Saving Samantha: A Single Dad Romance (Anything for Love Book 1) by Suzie Grace (29)

Chapter 2

LOGAN

I smile, watching Russell and Liam run around the resort like kids.

Russell returns from the reception desk with a fistful of brochures. “Check this out, man! They have all kinds of things: jet skis, inflatables, snorkeling—”

Liam cuts him off. “Forget that. We’re here to party. Snorkeling can wait. First, we’re going to get you wasted.”

This week in Puerto Vallarta is Russell’s stag do. He’s getting married in a few weeks’ time and this is my last gift to him while he’s still one of the guys. Before long, he’ll be planning double dates with other married couples and buying cribs for kids.

I’ve done everything I could to make sure this will be a trip to remember. The resort we’re staying in is five star and we’re in executive suites—one for each of us. We were picked up from the airport by a limo, greeted with champagne at the hotel, and I’ve got an unlimited budget for us to do whatever the hell we want while we’re in Mexico.

“I think the guy with the checkbook should be the one making decisions.” Russell turns to me. “What do you want to do, Logan?”

I hold up my hands. “This is all about you, man. You’re the one getting hitched. This is your week.”

“Well, I don’t know what there is to do in Puerto Vallarta…”

Liam grins. “I do. Callejero. It’s this nightclub in town. I’ve heard it’s the place to go. VIP booths. A rooftop terrace. Live DJs. Gorgeous women.”

I laugh. “Now I know why you really want to go.”

“What? It’s a stag do, isn’t it? That means booze, chicks, gambling, dancing, and generally going crazy.” He slaps Russell on the back. “This is your last week of freedom, my friend. You’re kissing your youth goodbye.”

Russell laughs. “I’m still only twenty-seven.”

“Doesn’t matter. As soon as you say I do, it’s all over.”

Glancing across at me, Russell raises his eyebrows. “Do you think it’s all over for me, Logan?”

“Of course not.” I chuckle. “God knows what I’d give to meet a decent, down-to-earth woman like you’ve found. I’m surrounded by gold-diggers everywhere I go. I’d love to meet someone who was above all that.”

Liam laughs. “I’d swap with you any day. For some of us, we’ve got nothing but Tinder and our right hands.”

“Mexico could be your chance to blend in a bit more,” Russell tells me. He grins. “Think about it. Nobody here knows who you are. We’ll dress you down a bit, and you can act like a normal guy for a change.”

I look down at my fitted polo and denim jeans. “What’s wrong with my clothes?”

Russell hides a smile. “A Dolce and Gabbana shirt and Jacob Cohen jeans? How much did that outfit cost you? A thousand bucks? Not to mention the Rolex on your wrist.”

“So? You buy cheap, you buy twice.”

“Regular guys can’t afford clothes like that. I’ll give you something of mine to wear. And take off that watch. In a tourist trap like this, you’re begging to get mugged.”

I think about it for a moment. Perhaps he’s got a point. I slide the watch off my wrist and place it in my pocket.

My money tends to get in the way of my relationships. It’s part of the reason I’m so close to Russell and Liam. They knew me before I had this kind of cash to blow, and liked me back when I was a nerdy kid who wanted to be a pilot; before I was a business tycoon taking home hundreds of millions each year. They’re true friends.

But maybe Russell’s right. Maybe here, in Mexico, I can finally meet someone who’s after more than my Amex Black Card.
