the thought of her choosing him, and I knew he wouldn’t be, either.  It was just something you said at times like this.  When you were deciding, with your brother, to go after the same girl.

“But she’ll want both of us,” I said decisively.  “I mean, we both want her, and we both always get what we want.”

“Exactly,” my brother said.  “We’ll get her because we want her.  But we don’t want to come across too predatory.  So let’s our play cards right for now, so we get what we want later.  Let’s not do anything to scare her away.  We need for this to work out.  And it’s a rather strange situation, so we might have to warm her up to the idea.”

“Good idea,” I agreed.  There were definitely some things on Mandy I liked the idea of warming up.

We shook on it and went back to the office lobby.  We were more composed.  We had a plan.

“Hey, Mandy,” I started.  “I hope I didn’t scare you by barging in like that before.”

“No-no, it’s fine,” she assured.  “I’m just so happy to have this opportunity.”

“Well, we’re happy to have you,” I assured.  “And the Plemmons brothers— we can’t help ourselves when it comes to a damsel in distress, so we found you a place.”

“Oh, my God, seriously?  Already?” she said, her big beautiful eyes going wide.

“Yeah,” explained Clayton.  “Carl reminded me: We have this summer rental near the beach.  This time of year, no one’s using it.  You’d actually be doing us a favor by staying in it and keeping an eye out on the place.”

“Wow, I don’t know how to thank you guys,” she gushed.  “I insist you charge me something.”

“Honestly, we were paying to have the place cleaned.  You clean it, you can stay there until you find some place better,” I assured her.  “As for thanking us…”

“Carl!” interrupted Clayton.

“What?  I gotta come clean,”

“About what?” she asked.

“You are very qualified for this position, the most qualified in fact.  But when I saw your picture on LinkedIn, I was smitten.  Seriously.  Just like my brother here.  We have similar tastes in women.  I hope you don’t find that weird,” said Carl smoothly.

“No, it’s very flattering,” she blushed.  “I find you both very attractive.”

“Well, the thing is—and this is completely separate from our offer to let you stay at our beach house, mind you—Clayton and I might like to share you, if you get my meaning.  Is that something that interests you?”

I was nervous, and rather annoyed at Clayton for breaking our deal and rushing in so quickly with the proposal.  But he’d never been a very patient man.  I didn’t know why I had expected him—or me—to be able to wait.  That had been quite unrealistic indeed. Quite dumb of me, actually.

Mandy laughed nervously and tapped a pen against the bottom of her lip.  I couldn’t tell if she was thinking about it or already sending us signals.  Maybe she was going to start sucking on that pen.

“Wow,” she said.  “That is an offer I’ve never had before.  I mean, sure, maybe some guys have suggested it jokingly.  It’s just that I’ve never actually considered it.  Until now.”

“So, your interest is piqued?” asked Clayton.

“Yes, there’s definitely some peaking going on in my mind,” she blushed again.

“Well, you don’t have to give us an answer right now,” I assured her, going back to the original plan, which was to give her some time.  Not move in too quickly.  “Why don’t you finish up your work and head home a bit early?  You can concentrate on packing up and starting to get moved into your new place tonight.”

“Tonight?  I can have it already?” she asked, looking pleased.

“Yes,” I reassured her.  “You really need to be out of your current situation, pronto.”

“Living with a drug addict is no good,” assured Clayton.  “Believe us, we know from personal experience.”

“Thank you so much for all your help,” she said.  “I don’t really have that much stuff to move.  The possessions aren’t important to me. I just need to get out of there.”

“You sure do,” I told her.  “So, don’t worry about anything else right now.  Just concentrate on that.”

“I’ll try,” she said, blushing again, but looking both of us up and down from underneath those beautiful lashes of hers.  “I have to admit; it’s going to be a lot easier said than done.”

It seemed she would probably take us up on our offer.  I liked the sound of her words. And, as I felt a bulge return to my pants, I could tell my cock did, too.
