Chapter Twenty-Nine

Lan

You can’t do this to me,” Gamer cried and gave Easton sad eyes. “We’ve bonded. We’re all one now. They’re in my life, man. I’ll need my fix.”

Rolling my eyes, I left Easton standing over Gamer sitting on the floor with a pile of dogs around him. With a shake of my head, I walked into the kitchen for a beer, knowing it’d be stocked from Gamer being there, and I’d been right.

“I was gone two weeks.” I heard Easton say, trying not to laugh. Once we’d come through the door, the dogs ran at Easton and greeted him like he was God, lavishing him with excited yips, licks, and whimpers. The whole time, Gamer had sat on the couch glaring at Easton. I’d started laughing, earning the finger from Gamer before he sat on the floor and called the dogs to him.

They looked at him, then up at Easton. However, they stayed by Easton, until he’d told them to go.

“I need visitation rights,” Gamer announced.

I strolled back into the living room laughing and handed a beer to Easton. Then I took a seat on the chair down from Gamer.

“Of course you can come to see them. I can see how fond they are of you.”

Gamer snorted. “Fond? They fuckin’ love me.”

Easton’s lips twitched; then he thinned them. I just chuckled, getting another glare from Gamer.

“Just call me whenever you want to see them,” Easton offered.

Gamer nodded. “I think it’ll have to be three or four times a week to start with.”

Easton’s eyes flared. “Ah….”

“We’ll have to get back to you on that, Gamer,” I said.

“So you two are a thing now?” he asked.

Easton nodded, and I said, “Yep.”

Gamer glowered at me. “Don’t think you’ll earn their love right away. It takes a special kind of someone—”

I whistled. Immediately, the dogs ran over Gamer to get to me and sit at my feet. I rose a brow.

“Low, man. So fuckin’ low.”

“How…?” Easton queried.

“I’ve been comin’ over here to hang with Gamer a couple of nights. I guess your guys and girls found they liked me.”

Easton’s eyes softened, his smile turning tender.

Gamer groaned before standing. “I know when those I-wanna-get-me-some looks come out it’s time for me to go. However, before I do, I need to state anytime you go away, I have the right to mind our dogs.”

He walked past Easton, who looked at me and mouthed, “Our?”

I snorted with a shrug.

“Yes. Sounds good, Gamer, and thanks again for looking after them.” Easton followed him to the door. Gamer clicked his fingers, and the dogs came running over to them. “You’ve been training Tin, Bell, and Buddy. Because usually, they’d been running in circles and not listening.”

“Sure have.”

“Thank you. How about you come for dinner tomorrow night?”

I snorted. Easton was so damned soft-hearted. He could see Gamer had actually bonded with the mutts.

Gamer grinned. “Shit yeah, I’d be down for that.” He nodded and patted the dogs goodbye. Even went as far as leaning down and kissing them all on the head. “All right, be good for Easton.” He straightened. “I’ll see you guys tomorrow.”

“Later, Gamer,” I called, lifting my chin his way.

“Thanks again,” Easton said.

“Anytime.” Gamer lifted his chin and then walked out. Easton closed the door behind him and leaned against it.

“Why did it feel like I consented to a parenting arrangement with Gamer over the dogs?”

“Because that’s what happened.” I smirked.

He nodded. “Right. Okay.” He started laughing. “I was pretty sure he was about to start crying over leaving them.”

Chuckling, I nodded. “I reckon if you had of said he couldn’t come back, he wouldn’t have left.”

“I had that feeling too.” He made his way over to the chair I was in but stopped when I stood.

“You gonna drink that?” I asked, pointing to the beer he still held.

Easton glanced down to it, like he’d forgot he’d been holding it. “Uh, maybe?”

Taking his, I placed them on the coffee table then straightened. “I think I have a better idea instead of relaxing on the couch.”

He smirked, crossed his arms over his chest, and asked, “Really, and what would the idea be?”

I didn’t say anything at first. Instead, I dragged my tee from my body and threw it to the couch. Easton’s eyes flashed with heat. He even grazed his bottom lip with his top teeth as he eyed my upper body.

“You want to work out?” the smartarse asked.

I chuckled. “Yeah, East. I want to work out. Naked. In your room. With you.” I stepped forward. “We could work our bodies all over.”

“Yes,” he whispered, just as I stopped in front of him. I gripped the bottom on his tee and slowly pulled it up over his head and threw it to the couch with mine. “Working out is good,” he said.

I ran my hands over his back, his shoulders, and over the front to his chest and stomach, which quivered under my touch. “It’s very good. We’ll get hot and sweaty.”

He moaned, leaned in, and touched his lips to mine. He said against them, “I’m liking this.”

“Yeah?”

“Yes. But it would be better if we were already in my room and if Nurse hadn’t called me before I got back with an update, I’d be using the time to get you naked to inspect your injuries instead of… you know.”

Smiling, I winked. “I do. So thank fuck for Nurse updating you.” Sliding my hand to the back on his head, I pulled him close and kissed him hard and hot. His hands glided over my body and sent my pulse racing. I groaned against his mouth when he rubbed his hand up and down my length behind my jeans.

“Bedroom,” he mumbled against me.

Shifting back, I ordered, “Dogs in or out?”

He glanced to the dogs sitting peacefully in their dog beds. “In for now. I’m sure I’ll need a drink later, so I’ll let them out then.”

Smiling, I took his hand in mine and led him down the hall like I owned the place. Passing the spare room, I happened to glance at the door and then started laughing.

“What?” Easton asked. I pointed to the door. Easton snorted, then chuckled, shaking his head at the sign stuck to the door. It read Gamer’s Room.

The guy was an idiot. But with a good heart.

Easton stepped close. He nipped at my shoulder, and all thoughts of Gamer vanished.

Once again, I was all but dragging him down the rest of the hall and into his bedroom. Nearing the bed, I turned, took his other hand, and smiled down at him.

“You don’t understand how fuckin’ amazin’ this is for me. Being here with you in my life again means so damn much to me. An honest dream come true.”

“Lan… I do know because it’s the same as what I’m feeling.”

Letting go of his hands, I watched as I ran my fingers up his arms, across his shoulders, to each side of his neck where I cupped his face in both palms.

We stared at each other as I gently tugged him forward. He tilted his head back, and I lowered mine to kiss the hell out of him.
