29 Days to Go

Oh, my head is banging. Last night was amazing, though. I have never laughed so much in my life. I am happy I took off work today. I would have been a zombie if I had gone in. After Adam, the stripper, finished his strip tease, we had some time to relax. He came out and joined us. At first, talking to him made me feel so uncomfortable, but as our conversation continued, I realised he was only stripping to make extra money for his children, who have complicated diseases. He is saving to take them away on holiday, just to escape the stresses of their real life for a little while. He really is a sweet man. It was nice to find out about the real man underneath the act he puts on for women.

He spent quite a while sitting outside with us in the garden area, asking about Rich, or as he called him, “The Lucky Man.”

I still remember the first time I met Rich, just like it was yesterday. I had gone to my auntie’s for the week, visiting with family. I had kindly offered to go to the shops for her to collect the necessary things for the barbecue later that day. My sister had come with me. She was busy playing on her mobile when a football flew towards me, followed by a young man whose eyes connected to mine immediately.

I am so sorry, Miss. Are you okay?” The young man questioned.

“Yes, fine,” I said, looking down at the ground.

“You don’t look it. Sit down, please,” he said, pointing to the curb. I sat down with his help.

“Thank you.”

“No, I am sorry. I shouldn’t have let the ball come over here.”

“It’s okay. Accidents happen.” I smiled, looking up at him.

I sat there staring into his eyes, the most beautiful colour I had ever seen. I couldn’t fully work out their colour because the sun was so bright. He bent down so he was kneeling in front of me. I could feel my heart fluttering. He was perfect.

“Miss, are you okay?” He asked, placing his hand on my knee.

“Yes, call me Jenny,” I said, smiling again.

“Jenny, it’s lovely to meet you. I’m Rich.”

We were inseparable from that day forward.

Those were the days when we had no real worries. It’s amazing how we have grown as a couple, and our feelings have matured. I know I love him more than ever, and I worry about him all the time. My only problem is the wedding. With everything that happened with Chad, I don’t want him there, and I know Rich says nothing happened, but that is not the point. Rich has been acting weird around me. Our sex used to be wild, unplanned, fun, earth-shattering. We always made each other orgasm before finishing together. Now it’s quick and emotionless. It’s like he doesn’t want me; he doesn’t want us.

I plan to get all housework done today then curl up with a film or two. The house is empty, which is good. I need something for this hangover. Oh, why did I drink so much?

I slowly climb out of bed and place my pink fluffy dressing gown over my underwear.  I really was drunk last night to have woken up almost naked. I head to the kitchen to collect a glass of water and headache tablets before lying on my new sofa.

This sofa was a gift from Rich’s mum. It’s amazing, a brown cotton with a white spiral pattern on it. It fits in with the front room perfectly. It has a matching circle footstool. His mum also bought the matching love chair, a circle chair with side that I love to curl up on. It even has a little bit to add a music player.

I reach out for my mobile.

Oh Megan, my head kills. Xx

Haha, Jenny, you went onto shots with Michele. What do you expect? Xx

Oh no, How is she? Xx

Throwing up for the 6th time in 40 minutes. So rough. Xx

Haha, unlucky. I’m never drinking again Megan. Xx

I have heard that before. Xx

Well this time I am serious. I’m going to die on the sofa all day. I’ll txt you later. Xx

Have fun. If you need anything txt me Jen. Xx

“Jennifer?” I hear, slowly opening my eyes.

“Jennifer?” Oh my, I slowly sit up and glance over at the clock. It’s ten in the morning. Oh no.

“Jenniferrrrrrrrrrr.” I walk to the front door and unlock it.

“Oh, you’re alive then.” I glance up.

“Yes, I’m alive, Uncle Dave,” I say, moving to the side. Uncle Dave is a tall, slim man with no hair. He started losing his hair before he turned thirty. His eyes are a hazel colour, not like any other family member’s eye colour.

“So, you’re hungover?” He questions before sitting down on the sofa.

“I was,” I state.

Uncle Dave makes himself at home as usual. He is my mum’s brother. He has always been a father figure in my life. At one time, my dad was really close to me, adored me, talked to me, and just spent time with me. When we lost Martin, he became different. I spoke with Mum a while back over who to give me away at the wedding.  She spoke with Dad, and he said he would be happier if his brother did it. Nothing better than knowing your own dad blames you for his only son’s death. I asked Uncle Dave the other day if he would give me away. He said yes and we agreed to discuss the details later. But, why today? Luckily, he did not come around too early. I don’t think I’m in the mood to talk too much.
