Together, they dressed quickly, Kasey removed all the smudges of her lipstick from Jay’s neck before reapplying her makeup. After deciding they were well put together, they walked hand in hand out of the office.

Kasey took one last glimpse before closing the door, and when she turned to see Jay watching proudly, she found her confidence in him.

“I love you, too, Jay.”

His eyebrows lifted as if he knew how difficult it was for her to say the words. A smile slowly spread and he took her hand in his, interlocking their fingers before bringing their hands to his mouth and kissing her knuckles.

When the elevator doors opened, they stepped inside and Jay wrapped his arms around her, gently kissing her neck.

“This is the best day of my life,” he whispered.

Kasey didn’t answer, instead she took a deep breath, relaxing in his protective arms as she accepted that it was her best day as well. Everything was perfect—the timing had finally lined up for her life to fall in place.

After years of pushing men away, she had found a way to open herself to the possibility of love again, and it was beautiful. Despite her insecurities and shortcomings, she had entered into a healthy relationship. Now, she was launching a new venture with the man she loved, and he loved her back.
