Hawk: Devil's Fury Book 3 by Torrie Robles (68)

Hawk

The meeting is happening. Louie Jr. was more than happy to meet up. This is a prime example of how the face of the MC is changing. Not just with Fury, but with the Diablos as well.

I knock on the door of Cut’s office. “Come in,” he calls before I enter.

He’s the only one in the room. Lick and Sin are in the shop, and Dyke has taken off for a few days. The others are either in the clubhouse or out of town. “Louie will be here, soon.”

I drop down in the chair in front of his desk. “Do you have a game plan?”

“I’m going to recap what happened, then I’m going to ask for his location. Knowing that Louie has his daughter, he’ll take what happened to Tessa into consideration.”

“Yeah, let’s hope.”

“Let's forget to mention the reasons behind his club members’ untimely deaths, got it?”

“He’s not going to hear it from me.”

“How’s Tessa?”

“She’s home resting. She had the scans and spinal tap this morning. Between those and the shit that went down with her mother yesterday, she’s wiped.”

“I have half a mind to go over there and knock some sense into those people.”

My phone vibrates, so I pull it out of my pocket.

Rhea: Just checking in. How’s she doing?

Me: Tired.

Rhea: Let me know if you need anything from us. That’s from mom. Oh, and she says she misses you. I might miss you too.

“Everything all right?”

I look up, and Cut is eyeing me. “Yeah, my sister and mom.”

He leans back in his chair. “Never thought I’d see the day that you’d have such a different reaction to her. From the moment she left, you’ve hated her.”

“Things change,” I tell him when I shove the phone back in my pocket.

“You going to tell me how that came about?”

“Not sure what good it would do. I found some things out, and I saw what she did in a different light. All that shit’s in the past now. I’d like to keep it there. I’m tired of looking back. I’m a total hypocrite if I don’t stop doing that since I always give Sin a hard time.”

“Well, you know if you need anything, and I’m not saying from the club, but from me, you come to me.”

A knock sounds. “Prez?”

“Come in.”

The door opens, a prospect and Louie Jr, enter. He’s alone.

“This has to do more with him than me. That’s why he’s here,” Cut expresses.

I stand and offer Louie my hand. He shakes it then reaches over the desk and does the same to Cut. “Have a seat,” I suggest when I pull the chair next to him.

“What’s going on?” Louie asks, his gaze bouncing between Cut and me. When Cut gives me the signal, I start.

“The day Sienna was taken–”

Louie sits up and leans his elbows on his knees. His attention is pointed at Cut. “Something I had nothing to do with. I wasn’t even in town.”

“I know. That day, they didn’t only take Sienna. They attacked her best friend,” Cut confirms.

Louie leans back. His hand comes up and rubs his jaw as he shakes his head. “All the fucking shit of the past. Never seems to stay buried does it?”

“I take it you didn’t know about these actions?”

“I heard rumors. But like I said, I wasn’t in town. I was scouting for my father. We were trying to build the Diablos, and it was my job to patch in new members.”

This was a fact because Louie Sr. knew what he was planning when it came to taking Sienna. He was looking for more soldiers to fight the war he was planning with Devin. He wanted to wipe out Fury, and he needed the manpower to make it happen.

“I’m looking for a man named Tre De La Cruz.”

“Are you kidding me right now? You want me to hand over another one of my members?”

“He’s the last one alive.”

“Yeah, convenient, isn’t it?” Louie remarks.

“No offense, Louie,” I say, “but it was my woman who was attacked. And I’m putting it mildly when I say that. She was raped by several of your men repeatedly. They put her in the hospital. She was bleeding and broken. She’s lucky she made it, and now I need to the right this last wrong. I need to do it for her and myself. She needs to live whatever life she has left without fear.”

Louie glances at Cut not understanding.

“Tessa has cancer. They’re not sure how bad it is.”

“We have a boy,” I lie. Bringing Sam up wasn’t in the plans, but I’m hoping he’ll have some fucking compassion. He doesn’t need to know Sam’s age. If he did, I don’t know how he’ll react. Sam does have Diablo blood flowing through his veins, and I’m not sure how seriously Jr. takes that.

“She’s been gone all these years, and now she’s home because she’s–” my voice cracks, “dying and I want her to make as many memories with him before it’s too late. She won’t leave the house because of her fears. That’s not the way for her to live, not when we don’t know how much time she has left.”

“What do I get in return? I have a fucking reputation to keep. What the fuck do you think people are going to say about me if I continue to hand my men over to you? It’s fucked up that you’d ask me to do that.”

“I hear Tre isn’t even this chapter anymore.”

“So you’ve been looking? Why the fuck did you even bring me here if you’ve been looking on your own?”

“We brought you here because the piece of shit hasn’t been visible for over a year.”

“Then, for all we know, he might be dead with the rest of them.” He turns and addresses Cut. “I’d hate for our truce to be over with. I don’t want to start doing shit old school, but if you’re going to start going after mine, then I’m going to start coming after yours.”

Cut squeeze his eyes shut. His jaw tenses. He takes a deep breath before opening his eyes. “I’ve asked you here to discuss this because one, you’re a father and I can only imagine the shit you went through when Redding took your little girl. Picture having five animals taking their turns with her. Fucking her, biting her, pissing on her. Can you imagine how, as a father, you’d be able to handle that? I respect you, Louie. You’ve pulled your club from the pile of shit your father put it in. Not everyone would be able to do what you did. Most clubs would have folded, but you didn’t back down, and because of that, the stain that was once on the Diablos name is no more. Don’t prove me wrong, because I don’t like to be wrong. I’m asking as a man, do the right thing. Ease the burden this woman has been living through all these years. Let her finally rest easy.”

Louie pushes himself up and heads towards the door. “Heard he was up in a small town in southern Colorado–Capulin. Ask for Edwardo at the local bar. He’ll help you.” He pulls the door opens and leaves.

Finally giving me some fucking hope.
