Sinner by Erin Trejo (15)

Jessica

We’ve been here for days. I don’t even know where here is. Phoenix drove us to this cabin in the middle of nowhere. I was surprised at how nice it is. Phoenix has been distant though. He wanders around outside late at night. I heard the leaves crunching. He locks me in this room, but I can see out the bar covered windows. He always looks lost. He hasn’t come near me though, and I think that’s what hurts the most. I don’t know why he took me. I don’t care either. I lie on the bed with my eyes closed when I hear the click of the lock. It should be lunch time. It’s sad that after a few days of being locked in a room that I know that.

“Eat,” he demands, setting food on the table next to the bed. I’ve debated this. All of it. I’ve thought it over, and I refuse to eat anything he’s been bringing me. I don’t know if he’s poisoned it like Jake has. I refuse to find out. My body is weak from only drinking the water he brings in, and the only reason I do that is because it’s still sealed.

“I said eat, Jessica. You haven’t eaten in days.” I ignore his demands. I won’t do it. I’d rather die than be a prisoner to Phoenix the way I was to Jake. How the hell do I know Phoenix isn’t trying to poison me too?

“What the hell is your problem?” This is the most reaction I’ve gotten out of him since he took me. I remain silent in an attempt to piss him off. That never works. He storms out of the room every day, slamming the door behind him. I smile slightly at my little victory, that is until the door flies back open. Before I can turn my head to see what the hell is happening, Phoenix had me yanked off the bed and pushed against the wall. My eyes widen but then I slowly calm. This isn’t any different than what Jake has done to you. I repeat that in my head until my breathing slowly evens out. There is nothing he can do to me that Jake hasn’t already done. His nearly black eyes burn into me. Phoenix cocks his head to the side, studying my face. I don’t know what he’s looking for, but he isn’t going to find it. I won’t give him anything. As he said, he and Jake are like brothers.

“Who hurt you?” he asks, his tone deadly and demanding.

“Fuck you.” His lips curl into a smile. My insides melt as I watch him lick his lips. God, I want those lips on me. What kind of a sick mess of a person am I to want that?

“Is that what it’ll take to get you to talk? Me fucking you, Jess? I’ll do it. I’ll do it in a way you will never forget,” he warns me. That isn’t a threat. Jake has done that.

“Do it. I fucking dare you,” I taunt him. I can see the glimmer of evil in his eyes. I hold my head high and dare that he fucking does it. Call me sick, but I’m getting wet just thinking about him sliding inside of me.

“Do you know what I’d do to you? I would break you, Jess. I would ruin you. I would mark you worse than whoever did that to you.” His hand slides from my throat down the front of my shirt. His other hand comes up, ripping the fabric of my t-shirt in half, exposing my burned and tattered chest. His eyes dance over the scars before locking onto the burn. It’s hard to decipher right now as it’s healing and scabbing but one day you will see the mark that Jake permanently put there. You will see the shape of the skull and bones that is his ring. You can barely make it out as it sits right now, but I see something spark in Phoenix’s eyes as he stares at it.

“He wouldn’t.” He whispers to himself as if everything is coming in so clearly. His fingers slowly and gently run over my chest, over the scars, but he stops and huddles over the burn. His eyes dance with tension, his shoulders locking. I huff breaths in and out of my lungs, my chest heaving with each motion. Is it because he sees what Jake has done to me? Is it because he’s touching me? I don’t know anymore, and that’s the scariest part of all.

“You aren’t scared of me,” he says, his breathing returning to normal.

“Should I be?”

“Yes, Jess. These marks… they are nothing compared to what I want to do to you.” I gasp, sucking air into my lungs as he reveals his true intentions.

“Give me back to Jake,” I say, my voice cracking. I don’t want to go back to Jake, but if hurting worse or being sold is my other option, I opt for Jake. At least I know in his own sick way, he loves me.

“Why would I do that?” His eyes come back to mine. They’re haunted. They’re hiding secrets so dark that if he ever told them, he would suck the other person down with him.

“Because I can handle his pain.” Phoenix’s eyes narrow. Looking between my burn and my eyes, a reality check slams into him.

“That’s his ring,” he whispers. His eyes linger on the burn. He doesn’t move. His chest heaves as he pulls air into his lungs and mine deflate knowing that he just figured it out.

“And all the other marks?” No way. I’m not giving him that satisfaction. I straighten my spine and hold my ground.

“Answer me, Jessica. Did he do that to your body?” His jaw clenches. I swallow hard, but I refuse to acknowledge it. He already knows. Jake told me he knows… so why is he making me say it again? My body trembles. His gaze is my undoing, but when he leans in and presses his lips to mine, I almost lose myself. I don’t kiss him back. I can’t. His lips linger there, touching mine, our breath meeting halfway in the middle.

“I’m losing my mind, Jess. I’m not a good person. I do bad things all the time.” His lips stay there, toying with mine with every word that leaves his mouth.

“Give me back to Jake. Please, Phoenix.” He doesn’t move, and I’m prepared to beg. I don’t want to be sold into God knows what. I know what to expect from Jake. I know I can handle him.

“Can’t do that.”

“Why?” Tears slowly leak down my cheeks. Phoenix doesn’t move.

“Do you know how long I’ve wanted you? How long I’ve yearned to make you walk around wearing my marks? He’s marked you. You aren’t mine. I can’t have you because you gave yourself to him.” His tongue comes out and traces a line over my bottom lip. I suck in a breath, trying to control the shakes that are threatening to rip through my body.

“I never wanted him.” Phoenix slowly slides his hand across my stomach, causing me to gasp. The more his hand moves, the hotter I get. Fire rips through me as Phoenix slips a hand inside the sweatpants he had given me. With no panties, there is nothing to stop him from doing whatever the hell he wants. His fingers move slowly, his lips still barely touching mine. He slips a finger between my lips, finding me soaking wet.

“Mmmm… I knew you would feel good, but you are so tainted with him, aren’t you?” His voice is soft, but his touch is softer. He circles my clit, my breathing becoming ragged. I’ve dreamt of this moment, only not like this. I’ve dreamt of him taking me and making me his, claiming me in ways Jake never could. My body moves on its own, grinding against his finger.

“Shit, Jess,” he growls as he circles me faster. The world ceases to exist. My body responds to him like I knew it would. I’ve always wanted him, wanted this. His lips slam painfully into mine before he slips a finger inside of me. I cry out into his mouth, my hands still hanging at my sides. I take the chance and let them travel up his arms until I lock them around his neck. Phoenix thrusts his finger in and out so roughly; I’m sitting on the edge. His lips take me higher. The way he kisses me, like he may never have the chance again, stirs more emotions than I can handle.

“You’re going to come for me. I want to see you,” Phoenix whispers before pulling back a little. His eyes stay locked on mine. His fingers bend and stroke as heat rushes my core. Tilting my head back against the wall, I let him violate me. I let him fuck me with his fingers because I’ve always needed Phoenix, his touch, his heat. I’ve craved it.

“That’s it, baby. Let go for me.” His words send me spiraling out of control. Fire bursts from the inside out as I come all over his fingers. Phoenix leans in, resting his head on top of mine as my body shakes from him.

“I knew you’d feel so good coming around me,” he whispers, pulling his fingers out of me. I whine when he withdraws them. I could live forever with his fingers inside of me, touching me, teasing me. Watching him bring his hand to his lips and sucking his fingers only serves to make me want him more.

“What’s that look?” he asks, sucking his fingers clean.

“Please,” I beg, but what am I begging for? He took me! He kidnapped me, and he plans on selling me.

“Please?” He cocks his brow at me. “What are you begging me for, baby?” God, his words, his eyes, his voice. Everything about him is killing me slowly.

“I need you.”

“You think you need me. You need Jake.” His words make me cringe. He notices.

“All you have to do is tell me what I want to know, Jess. That’s it. I’ll give you whatever you want if you tell me.” He steps back, pulling his jeans and boxers to the floor. His rock-hard dick stands straight out, waiting to be taken. Phoenix reaches down and grabs his length, stroking it slowly.

“See how hard you get me? Even in my fucking dreams, I’m hard. Just thinking about you turns me to steel.” His fist works up and down, but his eyes stay on me.

“Phoenix.” The breathless way his name leaves my lips should scare me, but it doesn’t. This is the man that I’ve wanted for years, the man that could take all the bad and turn it good. I know he can.

“Jessica. Tell me what I want to know. Did Jake burn you?” he asks. I swallow hard before slowly nodding my head. His eyes blaze with fire but who is he mad at? Me? Jake? No, he said so himself, Jake is his family. He wouldn’t believe me.

“Turn around and put your hands on the wall. You move… and I will punish you.” Sucking in a breath, I turn and place my hands on the wall. I can feel him behind me, his presence a looming threat that I want to evoke. The sweatpants are yanked down my legs as groans escape him.

“So many scars,” he says softly, sounding like he’s in pain. His fingers touch each one, igniting a need in me that I’ve never felt before. I may have gotten wet for Jake, but this is more. So much more. His lips touch my neck, and I arch into him, pushing my ass out. Phoenix groans.

“Who put those scars on you?” His dick teases my entrance. I arch further, a fog coming over my mind. The need is too much. Too feral and raw. It’s ripping me apart from the inside out.

“I did,” I whisper. It’s the truth. Technically, Jake put them there–but I allowed it. I could have fought him harder. I could have run away sooner, but I didn’t. So, this is all my fault. These scars are mine and no one else’s. I cry out as his dick enters me.

“Lies, Jess. You didn’t do that to yourself.” His hips thrust… and his dick hits me deeply. Oh, God. He feels so good. The pain and pleasure are welcomed.

“I did it, Phoenix.” My nails claw at the wall in front of me. His hands on my hips, he pulls me back a step, pushing me forward until I bend slightly. His fingers dig painfully into my hips but when he begins to pound into me, I almost faint. The feelings I’ve only dreamt about all rush to the surface of my consciousness. Every feeling of him–including the rough way he holds me–it’s all perfect but scary.

“Someone did it. Someone hurt you!” he growls, plunging harder and thrusting faster.

“It was me!” I scream because that’s all I can think to say. My mind is a whirling mess. I don’t know what to say or do. He’s taking me the way I’ve dreamt about, and I can’t find words.

“It wasn’t you, but next time it will be me!” he screams as he violently thrusts inside of me. Tears leak down my cheeks, but I don’t know why. The harder he goes, the closer I get.

“Fucking take me, Jess!” he roars, slamming into me a few more times before I lose control of my trembling limbs. I come for him, just like he wanted, at the same time he fills me with himself.
