Chapter 62

Lydia

“But exactly what the heck is it you do to me when your fingers are way up there?” I ask. “I didn’t even know I could have orgasms like that. One after the other. Bam, bam, bam. It’s totally insane.”

It’s just after 3 a.m. and I’m sprawled across Colby’s bed, naked and sweaty, after we just finished playing yet another round of Make Lydia Come Over and Over Again. Colby’s lying next to me, on his side, also naked, his legs open casually to reveal every inch of his flaccid dick and balls. Music is playing at low volume in the room. The current song is “I Belong to You,” by Lenny Kravitz. Perfect.

“It’s called The Sure Thing,” Colby says. “It makes a woman come over and over again, really hard. She’s just got to be lured into the right frame of mind first and then it’s off to the races. She can have as many orgasms as she can physically tolerate before passing out or crying mercy.”

I wipe my sweaty brow. “Well, I guess I was in the right frame of mind.”

“You sure were.” He snickers.

“What’s the right frame of mind?”

Colby considers that. “Really, really turned on. Not at all ambivalent about wanting sex. Mind and body relaxed and open and willing.”

“Interesting.”

“It worked so well this time because this is the first time I’ve had you in precisely the right frame of mind. Up until now, you’ve always been holding back in some way.”

“Well, clearly, something was different this time because that was bananas. I mean, you had me going at your parents’ and the gym way back when, but tonight has been supernatural.”

Colby shrugs. “I’m good.”

It’s a simple statement of fact, apparently. He’s not bragging. Not being cocky. He’s simply being accurate.

“Show me what you’re doing to me up in there.”

Colby shows me the movement of his fingers—a slow come-hither motion with his index and middle fingers. “But I know the exact spot to touch,” he says. “The right pressure to use. I can read your body’s cues. And, most importantly, I’m talking to you the whole time in your ear to distract you. That’s the magic bullet. Like I said, get you in the right frame of mind and then apply the technique the right way, it works like gangbusters every time. Hence, the reason we named it The Sure Thing.”

“Who’s the ‘we’ in that sentence?”

“My brothers and me. Well, Ryan and I were the ones who named it. But all of us use it.”

I’m flabbergasted. “You’ve talked to your brothers about what you just did to me?”

“Well, not specifically about doing it to you. But, yeah. My brothers and I have always talked about sex. Specifically, the best techniques to ring the bell. That’s our mutual obsession—ringing the bell. Hard and often. If you’re not getting multiple O’s out of a woman, you’re a failure.”

“All four of you know how to do that thing to women?”

“Five. Zander’s an honorary brother. To start with, though, it was just Ryan and me swapping notes, just because the other guys were still thinking about Xboxes, not pussies.”

“Tell me more. I’m intrigued. Who was the first to say, ‘Oh, I figured out this technique, dude.’”

“Ryan. Despite being two years younger than me, he lost his virginity a full month before me, the bastard. I’m not proud of that fact, by the way, so let it never be spoken about again.” He grins. “But, anyway, when I finally had sex for the first time, I raced home to tell Ryan. And he was like, ‘Yeah, good boy. But did you do this to her? No? Well, what about this?’ And I was like, ‘Oh, shit! But, hey, I did do this! Did you?’ And he was like, ‘Say what now?’”

I giggle.

“So that’s how it all started. We started swapping information. And the next time I got with my girl, I did the stuff Ryan told me to do and, ka-bam! Way more fun for my girl. And that made things way, way hotter for me. So then I got obsessed. And so did Ryan. And then we’d compare notes. We were never bragging. Never being disrespectful to girls. We both just wanted to get ridiculously good at ringing the bell. So fast-forward to Ryan at twenty-one or so and he had an extended fling with this wild-child who was ten years older than him. She taught him all kinds of good stuff, including about her A-spot. And the rest, as they say, is history. In one way or another, Ryan and I kept tinkering around with what she showed him for a couple years, until we finally perfected the technique we now call The Sure Thing.”

“And then you taught it to the younger guys at some point?”

“Of course. Even before they started having sex, we sat them down to set them straight that sex isn’t about wetting your dick. It’s about ringing the bell. Embrace that and you’ve got the key to the kingdom.”

“That older woman who taught Ryan should be hailed as a patron saint by every woman who’s ever slept with a Morgan brother.”

He laughs. “That woman’s benefitted many happy women over the years.”

“This is utterly fascinating. So the minute I go into the bathroom, are you gonna call your three brothers and Zander and tell them what a splendid job you did ‘ringing my bell’?”

Colby chuckles. “It doesn’t work like that. We don’t brag. And now that we’re older, we hardly swap notes anymore. Only if we’ve got a tough nut to crack or someone figures out something new everyone needs to know.”

I squint at him. “You’re telling me you haven’t talked to any of your brothers about sex with me?”

He blushes. “Yeah, I talked to Ryan a while ago, at the beginning, when you sobbed every time you came with me. I didn’t know what to do.”

I grab his hand. “It’s okay. I can’t imagine how much that must have freaked you out. I’m sorry.”

“Nothing to be sorry about. It got us where we are now.”

“Which is awesome,” I say.

“You’re not feeling the slightest bit of guilt now, right?” he asks.

I stroke his fingers. “Not the tiniest bit. I feel nothing but amazing and happy.”

“What about when we’re not having sex? Any doubts, fears, or guilt there? Any concerns?”

I shake my head. “Not a one.”

He looks unconvinced.

“What?”

“What about the first-responder thing? You’re good with that?”

Oh. That. Shit.

Obviously, it’s a double-edged sword for me. The very thing I’m attracted to about Colby—his heroic inclinations—makes me scared to death to be in a relationship with him for fear of losing him. But it’s now clear to me nothing could possibly make me throw on the brakes with Colby at this point. We’re full steam ahead. I love him and always will and there’s no turning back. I squeeze his hand. “It’s going to be hard for me when you return to work, I confess. I’ll need to do some mental gymnastics not to throw my arms around your legs every day and not let you leave. But I promise to deal with any freak-outs head-on when we get there. I’ll do whatever I have to do to keep my fears from consuming me or tearing us apart.” I press my forehead against his, stroke his cheek, and whisper, “All that matters to me now is that I love you and want to be with you no matter what.”
