The Recoil Rock Series Box Set by K E Osborn (32)

Ryan is suddenly upside down over the top of a barrel as Matt and Nate hold his legs while he chugs a beer upside down. Everyone is cheering as one of the bikers called Crash, force feeds him the beer through a hose, while Lunar and I watch from the sidelines. My band is getting along with these bikers exceptionally well by the looks of it, and this party is going a hell of a lot smoother than when we first arrived to the bitch fight.

We’re all cheering as Ryan loses his balance and falls from the barrel, when suddenly an almighty explosion echoes through the compound. We all jump up and look toward the source of the noise to see a black ute hurtling through the gates. It pulls to a stop as Lunar grips onto my arm tightly. The bikers all draw their guns and point them at the vehicle, then a shockwave blasts with all its might through the compound. I’m rammed off my feet by a force so powerful it knocks the wind from my lungs as heat races over the top of my body.

It takes me a second to register, but when I do, I turn to see Lunar on the ground beside me and I quickly roll over sheltering her from the scattering debris that’s falling to the ground all around us. My eyes are still blurry trying to right themselves from the flash of tremendous light and through the haze of black fog. My ears are ringing harshly as my head pounds so badly I feel nauseous. I’m slightly disorientated, but all I know is Lunar is under me, she’s breathing and I’m pretty sure she’s okay. That’s all I care about right now. Shaking my head to try and right my equilibrium, I sit back slightly and look down at Lunar to see her looking up at me, assessing my face. Her hand comes out and caresses my cheek, as I look to see a small smothering of blood on her forehead.

“You’re bleeding,” I murmur, but I can hardly hear my voice over the ringing in my ears.

She looks up to my cheek and winces. “So are you,” she replies.

I turn my head to look behind me. Bikers are running in all different directions with their guns drawn. Children are crying, and the women are ushering people and the wounded around. I stand up on shaky legs grabbing Lunar with me and standing her up.

“Are you okay? Are you hurt anywhere else?” I run my hands all over her body.

She shakes her head. “No, I’m fine! Where’s the guys?” she asks.

We turn to see Ryan holding his head and leaning against the auto shop wall, and Nate and Matt holding each other up.

“They’re okay. What happened?” I ask, and she shakes her head.

“I’m guessing the ute exploded.”

I turn to see the car which has completely disintegrated. Definitely like it has exploded.

“Why the fuck would anyone do this?” I ask holding her to me.

“Because this is a biker club, and this shit happens, Danger.”

I open my eyes wide and groan. “This used to happen when you were here?”

“Not a lot. But this… kidnappings, murders… it’s the life of the club. That’s why I’m glad you got me out.”

“And you’re never coming back here, baby. Never.” I lean in kissing her as Ryan, and the guys come over to us.

“You guys okay?” Ryan asks, and we nod.

“Yeah, you?” I ask.

He looks down at his slightly torn shirt. “Yeah, this is actually kind of exciting.”

I scoff and roll my eyes. “Dude, we could have died.”

“I know, right! Imagine what the press would say about this if they knew.”

“They will not be finding out,” Lunar responds sternly, and by the fierce look in her eyes I wouldn’t be going past her word right now.

“Okay, fine, the club is safe,” Ryan says.

“Looks like everyone is heading inside, we should probably go in too. They will want a head count,” Lunar tells us.

I nod wrapping my arm around her shoulder and walking with Lunar inside the clubrooms. We head up toward the bar and stand around as everyone else rushes about like mad men. I go to get a drink noticing Techie walk up to Lunar shaking his head.

“You’re back here for an hour and look what happens?” he teases.

She rolls her eyes. “I see nothing has changed with you boys then? Still getting yourselves in trouble no doubt. You said this place was different to Virginia, Techie,” Lunar says.

“It is! We don’t go looking for trouble here, but for some reason trouble is finding us. I have no idea what this is about, but we need to figure it out before something worse happens.”

She nods and I step up to them taking Lunar to my side. “Hey babe, I think we should go. These guys need to concentrate on their club, and we’re just a distraction.”

She nods and grabs my hand while smiling at Techie. “I’m so glad I got to see you, it’s been too long,” she says.

“Well, I have a feeling it’s going to be even longer between visits with you heading off to the US. Just remember to keep in touch, you’re family, no matter what.” He leans out wrapping his arms around her giving Lunar a tight squeeze. She giggles pulling back with a smirk. “What?” She chews on her bottom lip. “Lunar!”

“Okay fine. Word is you’re seeing someone. Is that true?” she asks.

He groans and I smirk wondering if the playboy Techie is actually finally settling down with someone.

“No! Now go away and be a famous rocker’s girlfriend will you?”

She leers at him. “She must be special if you’re hiding her from the lads. I’m proud of you, Techie. Out of all the guys I never thought you’d settle down. I hope you do. Being in a relationship, it’s work, but it’s worth it.”

Smiling at her, he turns her and slaps her ass pushing her to walk off. She laughs and heads off toward Ryan, Matt and Nate. I watch as she walks away, her ass swaying from side to side like she owns the joint. She is so fucking hot and she’s all mine.

God, I love that woman!

“So you better take care of her. She won’t have us to fall back on in the US,” Techie says and I turn to face him.

“I know, don’t worry, I plan on taking very good care of her. That little minx has worked her way into my heart. She’s crazy and we have our moments, but she rocks my world.”

“That’s good to hear. Thanks for dropping in. Sorry we kinda… blew up the place,” he says.

I manage a laugh while shaking my head. “No, it’s fine. I’m just glad no one was hurt. The life of a biker is never dull, hey Techie?”

He nods raising his eyebrow. “Seems that way.”

I slap his arm in a kind gesture. “See you, my friend.”

“Safe travels.”

I turn and walk off toward the guys and Lunar, and they all nod at me as I get to them.

“Let’s get out of here,” Matt suggests.

I nod looking at Lunar, who takes one last look around the place and smiles.

“Gladly,” she chimes.

We’re driving back to the hotel and I’m looking over Lunar’s blood stain on her forehead, but it seems like when I rolled on top of her blood must have spilled from my cheek onto her. She wasn’t hurt at all, which gave me instant relief. I’d much rather it be my blood than hers.

“How epic was that? I mean we were in a real biker war showdown!” Nate calls out, and Ryan laughs.

“I know right! I’m glad I’m not the only one who found that completely electrifying,” Ryan says and Lunar scoffs.

“We could have all been killed, I’m glad to be out of that life. Being a rocker’s girlfriend, while still dangerous with the fans, is nothing compared to club life. Trust me, living in that place is not exciting.”

I lean across to give her a hug and kiss her temple softly. I’m so glad that I have her away from this club. Lunar is now officially removed from that life, and she will never be back. She is now a rocker’s girlfriend, not club property, and I think she understands that now as we drive away from the Satan’s Savages for the last time.

Leaving her past behind, and only looking now at her bright future.

A future with me.
