Truth or Dare: A Mountain Man's Second Chance Romance by Amy Brent (64)

CHAPTER SEVENTEEN

Ellie

As if the universe was against me, the calls started about the holidays. At first, the guys ignored them but I insisted that they make plans. Chris and Miller discussed it and decided to go with the original story. I was going to come to his house as just a friend that stayed near the cabin. Simple. We’d all drive together but I would have to sleep alone again, something that felt so foreign to me. I loved being encased by my warm, strong men every night. I liked the idea of waking up and being able to do whatever I wanted to them.

I knew that we could not have sex while we were there, none of us.

Bree called to see how we were, asking about the holidays. I reluctantly shared the plan with her, hearing her laugh at the other end.

“What?” I asked as she laughed again.

“You three fill the room with the most insane sexual attraction that I’ve ever been around. Touching or not, it’s there. I wouldn’t be surprised if people knew it while you were out.” She was blunt if nothing else. I groaned. “This just friends thing might be hard to pull off.”

“Great. Should I just come to your parents?” I asked as she remained silent.

“Have yours even called?”

“No. They tried for a while but I got the gist of it fast and stopped talking to them. It seems like they gave up.” I replied, curious as how I wasn’t missing them more. Being away from them only proved to me that they liked to control everything in my life. That was never going to make me happy and now I was. I might be confused, but I was happy.

“I think that you’ll be best with them, regardless of the difficulty of it all. Do you have a plan in mind for any questions that they might ask?”

“I am a friend that stays in a cabin nearby. Their families both know what they’ve been through so they don’t think there will be a lot of pressure about it. It seems that all parents didn’t like their choices in women.” I was happy about that. I didn’t want anyone waxing poetic about an ex the way that my near mother-in-law had with Brent’s old girlfriend. It was incredulous to me that she was accepting of the engagement at all. Though, I did wonder why the former relationship ended. Maybe she got smart and ran screaming to the hills. I had when it came down to it.

“We need to get together for our own celebration. The guys might decide to move back to the city. They each have a place there,” I told her. “Does that mean I’ll be jumping beds? I have no clue. This is moving fast.”

“I agree but it seems like you all care for each other. It looks genuine.” I smiled. Bree did support me in some way.

“I guess I said it going to sleep the other night. I don’t really remember but Chris heard it. We talked about it and it’s that way for all of us. We love each other.” I smiled at the memory of our talk. The three of us discussed it on the couch one night and we all agreed that we wanted this. We could make it work.

We celebrated in bed that night with them filling me every way possible. I knew that my life was complete that I was willing to live here with these men for an eternity. I didn’t care about the reality waiting for us back in the city. I just wanted them.

Reality hit me in the cabin the following week. Concrete plans were made for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I would be altering homes with the guys as their friend, sleeping in a separate room and making up lies about my real life. My parents died in an accident and I was a freelance writer that was working in the family cabin to escape life for a bit, just like the guys. It was all so innocent between us, which was the biggest lie of all. I held onto the freelance aspect of the story because it was the only true part, making me feel petty.

We weren’t set to leave for another week but I felt myself growing tense by the day. Chris watched and asked if I wanted to back out. I could still go to Bree’s casual family gathering and avoid the pain that would likely be involved with the current choice. He was the kind one. Miller told me that this was going to be hard for all of us. He didn’t want to bring me home as a friend. He wanted them to know everything since he was happy again. I knew they both felt that way, but the lies were etched in stone at this point.

I packed the night before we left, making sure everything was on the conservative side. Most of my clothes already were, but I wanted to be sure. I was used to walking around the cabin in next to nothing at all, so being dressed felt foreign to me. The guys were quicker about it and finished that afternoon so they could work with the company this evening. I folded a pink sweater and placed it at the top, sighing heavily. I could add everything else in the morning once I was showered. I eased the suitcase that Chris lent me to the floor and walked over to the window to look out. There was a layer of snow on the ground but it wasn’t anything the guys couldn’t handle driving in. It made me shudder. I refused to drive unless I read the weather report from the morning until night and looked outside several times. I was pretty sure that my little spin out had ruined me for life at this point.

I looked towards the bathroom door, thinking about the generous bathtub that was waiting for me. I could slip under the hot water and thick vanilla bubbles and forget about all of this for a little while. I smiled and walked over, pushing the door slightly open so I could begin filling the tub with hot water. I got some towels and clean clothes to wear after I was finished and stripped to get into the water.

When I turned to walk to the bathtub, I caught the image of Miller in the mirror. Gasping, I pressed my hand to my chest and let out a shaky breath.

“You scared me.” My laugh was weak as I kept walking to the water. I glanced up again and his eyes were dark with need as he looked down my body. “Miller?”

He strode towards me, slipping down his sweats as I saw his cock drop out. He was thick and hard, making me wet. It didn’t take much around these guys.

“I need to fuck you before you get in there,” he told me as our eyes locked. “Get on the counter.” I scrambled to comply and moved to my knees on the marble, offering him my ass. I was never sure where it was that they were going to fuck me and at this point, I didn’t care. I just needed them inside of me.

I gripped the faucet as Miller moved behind me, lining his cock up with my pussy. He drove in hard, hissing when he felt my slick walls. I arched my back and cried out, needing every inch of him punishing me right now. His hand curled around my nipple while his other arm held me steady, pinching in time with the thrusts. I felt my body weaken as he kept taking me, wanting to come all over his cock, I wanted to release my own stress and I moved to rock with Miller as he took me again.

“Fuck,” I moaned as we synced together. The pressure inside of my pussy was intense and the pain of his hand squeezing me shot straight between my legs. I heard him let out a strangled breath as he moved harder.

“I’ve been a dick about this.” His sentences came in between him thrusting deep inside of me. “I’m sorry. I just don’t want to lie to my parents. I want to show you off and be able to take you in bed at night after everyone is asleep. I just want to be normal with you.”

I cried out as the release threatened the edge of my sanity. He slid in deep and I moaned his name as warmth washed over him, making him jerk harder into me. Miller came just after me, filling me with him as I dropped my head over his shoulder.

“I want that, Miller. I hate lying but we just need to keep the peace,” I told him, knowing it was the truth.

“I know.” He reached around to ease me from the counter, wrapping his arms around my waist as my knees trembled. “May I join you in that bath?”

“Always.” We waited until we were steady and then walked over, him slipping under the water first so I could lean against his hard chest. We did baths sometimes on cold nights when we wanted to warm up and ignore the world. “What’s Chris doing?”

“He was having a text argument with his brother when I left. They do that a lot.” Miller stroked my shoulders under the water and I closed my eyes, relaxing against him. “They are close as hell but they always do this when the holidays are coming up. I guess it’s because they’re only a couple of years apart. My sister is five years older than I am. We just get along.”

“I can’t believe I am meeting your families,” I said softly after a deep breath.

“I just wish it was different.”

“I know,” I assured him, because I knew that. I no longer wanted to pressure him about this. They both left under painful circumstances and we didn’t need to shock everyone with the story about us.

“I think they’ll like you. All of them. They’re good people that care about us. Hell, they might want us to be more than friends, just not the way that we actually are.” His laugh was on the bitter side as I cringed. He felt me and lowered his hand to stroke my right breast gently.

“Everything will be fine,” I promised him as I turned my face towards his for a kiss. He pressed his lips to mine as I watched, making me smile. I remembered how bitter he was when I arrived and now he seemed to kind. They both were, and I wondered how I got so lucky to have two wonderful men in my life.

We stayed in until the water began to cool. I got out first and Miller followed, toweling me off with a smile on his face. We dressed and walked out to the living room to find Chris staring at his laptop. He inhaled and glanced up, smiling ruefully at us.

“Damn. I should have joined you.” His words were wistful, and I walked over to kiss him.

“What’s wrong?” I asked as he sighed.

“Devin wants to bring a friend to dinner. It’s a girl that he wants to set me up with. She’s apparently so amazing that I’ll forget all about my issues with the ex.” His words were laced with sarcasm as ice slid through my veins at the image of him with someone else. “It too everything I had not to tell him about you, El.”

“You didn’t, right?” Miller asked as Chris shook his head.

“No. I told him that I wasn’t into meeting someone quite yet. I hope that’s enough of a hint for him.” Chris smiled apologetically at me. “My brother has been with his wife since junior high. They knew it was right from the start so he thinks everyone will have the same luck.”

“Junior high?” I asked as he nodded. That was so rare these days. There was a part of me that wanted to meet their families so much. It was that part of me that wanted to know how they grew up as kids. I clung to that now that my parents weren’t a part of my life at all any longer. It hurt me to know that they chose Brent over me. I pushed the bitterness aside and went to pour some wine and relax with them, talking about their families and what I should expect.

CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

Miller

I drove into the city the following morning once we were all ready. We’d showered and let the coffee kick in before carrying stuff to the car. Ellie was wearing some thick leggings and a sweater with boots and I imagined her naked from the night before. She asked that we give her proper memories for the time that we couldn’t touch. Chris and I had her in every way that she could handle. I was sure that there were some marks on that pale skin underneath her clothes.

She pulled a hat over her braid when I locked the cabin door, smiling weakly. I took her hand as we made our way to the car to meet Chris, who as securing everything in the back. Ellie looked at him, then to me. She pressed her lips to ours in turn, long and hard. It felt like a goodbye but I knew it was just because we were going to see people we were hiding from.

She slipped into the back of the car, urging Chris to sit in the front with me. She assured us that she was bringing her Kindle and would be well occupied back there. We shrugged, and he got in beside me as I started the engine.

The roads were clear as I wound out of the country, thinking ahead to the holiday. I loved my family but the memory of last year was filled with images of my wife. We were only married for a year at that point and happy to my knowledge. She was all smiles and warmth with my parents and sister, making me hate her now. Her smile was different when I saw her with him.

I pushed that aside and glanced in the mirror at Ellie. She was relaxing as she read, her eyes scanning the words quickly as I smiled. She was better than any woman I’d ever been with.

We entered town, and I drove over to our shared complex so we could check on our condos. Ellie followed us to mine first, looking around with wide eyes.

“This is gorgeous,” she breathed as I kissed her hair behind the closed door.

“It’s just a place I got after I…” I let my voice drift off. Chris and I both bought these places when we ended our relationships. We were renting before and left them at the end of the relationship. This was the city we were going to live in due to family and work obligations, and they were a great deal. We bought two of them. It made sense at the time.

Now I looked at Ellie and wished that we’d chosen to share one so we could share her.

I walked around to make sure everything looked the same as Ellie wandered on her own. Chris had walked over to his own place for a moment and I got an idea as I looked at her. I walked over, taking her hand and pulling her to my bedroom.

“I want you in my bed.” I told her as I walked her to the bed. I kissed her as I worked her jacket from her body, sliding it to the floor. Before too long, she was stripped naked and spread open on my bed as I tasted her sweet pussy. We had time to do this in both apartments so I enjoyed every lick and suck. Ellie moaned and slid a hand into my hair as I teased her towards an orgasm.

Once she came into my mouth, I pulled my clothes off and dropped to my back. She moved over me, sliding down over me as we both moaned. She was so tight and wet for me. I watched as she bucked forward, sliding over me as my cock swelled inside of her. I was just shooting inside of her, calling out her name when another pair of hands gripped her hips. Ellie moaned as Chris pulled her away from me to press her to her back. He stripped and slid inside of her as she moaned, still sensitive from the first time.

“I want to do this in my place,” He groaned as he took her, his eyes hooded with lust. “I want it to always smell like you, Ellie.”

We showered again at his condo after enjoying each other in his bed and Ellie looked into the mirror.

“It’s so obvious what we were doing,” she grumbled as she braided her hair again. “I always get so pink.”

“I like it when you’re pink,” I teased her, kissing her neck. I met her eyes in the mirror. “I love you, Ellie.”

“I love you. Both of you. So much.” Her eyes softened as she finished and wrapped a rubber band around the end. Chris walked out of the master bedroom dressed again, running a hand through his hair. We met in the living room that was merely a flipped around version of mine.

“I guess we should go,” he said reluctantly as his eyes swept over Ellie’s face. “They’re waiting for us.” We made quick plans to meet up when we could and made the drive to our shared neighborhood. Chris told us that he’d get a hold of us before he took his luggage to his parent’s house down the street.

Ellie looked overwhelmed as she looked around the wide street with large homes dotted alongside the sidewalk. It was a great place to grown up, and I had no complaints.

“I love this. It’s like my childhood home, just a little older. I can imagine the two of you as boys running around these streets.” Ellie smiled as I reached out to take her hand before remembering where we were. I pulled it back with a scowl and she smiled softly and went to get her suitcase. The front door opened, and I turned my head to see Mom heading towards me with a huge smile on her face.

“Miller!! It feels like it’s been forever.” She hugged me tightly as I wrapped my arms around her trim waist. I loved and missed my mom but needed this time away.

“Good to see you too,” I murmured as we held the embrace for a moment. She pulled away and smiled at me with both pain and love in her eyes, holding my hands. “This is Ellie. I told you about her on the phone.”

“Ellie, it is so good to meet you.” She hugged her as she told Ellie to call her Monica. “Come on in. I’ll show you to the guest room.” Ellie shot me a look as she trailed after Mom and I stifled my groan. We walked into the open living room and Mom led Ellie down the hall, chatting with her about Colorado. I went past them to my own room, taking the stairs as I lost the sound of Ellie’s sweet voice. It looked the same, and I swore that Mom held onto the past too much sometimes. I unpacked a bit and looked around at the pictures of friends as well as a wedding photo. We were both smiling, and I shoved that into the drawer with a scowl. Mom didn’t know it was in here or else she would have done the same.

I left the room, heading to the kitchen for something cold to drink. It was fully stocked with everything I’d need and I chose water for now as my sister walked into the kitchen. She saw me and gave me a hug, asking how it was living like a recluse.

“It’s great. You’ve been there, Maddie.” I joked as she laughed. “How’s Tom doing?” He’d recently proposed to my sister, and she beamed.

“Great. He’s finishing up at the office and should be here soon. I thought Mom said you were bringing someone home with you?”

Mom and Ellie walked in then, getting along great. Mom offered coffee to her and found me with a smile on her face.

“Want some, Miller?” I nodded, and she poured two cups before getting an obscene amount of things to fix the cups from the fridge and cupboards.

“Madeline, this is Ellie. She was staying at her cabin near us and we thought it would be fun to invite her. She lost her parents in an accident two years ago.” I looked at Ellie pointedly and she appeared sad as she stirred creamer into her coffee.

“They’ve been great.” Ellie offered as my mom and sister gave her sympathetic glances. “Fixing up little things on the cabin and this invitation… it was so sweet.” She gave me a small, innocent smile that made my cock hard. This was going to be difficult.

The women made small talk as they sipped coffee and decided to make some lunch. I was resentful that she got along with them so well given the situation. Kristen never liked my family this much.

Dad arrived home from a few hours at the office and clapped me on the back as he asked how I was doing. He was worried when I ran away a few months ago. I could see that he still was by the way his eyes searched my face.

“I’m good, Dad. I’ve just been working up there and enjoying the peace,” I replied as he nodded. I was closest to my father and hoped that he couldn’t see through me.

“Good, Miller. It’s nice to have you back.” He looked up as my mom led Ellie into the living room, raising an eyebrow at me.

“Dad, this is Ellie. She has a cabin nearby, and we ran into each other at the local store. We’ve helped her out some.” I kept my voice light as he walked forward and shook her hand gently.

“It’s a pleasure. Your family has a cabin there?” I knew that he understood that most cabins there belonged to families in addition to her young age.

“I got it when my parents passed a few years ago.” I watched as his shoulders slumped. “It seemed perfect for a getaway when I needed it.”

“I’m sorry for your loss,” he told her as she nodded. I could see a genuine sadness in Ellie’s eyes as she thanked him.

The women cooked a brunch of grilled cheese sandwiches and tomato soup as I caught up with Dad in the living room. His firm was doing well after a particularly infamous embezzling case and I asked him about it. I saw the story on the news but I was keeping away from the real world. Dad gave me the details, and I missed living closer to them in this moment.

We were called to the table and everyone dug in. Mom told us who was going to be at dinner the following day but I kept watching Ellie. She looked happy here.

Chris came over to visit after we ate. Everyone hugged him and asked if he was hungry. Mom considered him a son and would do anything for Chris. He assured her that his own family had cooked a feast for him and just wanted to stop in to say hello. He took a seat beside Ellie on the couch, making a point of making eye contact with my family as I watched. This was hard on all of us. We were fucking like rabbits a mere few hours before this.

Chris left after a few hours and Mom went into the kitchen to make sure she had everything for dinner the following day. The stores would be closing soon for the holiday and I glanced at Ellie as I yawned. I was going to find a way to have her tonight no matter what the risk.

We had a pizza dinner and Mom excused herself to go read before bed. She woke up early on Thanksgiving and we all followed within a couple of hours. I told Ellie to give it some time and come to my room since it was the most private. I felt weak in asking but I needed her. I didn’t care where we were but I would stay quiet. She agreed and made her way to the guest room as I walked upstairs to shower before she came up. I watched some TV after, waking up in the morning alone with it still on.

Ellie never came up.
