It had been a little over a week since Bethany started working for my company, and things had finally started flowing the way it was supposed to. Maybe it just wasn’t time yet, or maybe, even worse, she just didn’t want to settle down with me. Either way, I wasn’t going to fork out a couple thousand dollars if it meant that I was going to get turned down. I didn’t want to risk it. Not right now.
