Damaged Goods: A Single Dad & Nanny Romance by Rye Hart (36)

CHAPTER FIVE - KAILEY

When the movies were done, I had gone up to my room, planning on reading, but I found that I was absolutely exhausted. I curled up under the covers and switched the light off, falling to sleep and slipping into the dream world almost instantly. I found myself walking down a dark alleyway that seemed to stretch on forever. I looked to my left as I passed an open door and watched as my friends danced and laughed inside the club I had been at just the night before. I turned back toward the alley and continued forward, not sure of what I was looking for. Fear thumped in my chest as I heard footsteps behind me. I looked back but couldn’t see anyone in the darkness.

I started to run forward, pulling on the locked doors that peppered the brick buildings on both sides of me. None of them would open and I became even more panicked. I started to sprint through the dark corridor, looking for somewhere to hide, but it was empty and didn’t seem to ever end. As I picked up my pace, I felt a hand grab my shoulder and I spun around with my eyes closed. As I opened them I stared down the barrel of a gun, the sweaty face of the killer on the other side. The sound of the gun cocking echoed through the alley and I cried out.

“No, don’t. Don’t shoot!”

The feeling of someone’s hands on my shoulders woke me from my nightmare and I sat straight up in the bed breathing heavily and sweating. I looked around the room trying to get my eyes to focus. The bedside light clicked on and I stared up at Logan. Immediately tears flooded my eyes and I pulled my knees to my chest and sobbed.

“Sh,” Logan said softly as he sat next to me on the bed and pulled me close. “It was just a dream. It’s okay.”

“It seemed so real,” I cried.

“I know,” he soothed. “You are safe. Look, you are in the room here at the safe house. I’m right beside you. You are going to be okay.”

I looked up and around the room realizing he was right. My head began to clear from the dream and I took in a deep breath, clasping my hands together so they wouldn’t shake. Logan climbed into the bed and propped his back against the headboard, pulling me close and stroking my hair. Slowly, my nerves began to dissolve and my shoulders relaxed. I looked up at Logan, who smiled kindly down at me, and I couldn’t help but feel extremely comforted by his presence. Without thinking, I closed my eyes and leaned toward him, feeling his hands grasp my face. However, instead of feeling his lips against my mouth, he gently kissed my forehead. I realized in that moment it was probably the best rejection I could get.

Between the dream and the events that I had been through I was glad that Logan had the ability to act like a gentleman. The last thing I needed to do at that moment was jump into bed with him, it wouldn’t have taken the fear away. Instead, he stayed there with me until I fell asleep, something I knew I needed more than anything else. Within his comforting embrace, I fell back into a dreamless sleep until morning.

The light coming through the window blinded me even with my eyes closed. I turned over on my back, stretching my joints. I opened my eyes and stared up at the large ceiling fan as it spun in slow circles. It looked like palm leaves from some exotic location, making me wish I was anywhere but here. Instead, I was stuck in this rural farm house, wondering if the killer was somewhere out in the woods. I knew it could have been worse. Mr. Sexy Cop with his big muscles and perfect smile was here to take care of me, and after last night, I knew he had the best intentions.

Last night during the movie, I really tried to control my urges. The last thing I wanted to do was make a fool of myself, but the way he just took charge was so incredibly hot. Even with him two cushions away, he drove me nuts and I had to close my legs, worried I would start masturbating right there in front of him. The thought of him holding his big cock in his hands while watching me pleasure myself was more than I could bear.

Normally I was the girl who took charge. Dealing with whiny, nonassertive men was my forte, and I was always able to keep enough of a distance not to get my heart broken, but not with Logan. He was strong in every sense of the word, and he knew exactly how to put me in my place. I wriggled in bed, feeling my panties getting wet just thinking about how hard his cock was last night. He wanted me, but his conscience got in the way of his desires. It didn’t matter, I knew I could wear him down. Just the thought of his tongue sliding over my wet mound was enough for me to put in some extra effort. Besides, what else was I going to do to keep myself busy? I didn’t know how long I would be cooped up here, the least I could do was have a little fun in the meantime.

I felt an insane need to make him want me and I didn’t know why. On one hand, I was afraid of my own shadow. Just knowing the killer was out there, remembering my face and possibly planning my demise, was enough to send chills of terror cascading down my spine. On the other hand, I felt calm and safe being near Logan. I knew it wasn’t just because he was a cop. The entire time I was at the precinct waiting for him to pick me up, I was afraid the killer would come rampaging through the droves of cops and take me out right there. No, with Logan it was different. He made me feel safe, comfortable, and at home in this strange safe house. On top of it all, his manly control drove me mad. As I laid on the couch last night, I wanted to feel his hands all over my body.

I could hear Logan clanking around in the kitchen downstairs, so I jumped out of bed and stood in front of the mirror. I was wearing a long t-shirt and pink panties, but my hair was a nightmare. I grabbed my yoga pants, ready to put them on, but then thought better of it. I bit my lip and thought maybe it was time to start wearing down Logan’s resolve. I slipped into the bathroom and brushed my hair, applying just a light bit of blush and lip gloss. I wanted him to think I woke up looking like a supermodel, not the scared girl I felt like on the inside.

I tiptoed down the stairs and took a deep breath as I walked through the kitchen nonchalantly. I could feel his eyes on me as I bent over in the fridge, grabbing a bottle of water. I walked over and fixed some peanut butter toast and sat down in the chair across from Logan. He kept his eyes glued to whatever he was reading, but I could tell right away that his mind was on something else.

I pushed the chair next to him out and propped my legs up, crossed them at the ankles. I lightly tugged on my shirt, leaving a sliver of my panties sticking out from the bottom. His eyes went back and forth quickly and I could tell he was forcing himself to behave. From the way his jaw was set, I didn’t think his resolve would hold much longer.

“Morning,” I chirped, brushing crumbs from my hands.

“Morning,” he said, staring at his newspaper, trying not to make eye contact with me. “How did you sleep?”

“Oh, okay I guess,” I replied. “Would have been better if I wasn’t all alone in that big bed.”

“You know you should probably put on some clothes,” Logan said, clearing his throat and trying to ignore my comment. Hopefully he was picturing me naked in bed, writhing in passion from his big strong hands.

“Why? So, if the killer comes he won’t see my cute little pink panties?” I laughed to myself, seeing how much I was already getting to him. “. I usually sleep naked, but I thought that would make you uncomfortable, so I threw a little something on.” I was completely lying, but I wanted the image of me naked to run through his mind. I continued eating, humming a little tune to myself and smiling every time he sighed. He was trying to make it seem like I was annoying him, but I knew better. Those sighs were not exhalations of irritation, they were the sounds of him trying to keep it together around me. My little pink panties were really giving him a hard time.

Logan sat quietly, sipping his coffee and reading his paper. I knew he wasn’t actually reading it since half of it was upside down. I picked up my toast and took a bite, watching him struggle to keep his stern, professional expression firmly in place. I set the piece of toast down and looked him straight in the eyes as I stuck my finger deep in my mouth and sucked the peanut butter off. He shifted uncomfortably in his chair, staring at my face before clearing his throat and standing up.

“I need some air,” he grumbled, leaving his breakfast and heading out to the back patio.

I laughed as he walked outside, knowing I was succeeding in my quest. Part of me, though, felt almost bad for teasing him after he had been so comforting last night. I just couldn’t seem to help myself. I needed this man in my bed. I finished my toast, glancing out the window and smiling as Logan paced back and forth on the porch. He looked like he was having an argument with himself. I almost reached for the doorknob and walked outside, but I decided against it once I remembered the cameras. My teasing was for Logan’s eyes only. Instead, I tapped on the glass and watched as he turned his red face toward me, his mouth dropping slightly open as I winked and turned away.

If I thought he could see me through the glass and bars, I would have lifted my t-shirt and strutted away, but with the tint and curtains, it would have been a waste. Instead, I leaned down and planted a cherry lip gloss kiss on the front of his paper and made my way upstairs for a shower. He was so sexy and watching him fight with himself only made me want to crack him even more. The satisfaction of knowing this gorgeous man couldn’t handle my seduction aroused me in so many different ways. I wasn’t used to a challenge since men usually just dropped their pants whenever I said go.

I could tell that Logan wanted to bend me over the kitchen sink and fuck the hell out of me, but his dedication to his job was what stopped him. As much as I appreciated his desire to protect me, I felt there was no safer place than with him inside me. When I got back to my room, I undressed and wrapped a towel around myself, ready to take a shower and maybe relieve a little of my own pent-up sexual energy. However, as I heard the door slam downstairs, I got an even better idea. For a second, I fought with myself, trying to decide whether it was a good idea to take things so far, but I ultimately gave in to the devil on my shoulder. I flipped my hair over my shoulders and held on to the towel with one hand.

I waited until Logan had settled back down with his paper and coffee before commencing with my master plan. I tiptoed across the hall and grabbed my body spray, spraying it all over my body. The smell of vanilla wafted through the upstairs, and I looked at myself in the mirror before walking quietly back to my room. I adjusted the towel so that a bit more cleavage was hanging out and smiled, taking in a deep breath.

“Logan,” I called out, a slight bit of panic in my voice. “I need you. I need you to look at this.”
