Believe Series box set by L Chapman (34)

“Mr. James, you don’t need to,” I state.

“You remember my name from the other day,” he smirks.

“I do, but only because one of your staff said it,” I add, not wanting him to think anything.

“Yes, that’s right. He did. But, please call me Warren,” he says, leaning closer and grabbing the drinks from behind me.

“Nice to meet you, Warren.” I can feel my heart beating so fast.

Our fingers touch when I take the glass of water from his hands, causing the heat to rise to my cheeks.  The club is so dark it is hard to see what he is wearing, other than a dark-coloured shirt and trousers.

“I best go and join the rest of them,” I state, looking toward my group of girlies.

“Who are you with?” He questions.

“People from work. Alison is leaving, so we are having a party,” I reply.

“Oh, that’s nice.” He pauses. “Stay here with me.”

I shouldn’t, but I want to. “Come join in. They are too drunk to care,” I say, taking a deep breath.

“Perfect.” He gently takes hold of the top of my arm and follows me through the crowd to the rest of my friends. They don’t even seem to notice I’m back from the bar or that I brought a guy with me.

I keep a safe distance from Warren on the dance floor. I dance like I don’t have a care in the world. I’m trying hard not to think about Rich, the wedding or anything else. I just want to have fun. I want to be me.

The song changes to “S & M” by Rhianna, and I can’t help but laugh. I stand there singing and dancing away, suddenly feeling someone’s hands on my hips. I turn around to see Warren. I don’t move away from him; instead, I keep dancing with his hands on my hips, my bum so close to his cock, my arms in the air. I’m suddenly brought to a standstill when I feel his lips on my neck. My heart stops beating momentarily. Oh. He kisses me again, slightly parting his lips this time for me to feel the wetness of his tongue. I turn and meet his eyes while his hand slides straight into my hair, pulling me closer to him, and his lips find mine. Slowly, his tongue invades my mouth. Oh, this is heaven.

“Jenny,” Alison says, tapping me on the shoulder.

“Yes, Alison?” I step away from Warren. Why did I just do that?

“I’m off home,” she states.

I give her a huge hug and watch her leave. I turn to Warren who is standing there with a look of desire on his face.

“Sorry, I shouldn’t have done that,” I state.

I bend down, grab my bag and start to leave. He takes hold of my wrist and pulls me close. “Please stay.”

“Why?”

“Let’s just talk,” he suggests.

“Okay fine,” I agree. I don’t want to go. This is the most alive I have felt in years.

Warren walks over towards the bar to order a couple of drinks as I find a little table in the corner of the club.

“Here you go. Another water,” he states, placing it down in front of me.

“Thank you.”

“So, do you come here often?” He asks.

“Oh, none of those lines, please.” I laugh, taking a sip of my drink.

“I was just asking. I have never seen you here before. I own this place, that’s all, so I’m here a lot.” He points to the dance floor.

“Oh, wow. I come here sometimes, but normally just to the bar after work.”

“What do you do?” He questions.

“I’m a nurse.”

“Maybe you can be my own private nurse.” He winks.

“Maybe.”

The club closes and everyone disappears, leaving us sitting here talking. I cannot stop looking at him, watching his chest rise up and down. Now that the lights have come on, I can see his shirt is midnight blue and tight. The colour suits him very well.

“I should really go,” I say, glancing at my watch.

“Let me take you home,” he counters.

“I’m not sure that’s a good idea. You have been drinking.” I point at his barely touched glass.

“I have only had one.” He smiles. “Please, it’s no problem.”

“If you insist.” I slowly rise and walk towards the bar, placing the two glasses on the other side.

“Thank you,” he murmurs. “You could work here, no problem.”

I turn to face him, my back leaning on the bar, “Oh, could I?”

He places his hands on my hips and lifts me onto the bar counter.
